Although it's been rumoured for a while it would be set in the modern era, it's now officially confirmed by EA:

    https://www.ign.com/articles/exclusive-first-battlefield-concept-art-revealed-vince-zampella

There's also some token concept art, but it doesn't reveal anything is is similar to past stuff in terms of art style.

Some of his comments do look promising ie BF3/4 etc but I'll be holding off on any pre-orders until day1.

Personally I'd prefer a return to BF2/3 and BC2. Bf3 was miles better than BF4 I thought and hopefully they drop half the damn attachments this time. Too many attachments means too much time spent balancing the game.

And damnit.bring back joystick support and stop making jets noob friendly…any skilled pilots out there need to earn their kills and not just constantly spam missiles and fly in circles like in BF2042.

It's light on details, but there's reports of EA going big on player testing on BF6:

But that's also the kind of thing every publisher claims after a poorly received release so it's hard to know if it means anything.

Supposedly an open beta in August, release in October, but no early access. Given the torrent of leaks, I'm not sure what multiplayer aspects are left to reveal.

Seems plausible as their usual release window is usually late October to early November. Open beta sounds about right but the Labs/CTE is still working away and will continue just like it did to fix Battlefield 4. However it will fail if they don't get the key ingredients, maps, era, classes and squadding up. Battlefield 2042 got 90% of all these wrong.

The gameplay reminds me of Battlefield 3

There's access info for the beta here:

    https://www.ea.com/games/battlefield/battlefield-6/news/lock-and-load-for-the-open-beta

preload is the 4th, and if you've signed up for the Labs tests before July 31st, you'll have early access on the 7th.

Anyone know if this is part of XBox ultimate or do I need to purchase it? Thanks

Doesn't look like it. They've announced the release date and opened pre-orders. If it was going to by day 1 on Gamepass, they would have mentioned it.

Thank you, good to know. It looks great. I'll definitely be getting it one way or another.

It won't be on GamePass at launch, but given that EA Access is part of GamePass Ultimate, that would entitle you to a 10% discount and perhaps the possibility of a 10 hour trial.

Early access email confirmations are going out. If you had Labs access or registered for Labs prior to July 31st, you can play on the 7th with the same details. Pre-load opens the 4th.

Not a hope I would pre-order after the disaster that was 2042 but it looks super promising. Was planning on an upgrade anyway so about an hour after the MP trailer I ordered a 9700K + 9070XT.

If there's anyone who still wants an early access key for the open beta, I've one spare, so first to ask can have it.

    Preload is open.

So now you can all rush to install it and then spend three days staring at it until the open beta actually begins.

First BF since BF3 for me, big fan of series back in the day but never played any since 2012 ish. this feels like previous games , tad feel of BC2 from it. loving that you can play through Steam so that was a big selling point for me

For anyone who still needs early access to the open beta, there'll be more key drops from Twitch on the 7th and 8th, but with possibly limited numbers.

So here we are again :)

BF1 was ok but full of player crutches and assists to the point where it was annoying after a while.

BF5 was also average at best.

BF2042 is a weird one, i enjoyed sometimes but couldnt get past that input lag baked into the engine plus the whole setting was cringey as hell.

For me BF3and BC2 were the peak of the franchise.

I had lost all hope but im very impressed with all the gameplay ive seen.

Cautiously optimistic my favourite franchise might be back but i will wait until i give it a right good go buying.

Ya left out bf4. That ended up a great game. Still play it sometimes.

Im optimistic, but got burned with BF2042.

Loving the destruction that's possible and getting real BF3- BF4 vibes off it.

Still annoyed they won't increase the squad size, even for custom games on custom maps.

We heard anything yet about the single player campaign?

I just wish they'd re-master some of the better maps, as it seems they keep re-doing the same ones all the time.

Like there was so many great ones in BF3 and BF4

    Silk Road

    Zavod

    Golmud Railway

    Siege of Shanghai

    Gulf of Oman

    Rogue Transmission

    Lancang Dam

    Damavand Peak

    Noshahr Canals

    Wake island

    Paracel Storm

While operation metro and locker were grenade spam shitfests, they were fun also.

Left it out as it was very similar to BF3 the ones i mentioned were a big change in direction from DICE.

Dont forget it took 2 years after launch to ever fix the netcode after the birth of DICE LA.

It was a shambles for a long time.

Looking at the footage, they need to dial down the building damage a bit. They are collapsing way too easily.

Looking forward to the beta though.
