Im waiting on a refund from Rathwood nearly 4 weeks now. Entirely unacceptable. Anyone any experience with them and getting refunds issued. nearly 4 weeks ago they cancelled the order and said they would send a refund. They keep telling me they have asked for a refund to be issued. (fuming now)

Would put me off ordering off them again tbh!

Yeah took about 4 weeks to get a refund from them recently. Awful to deal with.

    An atrocious crowd

I’d be on to the credit card company straight away

There has to be some kind of consumer protection about this save and wait ****, people have no problem waiting, if the date of delivery they say, is complied with, but they keep knocking it back, and not by a couple of days, but months

Would love to know how much peoples cash in held on their accounts, with them having no intention of meeting the date of shipment that they claim

seems like a real dodgy way to do business imo

I completely agree. They have just messaged me again this morning to state that their accounts department are working hard to get my money refunded to me. Absolute horse sh!7e!!

I don't think ill ever order from them again.. I dont mind waiting a weeks or so if an order is delayed but the wait was too long and the stock I received before was paper light and they apologised and offered me a partial refund of €13.50!!! It was supposed to be oak but was mixed with softwood by the looks of it. As I had opened the pallet and begun to stack it they wouldnt take it back or replace it.

Did a pre order on 5/12/24 for a garden bench for delivery 22/2/25. Delivery date missed and a week later I was advised delivery would be after end May. I did a reverse transaction through Revolut using screenshots from the Rathwood customer portal and after 4 days (including a weekend) and Revolut gave me a “temporary” full refund as Rathwood were not responding to refund requests. So I made sure to cancel the order in the Rathwood customer portal and I used the temporary refund asap to buy the same bench at the same price (using a screenshot & Google Lens) from MD O’Sheas in Charleville. Great people to chat to and do business over the phone (shoutout to the extremely efficient Eddie at MD O’Sheas). Now because I was quick to spend the temporary refund (essentially Revolut’s money) Revolut had to put pressure on Rathwood to get the actual refund because the money was no longer in my Revolut account. I’ll always use Revolut in future for prices that seem too good to be true! Hope this is helpful.

When I asked them for a refund on a delayed order they kept telling me that their account dept processed refunds in the order they were received. It was BS, they could never give me a date that the refund would be done on only that once they issued it it could take 10 days to come through to my account.

Their accounts dept must be a disaster.

their whole company sound like a disaster, I’ll never be buying from them again - paid on Feb 2nd and after multiple times, delivery time is now May 30th (after original date being March 30th, I won’t hold my breath)

Look out for my review on trustpilot if it ever gets delivered

Yeah, I put in a pre order 29th Jan for mid March delivery. First it went to April, which ok, I can live with, but then it went to 18th June. So that will be my last ever order from Rathwood.

  • Registered Users, Registered Users 2 Posts: 1,429 ✭✭✭geographica

yes, same, never again, they are full of S***e

  • Registered Users, Registered Users 2 Posts: 2,093 ✭✭✭shoegirl

Ok its now the 27th June. This has to be a record. Its gone from 16th June to April, June 16th and now end of June. I wouldn't be surprised if it ends up coming in August, although that would also suit me better.

I think what's frustrating is that wait&save customers are not usually informed upfront - you might get one email informing you of a major change, but after that one off, its only when you go into the order portal that you realise that the date of despatch has changed, yet again.

Its one thing to put up with a planned delay, its another altogether to endure completely unpredictable delivery dates that are several months behind the original date.

A woeful company and on thin ground imo

Paid in February and now they say saying end of June with push back after push back

last time I’ll ever touch them and never ever recommend them as they are full of ****, they know when taking and holding your money that they are not gonna deliver when they are promising

pity what they are doing isn’t illegal, it should be

    Never again

Their business model sucks (I hope people never get stung if they went bust for example)

Hi all, so is this a good deal? https://bit.ly/43Qjxu9

Are Kenny Fuels any good? I'm a bit wary now. The last pallet this size I ordered was from Rathwood last year and it was basically 75% kindling in size.

  • Registered Users, Registered Users 2 Posts: 2,093 ✭✭✭shoegirl

I haven't used Kenny Fuels myself but several people on here like them.

I can recommend The Log Shed (lovely guy if a very limited range), Dublin Logs (aka Kildare Logs, think they're the same company, only hitch for me was logs were slightly big for my stove), and Boyles Solid Fuels (I've only visited their depot in person and they were particularly excellent).

My saga with Rathwood continues - checked the customer portal (it no longer works from the whatsapp either, i had to find the original email) and the date has been pushed out again from late June to 18th July. I'm not even getting notifications of changes anymore. This does smack of a company teetering on the brink to be honest, its especially bad practice. This is now a 4 month delay. The only think being that honestly at this point I'd prefer to not get anything until August as there's no way I'm going to use 400kg of logs in the middle of the summer when my house is like a sauna.

and there is zero the CCPC can do about it

It finally happened. Rathwood has cancelled all coal orders awaiting delivery. Was told on the phone that an email had been sent yesterday regarding the cancellations. This was a false claim. I'm now on the refund merry-go-round, with two other orders outstanding that have little chance of happening. Check the portal if your affected with this.

Didn't even realise they sold coal!

  • Registered Users, Registered Users 2 Posts: 310 ✭✭dubguy45

I'm that angry, I posted in the wrong group. Will correct that, apologies.

  • Registered Users, Registered Users 2 Posts: 1,429 ✭✭✭geographica

Sharp practice, how much of peoples money have they deposited for months and months and not delivered, are peopl ever going to get their deliveries?

    will never touch them again

  • Registered Users, Registered Users 2 Posts: 7,575 ✭✭✭SteM

So can I just clarify, have Rathwood cancelled preorders of coal or wood? The post above says coal but this is a firewood thread.

I'd like to know because I ended up ordering cheap oak for delivery in mid-September and want to know if I should be looking for a refund, I didn't receive any email and there's no notification on the portal.

how does this look, 1.92m of oak €473 ?

    https://www.kennyfuels.ie/product/2m-kiln-dried-oak-firewood-nationwide-delivery/

Monaghans have the same 1.92 for €530 inc delivery

One stop fuels have a slightly smaller crate for €480

  • Registered Users, Registered Users 2 Posts: 3,564 ✭✭✭jamesd

They dont do coal, haven't cancelled anything.

He wrote under it that he posted in error.

  • Registered Users, Registered Users 2 Posts: 7,575 ✭✭✭SteM

He said he would correct it and didn't, it's fair to ask for clarification. He should edit the original post if he posted in error, otherwise it's just gibberish.

  • Registered Users, Registered Users 2 Posts: 3,564 ✭✭✭jamesd

Ive 3 pallets of oak orders for September delivery myself, no worries about them.

  • Registered Users, Registered Users 2 Posts: 310 ✭✭dubguy45

By correction I did mean that I would repost it in the coal post which I did. I'm not sure what needs clarification. The post is correct in what I said but put in the wrong thread. Sorry for any confusion.
