The “draws” are a farce. Earlier in the year I was chatting to a man whose club played on a Sunday afternoon. He was amazed how many of another club’s supporters and players were there. He then expected it and they got them in the “draw” that evening.
any update on S&C and physio for McCabe’s backroom team?
0.00962% (≈ 1 in 10,395).
Fat men in gilets have no shame.
What are the odds on the draw for Senior coming out the way that it did
1V2, 3v4,5v6,7v8,9v10 ,11v12 in the table😂.Draws should be done in the open
Disgraceful dragging Ballinagh and Laragh all the way to Miltown in West Cavan.
You certainly can't sit back even if you have a big lead either as Mullahoran found out, sat way too far back off Gowna in the second half of their game and let Gowna go for 2 pointers which they did.
Yeah, use of the wind a big consideration now too. If you're against it second half against opposition with decent kickers, you'd better make hay first half.
The new rules don't allow weaker teams to have 15 men sitting in their own half taking all the space away or to commit cynical fouls to slow up the game. The gulf was always there but the old rules allowed the weaker teams to not be beaten by as much. I certainly do not want to go back to that.
Another thing we have get used to is larger score lines now, a 10 - 12 point lead generally used to be insurmountable that can now we wiped out in 10 - 15 minutes of football. Winning margins are also going to be wider where the better teams generally have more options for 2 pointers, look at the All Ireland final or even just back to the Gowna game at the weekend - they had 7 x 2 pointers by 6 different players, Mullahoran got 3.
Ah ok, forgot. Just seems a bit out of the way for both.
Yeah exactly this. You need local club volunteers for this, and Ramor would be at their own game
Almost certain they don't have clubs hosting a game when their team is playing at same time like would be the case here with Ramor playing Gowna in Lavey.
Thought Lough v Kingscourt would be in Virgina instead of Cootehill.
Afaik and could be wrong, originally there was a Redbridge underage amalgamation years ago between Bultersbridge and Redhills, then Drumalee joined when their numbers went low and obviously a neighbouring club of the Bridge but soon after they went out on own when their numbers increased leaving Redhills and Drumalee in an unnatural amalgamation.
I see ballygunner in Waterford are going to have 2 senior teams competing in the senior hurling championship next year.
Senior games are all on at 2pm next Sunday
Whats the connection that Redhills are joined with Drumalee. Redhills is 8 or 9 mile from Cavan town
You can add Kingscourt and Baileboro to that mix too, both fielding multiple teams at different age grades buoyed by massive population growth in towns in east of the county.
It is going to get even more starker in years to come between the strongest and weakest clubs. Mentioned before but should really have a similar model to Westmeath where the likes of strongest clubs' reserve teams can move into Junior championship and have relegation from there to a Junior B, should happen in Cavan too but we know it won't
Drumalee are going on there own next year at U12 and going forward will be fielding on there own which will leave Redhills in bother and it will be interesting to see what direction they turn.
Some awful hammerings in Cavan Senior Championship this year.
Massive gulf between some teams.
Major issues in Cavan senior championship that didnt exist few years back.
I agree with everything you say but the numbers the clubs you mentioned have in comparison to those in far West Cavan / Redhills / Drung; theres no comparison.
Drumlaee are a town club and should have better numbers. The Munchies are in a prime location commuter distance from Dublin and I'm sure they have seen some benefits from this.
Mountnugent seem to have better numbers at underage in recent years and seem to be fielding by themselves at alot of levels.
Cant speak for Ballymachugh.
As you've mentioned though the suburban clubs around Cavan town have been the big winners of demographic change in the county and are thriving.as a result.
Ramor didn't leave second gear this evening was another training game. Thankfully we have a proper humdinger next up to get ready for knockout football.
I'd safely say Galligan is looking at McEvoy and regrets the telling him to pass it backwards at every opportunity. He was magnificent this evening as was Jack Brady.
Provided we keep the main men fit we should be there or thereabouts this year.
Shercock with 4 defeats in Intermediate yet they beat Killygarry in a league Semi. I dont think Clarke has featured in championship though. Cavan Gaels v Killygarry will decide who gets to the quarter final.
We’ll see how they go in must-win games. Ramor barely got out of second gear against them and were a different team a week later.
The top teams know they can sit on idle through the group stage. Laragh, Castlerahan and Ballinagh are way off the pace. Lacken, Lavey & Shercock are showing what hanging on at senior and getting into that losing habit does to teams.
SFC Round 4 draw
Killygarry showed a bit of improvement too, I thought they'd have been blown away.
I agree with you, but just going on their performances this year against Ramor and Gowna this year they have competed with them.
Ah now. It was a nothing group game. Ballyhaise, for example, beat Gowna last year and they aren’t exactly competing with the big three. When they beat one of the top teams in a knock out game, you can make that statement.
Don't think so. Has had leg injuries that have plagued him a bit recently when playing handball, so I'd imagine kicking out repeatedly etc wouldn't suit him. Think he just togs out when fit and when it allows
Has he ever been tried in goals.
He has togged out periodically the last few years when around and fit. Has been rare though
