SSht. I was thinking about staying up for the footballers on Sunday.

Limerick fans getting absolutely screwed over here. GAA could have found a way that the hurlers and footballers played the same day, even by moving Dublin footballers to Sunday.

Don’t think either match will bring huge Limerick crowds , might be 10k from Limerick saturday , considering there was only 2k in GG Sunday won’t be many more than that at football Sunday . I’m sure some looking for a night out could stay in Dublin Saturday night and take in both matchs

Either the Limerick or Dublin fans were gonna get screwed in that sense.

Should have just played all games separately.

Silver lining with Croke Park is that it will be an extra game at the venue before the semi, which will be useful should we beat Dublin.

If they played it in pirtlaoise or thurles like they should have no one got screwed

The train to Dublin is as easy as the train to Portlaoise, be good to get a game in Croke park before playing Kilkenny assuming we can beat Dublin , the biggest problem in the gaa world is trying to cram all these matchs into a couple of months with most people unable to afford to attend them all in such a quick timeframe

Trains booked out. Think i ll just do my drive to maynooth trick and get commuter in stops at

    Drumcondra.

    Any idea on ticket prices?

Everthing takes so much longer in Dublin though. I hate Thurles but would welcome the easier trip on short notice.

There are plenty of hurling fans in Limerick that wouldn't be interested in the football so that may have played a factor in the GAAs decision.

Same with Dublin. Anyone with a seat for the hurling is gonna spend most of the match getting up to let Dubs shuffle in and out.

Dublin fans don't have a min 4 hour round trip to contend with.

If it was in portlaoise there would be no need for a train and i cant see the comparison between a train to portlaoise where you get off 15min walk to the pitch and a train to heuston. As for cramming the matches into a couple of months ,if it was in thurles or poirtlaiose its the very same timeframe.

They normally run a midnight train to Limerick/Cork for big concerts but only running them to Galway at the minute. Pity cause they would have had one this Saturday.

Must be a lack of staff or track works or something down our way.

Should have played both games in the Gaelic Grounds. Clare, Dublin, Tipp, and Galway all played the 2023 QTR final double header there.

If you're going to drag just Limerick fans to Croke Park they surly could have made it a double header with the Limerick footballers.

Very simple solution to all this is give the provincial runners up home advantage.

The Joe McDonagh runner ul hmgot home advantage so why not Munster and Leinster.

I agree, but they won’t, due to the chance of a county like Waterford or Clare, with small stadiums, being provincial runners-up, and it'll be less income.

Surely O'Moore Park with a capacity of 22,000 would have been a fair choice. It's also pretty much bang in the middle for Limerick and Dublin.

There's no way I can justify the time and expense of going to Croke Park with the kids when there's every chance we'll be heading back there in 2 weeks.

You'd want to be out of your mind to book a hotel in Dublin these days. I got 7 nights in a hotel in Genoa + flights for less than I was quoted for a weekend in Dublin in July! I was abroad quite a bit recently and in every city I stayed in I paid less for food drink coffee etc than I'd be charged in Dublin! Anyway it's looking more and more like a Tipp v Limerick all Ireland final.

More than enough when Thurles, Limerick, and Cork have hosted double headers for the QF. Dublin fans would barely travel down for the hurling anyway. GAA will be hoping that the Dublin football fans will show up early to give a large Dublin crowd.
