Mine went from 42 to 37 a couple weeks back. I inflated to 44 as they were only reaching around 39 around noon parked in covered carpark. Model Y on 19s

0% finance now on the Model 3.

Only the LR AWD and Performance models. 0.99% on the other ones.

Same as MYJ, except the Performance model is 6.25% being so new. I expect the finance to lower on that by years end. Maybe even to zero.

friend of mine thinking of buying this Std Range Plus RWD - is 28900 high for a 2021. i think he'd be better off getting a new std range?

  • Moderators, Society & Culture Moderators Posts: 41,350 Mod ✭✭✭✭Gumbo

It’s high because he’s buying from a main dealer so it will be inherently higher than private or small dealers, just like any other car.

Your friend has to decide if the increased cost is worth it for the Enhanced Auto Pilot and the additional years bumper to bumper warranty you get from Tesla.

It’s a nice colour with the upgraded 19” wheels too so looks well.

Just do a good comparison with the cars for sale on DoneDeal and see how the numbers work.

Hi all, looking at getting my first EV and eyeing up the Model 3. Would likely be going used. Most advertised are 2020-2022, would there be anything majorly missing from these models/any issues with the software compared to say a 2024 or newer model?

  • Registered Users, Registered Users 2 Posts: 13,067 ✭✭✭✭mfceiling

Tesla send over the air software updates to all model 3's. So the update that will be sent to a 2025 car will be the same one sent to a 2019 car.

No it won't, software is generation specific, eg a 2019 is well pre Ryzen chip so will not get a lot of interface improvements

My stuff on Adverts, mostly Tesla Pre Highland Model 3

2019 & 2020 cars came from Fremont, U.S.A. & from 2021 onwards all Model 3's came from China, and during the switchover from Fremont to China, the SR+/Standard Range/RWD (base model) version's battery changed over to the LFP battery, which is recommended to be charged to 100% at least once per week, and pretty much any time you charge it, whereas the 2019 & 2020 SR+ battery is the same type of battery that's in the LR & P versions, where it's recommended to only charge them to 80% for daily driving (but it's absolutely no issue to to to 100% when you need to).

Just prior to the changeover to China production, there was an interior refresh on the Model 3, heat pump as standard, chrome delete, double glazing etc… so some 202 cars will have the appearance of being a China car (refresh) but still retained the original non LFP battery (this cars WLTP is 428km, up from the non heat pump versions WLTP of 409km, then once the LFP battery started arriving, the WLTP became 446km

There are about 13 Model 3's on Donedeal for sub €20k at the moment.

Had my first longish (for me anyway) drive with the M3H RWD. Wexford to Dublin airport holiday blue car park, a week parked up and back. 320km in total.

Charged to 100%, on the way up had the cruise at 115 km/h but as there was a major accident on the N11 ended up sitting in traffic for over an hour. Car actually turned itself off we were there so long. Had it in low power mode once parked up, had 63% left on the battery (When starting the journey at home the screen was indicating 58% on arrival)

Got back to the car a week later with 61% on the battery, although I preheated it as soon as we got onto the shuttle bus so herself isn’t missing the warm weather for another while.

Got home with 22% left, doing 120km/h, sometimes a bit over to overtake.

This was the only thing that I was worried about moving to an EV, to get this journey done without stopping to charge. The sat nav did bring me off the M11 for about 200meters once for no good reason was the only weird thing.

Total cost of the journey €6.81, the toll on the M50 was more (€7.60) not even mentioning 2 bottles of water in Mallorca airport at €9.20.

About 2k km on the car now and it is a delight, so far. Best part, I woke up to a full “tank” this morning 🤣

If you set the minimum time saving to justify leaving your route to 5 mins, you'll no longer get those minor reroute "optimisations".

  • Registered Users, Registered Users 2 Posts: 514 ✭✭✭Izy

have it at 20 minutes, no idea why that one popped up. The one to avoid the pile up on the motorway came about a minute late, couldn’t get into the lane to get of the motorway…

So it worked that time as intended, just a bit late, no idea for the second one.

Very informative thank you very much! I don't have much of a brand loyalty and the used Model 3s just seem to be the best bang for your buck on the market. Thinking between that and a Kia Niro, gonna start test driving and see what feels best!

eNiro is a very good car. We have a 2021 since new. But an M3 it ain’t. They are not really comparable with regards to performance, handling etc

Range is very similar in fairness. The eNiro also has Apple car play if that’s your thing but i never use it personally. I rather the UI on the Tesla.

What would you all use for keeping the car clean? After being a week parked up at the airport, it looked completely covered in dust…

I had some car shampoo/foam left that I got with my Karcher power washer, so used that up and found some Demon car shampoo that I then used with the 2 bucket method…

Is there any products you prefer or is the above combination ok? Can get the for Karcher solution for €18 in Halfords and could get some shampoo to use after that? Or is that overkill? What would you be using the wipe the interior? I just used a damp microfibre cloth for now and it does the job, but not sure if it is a good idea long term?

I’m not looking to become a car detailer now, just to give it a bath now and again. Cheers.

    Links to recommend products appreciated.

Generally I use whatever pre wash - Reflect, washme etc

Then I use ADBL snow foam.
Sometimes I use that again as the shampoo.
I then dry with a large drying towel.
then spray on some QD, Carpro, Graphene, AG, depending on the car. Wipe dry with a MF cloth.

Nothing special but I do all my cars with that, irrespective of the brand.

Then obviously you’ll have tar remover, iron X, specific wheel cleaner, tyre/rubber cleaner and whatever dressings etc

You could just use a quick detailer if the car is only dusty

  • Moderators, Society & Culture Moderators Posts: 41,350 Mod ✭✭✭✭Gumbo

Hose it down first to remove the dust/loose debris.
If you care about swirls of course.
