Mmm I’m starting to get the hebe gebes about my car. What with the poor enough range, especially above ‘Leaf Speed’, the suspected lower than expected battery capacity and now the inability to forecast range within the normal level of accuracy . If it was still in warranty I’d be booking in a service check.

sorry to bother Gumbo but to satisfy my curiosity did you by any chance take note of how much KWhs the car reported as consumed for the 42% of the battery used?

No it’s an NCA battery. I think the LFP is only found in the RWD M3

    I didn’t sorry. I should have.
I got it back and immediately updated the car so don’t think I can even access it now.

Thats no problem. It’s not something I’d ever done until a couple of weeks back when I got concerned about level of degradation.

Interested if anyone else has taken note of this stat as just trying to understand if the consumption reported can be used to calculate available battery capacity or if relates solely to the motors as mentioned by previous posters

Either Enhance Auto or Scanmytesla apps will give you true battery readings and eliminated mathematical guesswork, just need a OBDII reader in conjunction with either App

You can also run the onboard battery health test in the menu Controls > Service > Battery Health

But be warned - the test can be up to 18 hrs and needs to be initiated when the battery is at a very low SoC as the battery needs to be discharged.

Since your battery test will recalibrate the vehicle’s BMS, you may see your vehicle’s range adjusted after the test. Keep in mind that the range of your vehicle hasn’t been affected and the vehicle is simply displaying a more accurate estimate of its range.

Collected the Model 3 RWD today, after all the messing about.

Well worth it and delighted with it. It is a lot of car for the money. Im not sure what is close to it for under €38000? I managed 134w/km on the way home.

I got a BG Sync for the charger for it. Reviews seem decent and the price was much lower than the Zappi. Would have like the Tesla charger but the lack of energy management was a worry for me.

    Thanks again for the advice

All the best and you're right - nothing coming close to that price around!👍

Hi all I have a 2025 Tesla Model 3 with squeaky brakes when it's raining or wet out. I've looked it up and a few places says it’s normal but I find it very annoying. I did the brake burnishing thing a couple of months ago and that  cleared the squeaking but over the last two weeks it’s come back with the change in weather.  It only happens at low speeds as I’m about to stop. Is this something I should log with Tesla or is it just something I have to put up with? Cheers.

Tesla for some reason reports only motor consumption in trip details however there is energy app that I think reports more accurate usage.

Do some hard braking now and again and that should solve it. Otherwise log a ticket, it might need some lubrication. Ranger should be able to do it on your drive

Once a week set regen to low (if the car has that option), and it means once a week you’ll exercise the friction brakes which will keep them clean.

  • Registered Users, Registered Users 2 Posts: 719 ✭✭✭Paul MCM

cheers lads, I don’t have the option to set the regen to low. The only option seems to be to go into service mode and turn regen off.

Just brake it hard a few times on an empty road and you will be grand.

Drive like you used to when you were 18 :) Keep the go pedal down longer approaching roundabouts and the like. Use the physicals.

    Two quick questions :

The "Forward collision warning" - I've seen this "in action" when being driven to collect my car, top of the screen had a red ish animation with a regular bong sound. I have it set to early but I never seen it "warn" me. I'm not trying to tailgate anyone, and have it set to "early" but it doesn't seem to matter how close or far I'm from a car in front of me, no warning happens, at any speeds….

The "Lane departure avoidance" - this is toggled on, should that be warning me if I'm drifting out of my lane? Tried it on the N25 (when noone infant or behind me) was well past the yellow line but not a beep out of the car….

Never had safety features like this on my previous cars, so just wondering what is the expected behaviour….

    Forward collision warning

For me I notice this when I accelerate whilst the car in front of me is slowing down, try that

    Lane departure avoidance

This is not 100% in my experience, I could be avoiding a pothole when it usually comes on but sometimes not, the odd time in fairness I could drift and it catches it

No squeaky brakes for me- regen all the way!🚗

I think lane avoidance can be very intrusive on non motorway roads. There is a junction near me on a non lined road and every time I approach it I get the warning which can be very annoying after a while. Same thing happens intermittently on narrow roads without or without lines. As you say if you move out or closer to a ditch to avoid a pothole it you get the warning.

A lot of these driver aids are great on perfectly aligned motorways but can be more annoying than anything elsewhere

I live in the sticks and have to drive about a mile on a non lined road and didn't get a single warning yet in the 3 weeks having the car. Was bracing for beeps everyday. Even if I have another car oncoming and have the wheel on grass I get no warning.
The car thinks for most part that I'm in the correct lane, not realising a ditch on either side. I'm happy it isn't beeping on me there to be fair, but I thought it in reality should

Since the update last week, im having a really strange issue and wondering if anyone else is experiencing something similar. Basically the car thinks im leaving a child in the car, everytime i exit it even though there obviously isnt one. Everytime i park up and walk away i get the alert on my phone and the car flashes red and beeps, I have disabled the feature in the menu but its still happening, the car is empty, nothing on the seats and ive tried to clean the camera at the rearview mirror but still happens. Ive also tried the two button reset. Very strange, i think ill have to log a service call

Turn off Advanced Update preference if you have it enabled, so you only download proven and stable versions.

No, literally as soon as you lock the car the alert goes off… its very strange, happens at both day and night when its dark etc.

  • Registered Users, Registered Users 2 Posts: 16,112 ✭✭✭✭AndyBoBandy

I presume you've done a 2 button reset? Its worth doing after every software update.. to clear out any bugs or niggles…

There's a reason I stopped installing updates for about 18 months or so..

while we’re on the topic of insects does anyone else find way more in their car than previous cars? There’s constantly 1 or 2 small flies in my car , found a spider web last week behind the steering wheel area. Is there an open area that makes it a lot easier for insects to get in?
