It’s definitely worth getting travel insurance as well as the EHIC, I wouldn’t travel without it TBH.

Regarding the EHIC, I can’t say for sure for France, but a couple of years ago we were in Spain and my husband got sick and had to go to the Urgent Care - not quite A&E but a step up from GP. Of course he hadn’t brought his EHIC with him, so I rang the EHIC office to see what to do. Turns out his card had expired the year before 🙄 When I explained the situation, they were able to sort out the renewal over the phone and then send a fax confirmation letter to say he had cover. The real challenge was finding someone with a fax machine, but luckily the rental agency we got the holiday house from was able to receive it at their office and we collected it there. Rocked up at urgent care with the fax and his passport and he got treatment and medication and didn’t have to pay a penny.

Hey all. Just in lux airport waiting to fly home. I'm just relaying how cheap and easy it was getting to the Alsace/Lorraine region from lux airport. The 4 of us got flights with 10kg carry on each and priority plus a checked bag in the hold for €520 Ryanair. Got a car thru keddy who are Europcar for 10 days ,vw passatt estate automatic for €370. €890 all in. It's a great airport to use and our yelloh site was only 2hrs20 drive.Flights in June seem to be really cheap if anyone is looking to 2026.. anyway who ever is heading to france soon have a great holiday.. bon voyage..

we are on board IF at the moment. We rocked up at 2 on the dot and straight on the ship and up to clubclass. Usually we'd be waiting around for ages.
