”It’s only the league” cute hoors are the worst.

There has been a lot of criticism about Tipperary's use of a sweeper and that Cork did not change their tactics to counteract that. But as someone pointed out on the bloodandbandage forum, Tipp had the sweeper in place for the first half, not just the second half and Cork were six points up at half-time. Obviously a change should have been made to the style of play in the second half; run the ball more and don't hit it direct into the full-forward line.

But the real problem was that once again Cork's workrate dropped significantly in the second half. That happened twice already this year in big games; the league final against Tipp and the Munster first round game against Clare. It happened for the entire game against Limerick in the Munster round robin game.

I remember Pat Ryan's interview after the league final and he voiced his unhappiness at the second half performance. So he was obviously aware of it and when it happened again against Clare he must have been even more aware.

But he wasn't able to fix it. The statistics regarding how many times Tipp overturned us in possession last Sunday was something unbelievable. That was really why we lost. Lethargic in the second half, beaten to every breaking ball.

How many times under Cody did Kilkenny go in at half-time with a big lead? Did they take their foot off the gas in the second half? Did they hell. If they were twenty points up at half-time they would want to go forty points up in the second half.

That comes from the training ground, nowhere else.

Brolly was a football analyst. Why would anyone take seriously what he has to say about hurling. His views are no more special that mine or yours.

In fairness he may not be a hurler but what he is saying is spot on whether we like him or not. If a defeat hurts Cork they will come back to put it right but I don't think they have it in them.

You get your 5 or 6 matches, you give players minutes. You don’t figure out anything tactically about other teams.

    It means absolutely nothing.

Sounds like we have Pat Ryan's replacement lined up.

Never heard of Dan Casey. Social media ?? Are you serious? If someone posting crap in Social media bothers you, then you really should go for an assessment. Social media is generally a cesspool. I understand teenagers getting worked up about things on social media. But adults should know better. Again, I go back to attention seeking. You have thousands of people recording themselves giving views of various things and posting them on the net for other people to view. It's just self-indulgence. It means nothing. If it gets to you, then more the fool to you. Like I said, I am only going on what I experienced in the real world. Where people actually meet real people and talk to them one to one. I was saying that the Cork people that I meet at GAA matches have been fab. Great banter and humble in defeat on Sunday.

Tipp were in an almost ideal position coming in to the game, Cork had it all to lose, there was huge pressure on them.

I think that Cork have 2 leaders that need to be bossing their positions Rob Downey and Brian Hayes, they give the confidence to the rest, if they are subdued then the dynamism that is this teams hallmark is effected, and the danger men especially Fitzgibbon, O'Mahoney & Coleman who can dominate are much less effective.

He is much more than some idol idiot on social media.

He presents the Big Red Bench sports show on RedFM.

He is frequently on Off The Ball providing Cork GAA insights.

He is one of the main contributors on Sports Joe.

He hosts the Cork based sports podcast the 3 Amigo's.

Again, the context of this is in relation to the question of why Cork are disliked outside the county. If you do not want to accept that the venomous vitriol that this guy comes out with is one example of this, that’s fine.

Sure no wonder the bould Dan is a little bit rude with the shite some people say about us.😉 If he bothers you that much then why not just stop listening to him, or send in an email to Red FM or something?🤣 Or just post some examples of what he's said then and let the rest of us decide?

Disregard everything i said in that above post!

@sasol I've just looked at his Instagram page. Yes the man is indeed a total and utter clown! Up Beamish, Up Cork City and Up Kneecap was one of his posts. A stupid Vince McMahon of the WWE meme about Cork winning the whole lot after Dublin beat Limerick, and other posts taking the piss out of Limerick in a very childish manner. Rebelwackery is what you call his act imo.

I think some Cork supporters are still a bit deluded about this Cork team even after Sunday. I would consider them 'flat track bullies' - they look and are great when things are going their way and they can look devastating against weaker opposition but they haven't had to dog out a win when up against it. Way too much was made of their Munster final display - we (Limerick) were error strewn that day/evening/night and while Cork did take the cup home, that game did end in a draw AET. While Cork's 2nd half performance was unbelievable on Sunday, Limerick's display against Dublin was as bad but because it was a tight game, the media (and John Kiely) was all over this great Dublin display with no honest appraisal of how poorly Limerick played. It didn't take a genius to predict that Cork would cruise past Dublin and being the flat track bullies that they are, they looked great as they humiliated them but that is what Limerick should have done to Dublin too. Cork's win against Tipp in the Munster championship was a non-event so I'm afraid there were many questions still unanswered about them. Unfortunately, Limerick could be as deluded as Cork if we don't look at ourselves honestly and make some tough decisions around how our teams are prepared for next year's championship because if we keep doing the same thing, either of us could be one of the teams not getting out of Munster (sorry Waterford, I'm putting you down as definitely not getting out in 2026 either).

Glad to hear there’s multiple people and not just myself who were wondering who Dan Casey was. I’m mid-thirties so was hopeful I’m not that much out of touch! There’s obviously a subset of fans consuming this stuff.

I don't listen to any of those things. But if I did, and if I didn't like what I was hearing, then I would switch it off. I wouldn't get emotional about these things. Just because I thought that one dlckhead existed in a population of approx 600,000 wouldn't make biased against that team. Every county has people that may be good or bad or obnoxious or kind or rude or quiet or noisy or attention seeking or mild or jealous or angry etc.

I think a lot of people were up for tipperary on Sunday because they were the underdogs. If Cork were playing Kilkenny or Limerick, and if Kilkenny or Limerick were hot favourites, then I would be shouting for Cork.

Anyway, like I said, I am just going on my experiences of meeting Cork people at matches. They have always been a pleasure to be beside. I don't take any notice what goes on on Social Media platforms. I am just basing these comments on people that actually attend the matches.

do you think losing every game & being relegated is a good thing?

  • Registered Users, Registered Users 2 Posts: 15,196 ✭✭✭✭callaway92

Clare this year (assuming you’re referring to them) did not give a rats arse about going down.

  • Registered Users, Registered Users 2 Posts: 395 ✭✭El Vino

Maybe not at the time but I'd say if they looked honestly at how they performed afterwards they would recognise it as part of a slight decline in overall standards.

Alot of rumors floating around of a bust up in the hotel and the same few players clashing once again after something picked up wrong in the dressing room at half time - Won't name them as for now only rumours, Wonder is there any truth in it as something definitely happened at half time...

  • Registered Users, Registered Users 2 Posts: 2,432 ✭✭✭awaywithyou

ah yes the oul bust up in the dressing room at half time… was wondering how long it would take for that one to come out… that rumour is as old as the hills… when kerry lost armagh in 2002 all ire final… there was supposed to be a bust up in the dressing room at halftime…. ive heard that one loads of times… funny the only team i never heard that rumour about was KK.. i think we can all be certain that there was no bust ups while Brian Cody was manager

Well Hoggie and the Downeys didn’t stay for the meal

Rumours flying around Cork hurling today, I will not repeat because I cannot verify but if and a big if any of its true then management and certain players have serious questions to answer. Have slightly differing but similar stories from 2 well placed sources (one in media) - both not pretty reading.

  • Registered Users, Registered Users 2 Posts: 1,321 ✭✭✭spakman

Those type of stories always come out after a heavy final defeat, when people are searching for answers and someone to blame.

Better off to just ignore rumours until emotions have cooled a bit - although, that could take a while.

Hearing from a few sources I would trust, there was some serious enough incidents, both at ht and at the hotel.

  • Registered Users, Registered Users 2 Posts: 1,321 ✭✭✭spakman

They were 6 up at HT though, what would prompt a falling out at that stage

Who should come off apparently, a few choice words, maybe misconstrued, but more and more stories from various sources would indicate something serious happened. Im sure the truth will come out.

  • Registered Users, Registered Users 2 Posts: 4,738 ✭✭✭JeffKenna

Something seems to have happened alright. Players all split up and came back in different groups at different times.

brolly loves to put the boot in big style when a team is down, because he was such a serial winner himself. Dining out on one lucky all Ireland for the past 30 odd years

  • Registered Users, Registered Users 2 Posts: 3,439 ✭✭✭JanuarySnowstor

I was in the burlington night before and the atmosphere seemed odd to me. Saw a few players, like 3 heading down the road, heads down didn't want to be acknowledged and that. I think rumours of a bust up are quite possible and would explain the mighty collapse. The truth should come out, if only to examine this issue so it doesn't happen again next season! The whole country is talking about Corks collapse
