everything from safety cards, life jackets, safety equipment that is specific to EI would have to be added, IFE system loaded with EI’s product, placards etc I would imagine Ryanair has less to add or else it is added in Seattle ?

    BNA/IND/MCO gain extra weekly.

Excluding the spare GEY, that reduces free slots from 2 to just 1.

    New DUB-JFK service

    DUB-JFK 19:45-22:15

    JFK-DUB 23:45-11:20

Aer Lingus’s growth to the US is so impressive. I just can’t help but feeling they need to start boosting the SH routes to feed it and help it grow even more.

Boston also increased to 3 times a day

YYZ return's to partal A330 so GEY is going into service for S26, anyone confirm?

Looks like maybe only peak summer for A330.

This will probably be the first time US business visitors can do a full day's business in Dublin on their departing day and fly home that evening. I don't recall there ever being a post 6pm transatlantic flight from Dublin? I wonder will Border Control staff work later to accommodate this flight that is hours after all the other departing transatlantic flights or will pax have to do border clearance in JFK?

Raleigh-Durham is an interesting choice too. Its the 2nd North Carolina destination for DUB after Charlotte which is operated by AA (approx 250 kms from RDU). This is EI's 19th US destination from DUB by my count (and 21st transatlantic if you include YYZ and CUN)...impressive!

SNN-BOS is also increasing to 10x weekly from mid-May until August 20th next summer. Presumably this will be a W rotation with a DUB-based A321neo.

EI scooping up that golf traffic to SNN ahead of Adare in 2027.

Love that late JFK flight, it'd be a poor utilization of an aircraft but I would love to see a daytime NYC-DUB flight.

Shannon Airport have announced that Aer Lingus’ SNN-JFK flight will operate year-round instead of being suspended in Jan-Feb.

Seems a weird move for Aer Lingus to expand US routes considering all the talk of depressed demand considering the environment over there now

  • Registered Users, Registered Users 2 Posts: 73 ✭✭LimaBravoTango

EI’s transatlantic load factors are strong at the moment.

By my reckoning that’s 5 daily EI flights on certain days from Boston to the island of Ireland. Impressive!!

The way things are going though, you'd imagine demands lessens as time goes on for leisure travel. I mean I know I'm less interested in going to the US considering the **** show there atm

As with most things surrounding the current US administration it's likely been blown way out of proportion. Demand remained strong over summer and it makes perfect sense for Aer Lingus to continue focusing on a winning formula which North America has proven to be.

The new routes but in particular the increased frequencies on existing services proves the airline has good confidence in its model and competitiveness with US based rivals. Jetblue certainly won't be welcoming the news of additional frequencies to BOS and JFK, Delta will also be reminded that Aer Lingus is equally willing to defend its patch as they are.

    Talk is cheap.

Airlines have access to actual data

If you're going to be refused entry by DHS/ICE, would you prefer to be in

a: A US airport, put in to a holding cell for feck knows how long or

    b: in Dublin?

That has to be diverting traffic from other routes to connect through DUB

Really wish they'd bring back the day time JFK-DUB. I used that a few times, and would use it again.

With these later departure times , will a321s end up on longer short haul routes, or some later morning departures?

  • Registered Users, Registered Users 2 Posts: 12,070 ✭✭✭✭titan18

I'd rather just not go myself. Was thinking Aer Lingus might diversify their route selection due to the issues there.

I'm not sure you can say that flying to one destination three times weekly for less than four months constitutes diversification in any meaningful sense of the word.

Yup, any problems in Dublin you just walk away and they can't touch you. Given the current circumstances any employer sending people to the US for meetings should be protecting them as far as possible and USPC could become a big advantage. Of course the odds of a refusal are super low anyway

There is evidently still plenty of money to be made to/from the USA !

  • Registered Users, Registered Users 2 Posts: 1,037 ✭✭✭lordleitrim

The fact the new routes to Indianapolis and Nashville are already upping frequencies proves the buoyant demand is there regardless of what's going on in the news about America. I think what happens in the news only influences a fraction of us in determining where we travel or holiday in...most people are indifferent and will continue to go where they want to go regardless...

I imagine Trump could do the most despicable or scandalous thing today and a tiny fraction will be all over their socials or WhatsApp about it in outrage whereas the other 98% won't even pass a cursory comment on it as they search for hotel rooms in Manhattan, Vegas or Orlando for next month/year's holiday...it is what it is.

The "issues" (which are still in their early stages in my opinion) wouldn't be an issue to American citizens who want to travel to Europe.

I think it's too early to see a meaningful negative reaction to bookings to the USA. Many families save for 2-3 years before doing a 'big trip' to the USA.

Ive heard many people I know saw they won't go to the US, but these people weren't planning to go anyway.

There’s probably some truth in that but the dollar has dropped 15% against the Euro in the last 9 months. That’s the point at which European travellers would find the US more attractive and might see a fall off in traffic from the US to Europe as the costs bite. None of that is positive given the negative sentiment across much of Europe.

Theres a notice now on the ei website if you try to book the new evening JFK flight that pre clearance in Dublin is closed and you'll clear at JFK. Will be interesting to see how the loads are with no pre clearance. Its a huge advantage of dublin. Now it might not bother some

I’ve a feelings this flight is mostly targeted at capturing connections from afternoon European flights.
I can’t imagine it will be popular for Irish going to New York tbh
