That's a beast of a storm if it is to happen, one to watch maybe.

Going to Malaga coastal region for 8 days. Hopefully will catch a night time thunderstorm while I'm there, had 3 of them last year on my holidays including one very wet day.

Bring back the heat please and yes thunderstorms abroad are the best 👌 hopefully it's not too unsettled between now and when you go away

Models are looking as unsettled as I’ve seen all year. With high pressure well to our south and lows getting moved swiftly westward it’s weather whiplash compared to the first 3 weeks if August.

Not much support in the models for our almost annual warm and dry start to September. Temperatures generally average or slightly below average over the coming 2 weeks with rain or showers most days, nothing overly wet but looks overall quite showery.

Above is for Dublin and not overly wet, driest spot. Different story for western counties. GFS over 6 inches of rain for western Galway/Mayo.

ECM similar over next 10 days

Arpege is showing some very strong gusts into Galway bay Saturday afternoon, still a ways off but one to watch

The bottom winter chart is something we all crave, we haven't verified one since 2018. Of course since then we've had plenty of similar stuff in FI but it generally just stays there and something happens that results in a busted flush every time. Hopefully next winter we will get something in Leinster that's better than balancing a snowball upon a postage stamp. We're heading into the 8th year where Leinster last saw a proper widespread snowfall with many places only seeing brief dustings here and there bar a few exceptions in some lucky areas. We've had a few easterlies since 2018 but all of them uneventful either too early or too late or at the right time but just dry.

It's not great but there is a tendency for pressure to not be as low going into the second week of September. Not high pressure by any means but perhaps less rain or showers which we'll have plenty of until then. Temperatures around average throughout.

Not much change in the models for this coming week with low pressure dominating and fairly poor temperatures nationwide.

However, last 2 Ecm runs have shown some warm air surging from the continent in a classic plume setup

    IMG_0862.jpeg IMG_0864.jpeg

This setup is reliant on low pressure stalling far enough west in the Atlantic, while other runs show low pressure over us and the warmth being confined to the east of England like on this Ecm ai run.

Overall nothing overly exciting in the near term but maybe we’ll see our annual last glimpse of Summer in September

Summer has come to a close so I've opened the Autumn 120+ hour thread.
