I noticed increased road noise at motorway speed.
Couple of days later I noticed a squeak when turning the wheel when stationary.
decided to nip it in the bud, get the whole lot checked over.

That's good to know, thanks. My Brother wants to buy a 2022 M3 next year, so I'll be watching out for that issue. He was gutted when I told him I sold mine.

Is the Tesla pet liner worth the price over any more premium Amazon pet liner?

Have a golden retriever that we bring to the beach quite a bit, but a cheaper version (€40 quid ish) pet liner didn’t exactly hold up with time… the back seat of the OH’s Mazda needs proper hoovering after every trip with that on it, and sand just seems to pop up everywhere

And no, I won’t have the dog in the boot of the car 😉

I don't know the answer exactly, but what I can say is the Tesla stuff I have received is always very well made. Every from Cups to Roof Racks and T-Shirts. I wouldn't expect the pet liner to be anything other than top quality.

I bought it and I'm very happy with it, fits perfectly and includes protection for the doors. It's well made as far I can see and has held up well for the last year I've had it.

Anyone sitting on unused Tesla credit and want make a deal of some sort for ordering it for me?

  • Registered Users, Registered Users 2 Posts: 1,589 ✭✭✭thecomedian

I’m supposed to be collecting it tomorrow but I’ve been waiting for my final trade in offer. I starting messaging them about it last week (so I’d have a bit of time to sell it privately if it was really bad). They said it was being dealt with. Though I’d no update at the start of this week, I thought it was getting a bit close but even if it was a bit lower I didn’t mind.

The estimate they gave me was €6100 and they finally came back to me at 12:30 today with an offer of €2,300!

    Is this something they do?

    It’s a 2013 330D bmw.

I understand it will be lower but such a difference between their estimated value and final offer.

it’s pushed back to next Wednesday now as the finance wasn’t set up properly on their side.
    Very messy.

Sounds like classic Tesla bait and switch tactics.

Have you know this to happen to anyone else. I haven't had this experience. The purchase process was very straight forward. Only issue I've had is they haven't credited 1000km referral credit and the customer service has been abysmal.

No, but I've heard this happening to a lot of folks at various places - facebook grousp, various Tesla forums, reddit etc etc. There is perhaps an innocent explanation for each and every case… may be… but perhaps this setup suits Tesla as they are the ones to stand benefit from it.

I certainly am not the first one to think of this as 'bait and switch'.

Interestingly, I've found the whole pre sales team and test drive process to be fantastic.

Still confused as hell as to the differences between the cruise control packages though.

    sorry yes. I remember now.
    get it up on DoneDeal.

Were you saying it needs some work though?

  • Moderators, Society & Culture Moderators Posts: 41,121 Mod ✭✭✭✭Gumbo

It all depends on when the original estimate was given to when you actually go to trade it in.

The dealers are bidding sight unseen for the car so they will always low ball it. But €2100 is low for that car, but the OP has said it needs brakes all rough and there’s a noise from the suspension, I’m. It sure that is playing into it?

it also has 183000 miles on it, that’s near 300,000km. As good a 30d bmw is, that’s a tough car to sell.

Don't buy any upgrades for Enhanced AP or FSD if you order a new car.

This will only bump up your VRT and they can be purchased as a software upgrade through the app at any time after delivery if you so want.

You have a small chance if you contact them and tell them that the trade in offer has dropped below what you agreed on and that its no longer viable to continue the deal. They could tell you tough luck but its no harm to try.

This is common enough with them, you get a quote, then it takes more than 30 days to get a car, then your quote drops by lots.

    Best of luck with it

Dont have it myself - just have basic Autopilot and I do 40K km a year and never felt the need.

FSD probably not but EAP may be useful - but as I dont have any experience, other posters with these upgrades would better placed to answer this.

But earlier this year I did purchase a S3XY Knob + Commander which has some great feature enhancements like autopilot re-engagement after lane change which is brillant for long motorway commutes. But I would suggest getting used to the car before considering a purchase such as this.

I had EAP on 3 cars.
Would I pay €3800 for it, no. I got it on older Model S’s and CPO Model 3 that come with it as standard.

The summon is fun. I used it more to mess around with the lads and only ever used it functionally once where I revered into a parking spot and needed to put large boxes in the boot.

Self park, like any other car, works but it’s quicker to do yourself.

The best part was navigate on autopilot. Lane changes while on cruise control is good. But it used to be a lot more open than in recent years where regulations clamped it down a bit.

Wouldn't pay for Enhanced AP or FSD, absolutely not worth it and I had it on a previous Tesla I bought used

My stuff on Adverts, mostly Tesla Pre Highland Model 3

I remember when Tesla first rolled out the Model 3 — it felt like a glimpse into the future, compact yet powerful, and suddenly electric cars didn’t feel like science projects anymore. Now, with the V4.0 version, it’s almost like watching a child grow into adulthood. The updates aren’t just about longer range or sleeker software, it’s about how the car itself has evolved with its drivers.

I once spoke with a friend who had the earlier Model 3; he loved it but always joked about “range anxiety” and how charging stations felt like treasure hunts. Fast forward to today, with the V4.0 upgrades — improved charging speeds, smarter systems, and refined design — that anxiety has softened into confidence.

It feels less like owning a car and more like being part of a movement, each version pushing the story of clean, intelligent travel forward. The Model 3 isn’t just about specs anymore; it’s about how it’s woven itself into daily life — like your phone, constantly updating and quietly shaping the way you move through the world.

When that appeared online first it seemed chintzy and twee, having it regurgitated on a small Irish forum just seems needy.

Anyone else's ambient lighting setting just randomly turning itself off lately? It's started to happen every few weeks for me, i had put it down initially to kids or the wife just turning it off, but this Tuesday i was going to the airport, en-route noticed it was off, turned it back got to airport and parked up, got back in the car 2 days later and they were turned off again..nobody else was in the car and i dont think you can disable them from the app. Strange

Log a ticket in the APP. Give them times and days you noticed it happening. Mine has always been on. I have the commander partly controlling the functions on it too.

Interested in others experiences of the accuracy of the M3 range projection and % remaining on arrival. I rarely use it but decided to take note of it on a recent 193km trip with 130km on motorway.

While charging the energy screen was projecting a 10% arrival home percentage but I pushed this to 15% in case I had to do a detour. The screen said this trip was normally driven at less than 100kph ( it could have been as low as 88kph but I didn’t take proper note so can’t be certain).

In any case not long into journey the projection was already reduced to 11% so I turned off the AC (which eventually saved 2%) so I could do the detour if necessary. In any case I arrived home with 6% using 13% more than projected even though I sat at 110kph on AP for the full motorway stint.

Bottom line I won’t be relying on the accuracy of these projections in the future and will always add at least 10% onto the projected arrival home % to avoid having to make an unnecessary splash and dash to make it home

It has never been more than 2% out for me on long Dublin to Galway, Belfast or Donegal trips. I find the projection alters only when you drive faster as it’s based on the national speed limits of the route.

  • Registered Users, Registered Users 2 Posts: 6,164 ✭✭✭creedp

Interesting. I was very surprised by the 13% deviation in the projection for my trip given that the majority was motorway where I drove 10kph below the speed limit and at or below the limit for the remainder of the trip

Like all computers, there could be a bug but I’ve never seen it to that extreme myself.
