We've always used ATMB (https://www.atmb.com/telepeage-tarifs/) but most people here use https://www.bipandgo.com/en/

Both free apart from the months you use them

If I add gomoworld as an eSIM on my phone can other phones tether of it?

Thats what we had to do last year, didn't take long!

  • Registered Users, Registered Users 2 Posts: 345 ✭✭Redlim

Their terms say it's supported anyway.

2.11 Tethering (Personal hotspot) is supported.

I use bip and go which gives me access to Spain, France and Portugal. I think it was €15 /€20 for the tag a few years back and there is no annual charge so long as you use it once a year in any of those countries. As another poster said it's set up so that you just go through the tolls and the money is taken from your bank through DD normally once you're home. Beauty of it is it also works in certain carparks also so no fumbling for change or stickers etc.

When I get home from work I'll have another look at it and if you're interested in it I might have a small referral code which puts €10 or €20 onto both of our accounts.

ah thanks for that. I’ve just signed up for them before I saw your post. Too late for referral. Darn it.

No worries, I think I had mine delivered fairly quickly. Grand and handy and saves the missus a lot of hassle when she's trying to communicate with those in the toll boxes😁

Im heading to France in July for 3 weeks (boat into Bilbao before crossing over into France and then a boat home from Cherbourg, might be able to make use of that referral code as I assume one of those tags will be useful for me!

I was in Cypsela last week and am in Chateau Marais now, both Sandaya. Fast check in basically meant I just went into reception on arrival and was handed my keys/wristbands/parking tag thing and didn’t need to hand over passports etc.

No worries, when I get home from work this evening I'll check through my old emails 👍

Doing the in via Bilbao and home via Cherbourg route, staying in Le Domaine de la Breche for a week and Chateau de les eaux for a week. Anybody had any experience of these campsites or surrounding areas that might have any recommendations?

They seem expensive with the data limits.

You can get 40GB of non-restricted speed for €30 on Vodafone.

pick up a SIM card there. I got an orange sim last week for 13 in a tobacco shop and topped it up for 275gb data for 25.

In relation to the Commodore lounge do you believe it is actually good value for money? Heading over myself on that route in late August and have also done that run in the past but never availed of the C Club lounge.

It's only my wife and I travelling this time so I was thinking about it, however it's an extra €100 approx per person per sailing.

I don't think I'd even spend €200 in the a la carte on board the ship in normal times so just looking for some recent feedback as there are so many different opinions and reviews on various sites.

    Thanks.

Hi ShaneC, that's a lot of data for €25. did you just put on the SIM and buy credit in the shop or do you have to register it first?

Can I ask what you think of Chateau des Marais so far? It's on the list of places we are considering for next year.

there was 20 odd gb data and minutes on it when I got the sim. Just register it online and topped up online. Need passport to register the sim for an online account but can top it up straight away after doing so. Don’t buy it in the orange phone shop the man working there told me I’d get a better deal doing the way I did think it was 50 for 200 go or something like that it was orange holiday it was called.

I have stayed in chateau de les eaux before. We got a bad old mobile in a poor location. We didn’t get on with the site but got off to a bad start. Pool was very busy. And the weather was cold during our stay. Online reviews are good though.

The sites we go for are usually small independent natural type sites. But we also love centerparcs. I’ve never stayed in any of the 5 star sites commonly mentioned here so can’t compare with those.

I thought it was good value and depend if you see the ferry as part of the holiday or something to just get over with and get to Spain. I see the Ferry as part of the holiday always one of the highlights.

If its just yourself and the missus then I would say its worth it, yeah you would might spend less maybe in the a-la-carte and the food might be better but thinking about it, we got two breakfasts, two lunches, a dinner, snacks and drinks all day, about a dozen glasses of wine (if not more for me alone😎)….but its more than that. Its a nice relaxing spot to be, when I ventured out into the rest of the ship is was busy, entertainment, kids clubs, lads having pints etc etc but the C-Club lounge was quite and relaxing. Myself and my missus just read our books, listened to some podcasts, we had our flat white coffees and chilled San Pellegrino some pastries all day long. Lunch and dinner then came and we had the wine with that (as much as you want in the 3 hour period) but we didn't do the dog on it. The day flew by.

If I was going on the Friday Ferry which leaves late at night (around 11pm I think) then you only have the full day the next day Im sure. You get in very early on the Sunday Moring, the Wednesday trip I think might be better value as you you have 1.5 days use, also I think you can have those extra few glasses of wine and not worry about getting up at 6am.

All in all if its just the two of you then get it, there were no kids in there (well there was this one couple who had a new born baby but they were grand) Finally food was nice, nothing amazing but I liked it.

6.1kWp south facing, South of Cork City

To be fair we’ve only been here for 2 days, leaving today and going to the ferry. We spent Wednesday at Chambord so we didn’t get a very comprehensive look at the place but what we’ve seen we really like. We’d consider coming back next year. Location wise, you couldn’t beat it as a base if you’re planning to explore the Loire Valley. The site itself seems very well maintained. We’re staying in a Cottage Newton and are very impressed with it. It’s very fancy altogether. Also you get an assigned parking spot quite near the mobile so that’s very handy.

The supermarket on site is basic but has the essentials and there seems to be plenty of activities to do on the site.

The only downside (and the same goes for a lot of the French sites) is the insects everywhere 🤣 for some reason the rest of my family get left alone while I get eaten alive, so if you’re coming here definitely bring insect repellant and some citronella or something.

Sitting here in eastern france about 100km from the German border in a yelloh site and by God the place is full of Germans. No surprises there but I find them so stand offish. No bonjour when u pass as i think us irish would normally do and no acknowledgement when holding a door open. The 10am rush for the sunbeds is comical , not reserving beds but getting down early to get the best spots.. weather glorious thankfully..

Has anyone been to Domaine des Ormes in Brittany before?

It’s been recommended to me by two different people recently and I’m looking to go to a campsite next year.

They both also mentioned getting the ferry to Cherbourg and then driving down to the campsite- works out cheaper than flying into Nantes airport and transferring etc.

Also the ferry looks to be a mini destination in itself for 19 hours 😆
