Best of luck to all interviewing this week!

I'm up today and to say I'm a bit nervous would be an understatement!

Congratulations to all who have placed well, but it's pretty dispiriting that so little actual recruitment has taken place. Am surprised that there is so little demand. I would have thought that retirements alone would generate more. From the 4,000 people who sat the exam, are we on track to reach 100 OOM by the end of the year?

How did it go? Did you find the questioning much different to the competency model? Any curve ball questions?

Me too I'm in a regional area top 10 and have heard nothing, I know there is 4 AP posts alone in my office that haven't been filled.

But that being said I'm not ready for AP yet and it's a reach for me so happy if nothing happens and these posts aren't filled till next comp when I have another year under the belt

Last comp ran for a very long time, went to three or maybe even four batches over 2 1/2 years or something like that? A lot of vacancies were filled from it; not surprised now that there's much less demand. I know it's different everywhere, but no AP vacancies in my place now.

Disappointing that that competition ran for so long, got very very far down the OOM, but those of just outside the first cut off in this one won't get a look in…. 🤷‍♂️

    nothing from Kerry either

Based on the document that shows PAS AP assignments by location over the years, I'm not surprised there's no movement in many of the regional locations. I am shocked at how slow the Dublin panel is moving though!

Has anyone heard anything about results from interviews conducted in last couple of weeks?

  • Registered Users, Registered Users 2 Posts: 46 lorkyporky

Nope, nothing back yet. Been keeping a close eye on my inbox

  • Registered Users, Registered Users 2 Posts: 983 ✭✭✭furrybones

I believe so too. Both the CO and EO comps have been extended.

I'm pretty sure for Batch 1 it was a 3 week wait, so potentially another week.

Results for Batch 1.2 are out!

Happy to say I passed, was in no way confident. Best of luck to all others getting their results

Has anyone from batch 1 finished clearance and started yet?

I have shorter working year planned from mid October to mid November and I wonder might I be able to put off starting until I come back.

I know of two people starting first week of July from Batch 1. Clearance can take a month or so, depending on where you're going, level of checks needed. What was said to me was anything that is approved in NSSO will still be approved in the new role - but that was with regards annual leave rather than SWY.

Normally swy is cancelled on promotion. Must have completed probation before swy can be taken.

Any news on interviews for people in the OOM early 60s? I would expect those to be coming up in late June / July.

Anyone know how long security clearance takes roughly for this or similar comps ?

  • Registered Users, Registered Users 2 Posts: 194 ✭✭Austin1

That didn't happen for me. After successful interview for HEO I received assignment notice for new Dept 2 weeks into 2mth SWY leave. Explained this to new Dept and they were okay for me not only to complete my leave but also return to my old Dept for 2 weeks to tie up loose ends. Although maybe they only accommodated me because the leave had already commenced? You can always send them an email and ask.

Yeah could be worth me dropping them a mail as I've a 6 week trip to NZ booked for late October. That's why I'm wondering could I push out start date until then.

hi, I missed this panel but am hoping to apply for the next open competition. Coming from the public service so first time do CS process. I’m thinking of signing up with a consultant who specialises in helping people with the CS process. My CV is very much focused on the profession I did (quite narrow) and I think I’d benefit from help demonstrating capabilities from transferable skills. Just wondering if anyone has any experience of these services and any thoughts about how useful they are for a career switcher and total beginner at CS competitions?

There are a number of places offering this type of service but I can personally vouch for Tina Kinirons.

I was successful in an internal competition in my department for AP about 9 months ago and I'm quite sure I wouldn't have got it without her help.
