Every team employs sports psychologists. The biggest professional teams in the world do no matter what age the players are.

I think it's wrong to demean Curid and what she achieved.

A bit over the top reaction from some on here, this Limerick team won't be remembered for today, they'll be remembered for winning 5 out of 6 All Irelands, insane really for a county that hadn't won an All Ireland in nearly 50 years. Probably only Cody's great Kilkenny team would rank above them. Today will go down as probably the biggest shock in hurling since Antrim beat Offaly in 89 to reach the All Ireland final. It is the end of an era for Limerick, but, Limerick are still amongst the best teams in the country, may not feel like that this evening.

This era had to end sometime, likely a few down years to come, the team needs some refreshing, as looked tired today, but Limerick will be back and will remain competitive over the next few years.

thought we’d have enough today. Team and management probably thought so as well especially with Dublin going down to 14 so early. Touch and intensity poor all game and led to a lot of scores being conceded. Massive holes around middle sector which were exploited and led to Dublin players streaming through and getting off shots. Lost the ground battle for breaking ball which is always going to lead to trouble. Probably the end for a few lads as certain starters and a few difficult decisions to be made. Up to others to stake their claim for a starting spot next year.

Did Currid show Limerick how to tackle, how to run, how to score and more importantly how to control the ball from a pass? All seemed to be well off by Limerick yesterday?

This team has achieved more than any other group of players that have ever played for Limerick. Yesterday's defeat in no way diminishes their achievements.

13 of the starters and 6 of the subs yesterday have been involved during the entire period of success. Maintaining that level of form year after year is very difficult. Yesterday was the first time that there was a massive underperformance in a knockout match.

One of the key elements of this team over the years has been the strength of the half back line. The absence of a peak form Hannon is critical in this regard. Hayes is a very different type of player at centre back. When combined with Byrnes lack of form it has been a huge issue.

O Donoghue played like a ghost yesterday. No coincidence that Dublin seemed to have so much space and time to get shots off. English was our best player overall, but his tackling is a significant weakness. Several occassions where Dublin were able to run through him.

Lynch has been excellent all year and battled to the end. Hegarty kept us in it at times but also had a few hit and hope shots. O Connor had a very good game inside.

Morrissey looked knackered and was labouring throughout. O Neill was involved a lot when he came on but made some big errors also.

The sending off weakened Limerick. Having a extra man in the full back line meant that puckouts were going short. Instead of Quaid delivering quality ball into the forwards, Finn and Morrissey were delivering poorer ball. We'd have been better off using the extra man further up the field. E.g. Bring on Casey as an extra attacking option.

It was the display of a tired team. The energy just wasn't there on the day. I wouldn't be overly critical, they owe us nothing.

Is it possible we also need fresh ideas in terms of coaching?

They let us down yesterday. The red card made us lose our shape and we didn't know where to put the extra man.

I was full sure they would solve that at half time but we came out just as clueless.

if a limerick player was sent off we would have circled the wagons and won and upped it. I literally saw the team turn off like a switch with the red. Like job done.

Kiely will never admit it publicly but i say the message was go up there get the win without killing ourselves and be ready for the mother of physical battles against kk.

Also the decision to accept to play at cp was ill advised. Football fans streamed in a ht and the hill was nearly full drowning out what little support limerick had. They got them over the line.

Crowd had nothing to do with it!

Limerick have been average all season bar a smashing revenge missionn against cork the results realy paint a picture!

We have been waiting and waiting and waiting but there was no performance left in them this season!

I feel we should have named an unchanged side to face clare after the cork game and kept momentum going !

Of course hindsight is 50 50 i have no answer to how we turn things around and do wonder will Kiely and Kinnerk stick around!

  • Registered Users, Registered Users 2 Posts: 156 ✭✭biglad40isback

they have a year left and Kiely is on sabbatical from career so why not stick around. The players will stick around too as kiely will be there

performance wise championship wasnt as bad as u think. It was a good performance b tipp in thurles who are now in ai semi. Waterford got the job done. Cork smashed as u said. Munster final could have gone either way and it wasnt a bad performance. Yesterday was a no show and completely unacceptable

I never said cork smashed us i said we had a smashing revenge mission against them in the round robin and after that we fell flat!

Honestly just look at the results thats what counts the result for a team like Limerick!

All thats wrong is the hunger is gone ,I said it about Declan Hannon's in the penalty shootout .The team is no longer willing to go the extra mile to get over the line and with all is said only for Gillanes goal shot miracellously saved ,the team would still probably have made the final and if Cork was there probably have avenged the munster final defeat!!!

  • Registered Users, Registered Users 2 Posts: 156 ✭✭biglad40isback

i mean we smashed cork. Do you mean results in the league cause one year we won an ai and all we did in league was get red cards taken guys heads off and won one game. We topped the munster round robin table this year for first year ever.

tired. Leggy. On the wane. Flat i accept but still should have enough to put away a 14 man dublin team. That what hurts the most.

  • Registered Users, Registered Users 2 Posts: 30,353 ✭✭✭✭breezy1985

The Munster final was an average at best performance. Like a lesser version of the Dublin game we were dropping ball and missing shots we never did before.

The group stage was as good as any we ever had though.

  • Registered Users, Registered Users 2 Posts: 30,353 ✭✭✭✭breezy1985

Sure we were a football county first.

Limerick brought high intensity in that game as did Cork, The shooting left alot to be desired on both sides and it could of gone either way. Ye didn't show up for Dublin as ye looked at it like a nothing game and a foregone conclusion with the semi v kk taking focus and payed the price for it - I would hope we don't make the same mistake…
