I said it here before lads, I don’t know Brady, he’s a good keeper, but I saw enough when he sat and openly backed a youth board system of sticking at odds that couldn’t even get one other person or club in the room to back it. He has to be a yes man or he wouldn’t be getting the role.

They could run off the U14 League finals in a day in Breffni some years so it could be done with championship. Be a great occasion for all involved but no, we’ll stick a few random club games in there.

Mark McHugh being tipped to take over as Westmeath manager. I see a few of the teams in Division 2 have added to their backroom team. Davey Burke joining his home county kildare, and Aaron Kernan in with Meath.

Kildallan beat Killeshandra last night which means Redhills get through to the quarters on 2 points. If Kildallan had have won by 8 instead of 1 point they'd have gone through despite the We Are Cavan lads totally dismissing them.

Think this is only the second time a team has got through on 2 points the last being Mullahoran a few years back.

Which shows the format is a bit too soft. Bring in a backdoor system or straight knockout.

Or is 8 teams too many to come out of a 12 team format.

Would top 6 to get through with top 2 directly through to the semis be a fairer system?

There are a few teams in that Junior Championship who are not far off been the next Maghera and Corlough.

They will unlikely want to change as that would be less revenue for Cavan stream. But a lot of pointless games before it gets competitive.

The U21/20 competition use to be a good competition played over October/November as knockout. Now they play a load of games to eliminate just a few teams

Theres always a vaccuum though as they say.

I think its very unfair that clubs like Ballyhaise, Cuchullians, Ramor, Crosserlough etc. cant have 2nd teams in these championships. Why should they be punished for having big numbers.

Do like they do in other counties that you can play for the 2nd team once you havent made an appearance for the first. Once you get any game time for the 1st team ineligible; instead of first 10's and 15's which is hard to regulate.

You’d almost swear for a county of our size that having 40 clubs is too many but surely someone would have copped that years ago?

In 10 years time you would imagine KIllashandra and Kildallan could be amalgamated; Shannon Gaels and Swad; Drung and Redhills and Kill maybe.

After that most clubs have good numbers.

Kildallan the only outlier out of the 7 clubs mentioned above; they should have 2 strong teams for a town that size.

But that would bring you down to 35 which I believe that's what the Peter Quinn report recommended at the time..

Colin Kelly has Kingscourt playing some good football. Moving the ball fast into the forwards. When there is a forward like Morris no point hand passing for an eternity. Ballinagh were very poor. Improved a bit in the second half but Kingscourt still finished strong and won by 10.

After that most clubs have good numbers? Drumalee? Munterconnaught analgamate at all competitive underage levels with Maghera.

Ballymachugh & Mountnugent are amalgamating at some levels.

The heavily populated areas are around towns now and it shows: the coming clubs from looking at juvenile football are Butlersbridge, Killygarry, Cootehill, Cuchulainns & Ramor.
