Trying to organise meet ups with friends and they sack you off with excuses one by one. Why is it such a non-starter trying to get people to socialise irl any more?

It is more than fun though, I think it is essential. Things have got much worse since covid. Some people are turning into almost hermits: work, home, work, home, supermarket (maybe, if not home delivery) work, home etc.

No socialising outside work, which can be very limited anyway based on your job and if you are full time WFH is non existent.

No exercise, gym or hobbies/pursuits that involve meeting others. It is very hard to get out of that lifestyle once you get sucked in and it can be really bad for your mental health if you are single and living like that.

I agree, I have basically worked every Saturday morning for the last year (un-voluntary), meaning if a pal wants to go for a pint on a Friday (a more common night at my age), I can't because work next morning. One guaranteed lie-in in the week, meaning I'll pay for it if I go out of a Saturday night too. I feel sorry for the wife as we basically have one night window per week to do something fun.

My TA: house seems to be inundated with those small moths that float around aimlessly, enough to always be caught in your eyeline watching TV.

Check your pasta, rice, flour, etc. That's very likely where they're coming from. The eggs are already in there when you buy them (it's the amount of insects in food considered to be within the tolerance levels), and when they hatch it's hellish trying to get rid of them.

They could also be clothes moths.

For me it's the opposite , getting diddlied with a euro for a pound

Was trying to put one in a Dunnes self service one day, baffled the little fecker kept dropping out. In a shop the next day handed yer one the pound thinking it's a euro, you've been done she says, that's a pound.

Three or four of the blighters lying around the place.

Just on coin TA's . I'm an awful hoarder of coins . Rather than having a pocket full I put them in a jar as being on the border and things not priced in round figures I always have a a mixture of £ and € .

Back in the day when I was in shopping centres I had a keyring that did both . Worth looking up one

    coin TA too.

I must have about 8 kilograms of coins in various boxes. Various currencies too. Some which are obsolete.

The TA for all my euro coins is the shop and their fûcking self service machines. Ideal for getting rid of excess coins but if you put them in efficiently they get rejected and come back out into the tray. You have to leave about 3 seconds between each coin. Shïtty design. So you throw in a tenner note for convenience but of course that’s more shrapnel back in change…💀🤪

On music festival threads all updates to the line-up, ticket prices, posters and the like should go in the OP. It is a total pain combing through a big thread trying to find the latest addition to the line-up.

If you're worried about that, whatever you do, don't look up 'frass in cereals'.

In a cab from Heuston to Connolly station at the moment to try catch a 1.10pm train and I’m getting every red light.

I'm not worried, unfortunately I'm very aware of "additional ingredients" in food and drink (e.g. there's a tolerance level for urine in soft drinks…), but at least people know where those tiny moths are coming from.

Sunday night. Nothing on the TV worth watching.

Wake me up when it's all over.

head says… “ how about a walk, nice exercise, fresh air etc… “

    body… “ but, quite tired actually & extremely comfy here… “

If you have BBC1 The Gold is on and looks interesting. 80s set crime drama, even if havent seen first season think you will pick up the story - TA not on until 9pm.

You've just to keep up Bogey, I know what you mean though, especially fairly popular festivals, an announcement comes and before you know it there's about 80 to 100 posts to go through. BTP being a good example when we thought it was over and it got saved.

When I write a fairly long post ( soccer ) and forget to actually post it.

Also I forgot to do Wordle one day so 100+ streak is gone . Another TA is with all the **** I need to do I'm more upset about Wordle than important stuff .

I really should prioritise stuff more.

If Wordle helps you keep your sanity and get through each day and whatever difficulty it brings, then it's as important as other stuff.

i used to deliberately break my streak in wordle occasionally so i didn't get caught up in the streak.

  • Registered Users, Registered Users 2 Posts: 2,835 ✭✭✭Sgt Hartman

I did thankfully with ten minutes to spare 😝

It's actually more a sign of my insanity and insomnia . If you look at my posts in the thread they're usually at 12.0? am.

If I don't do it then I forget about it .

Routine is my only hope )

A new TA . I 've been saving for a trip of a lifetime , inspired by @thomil 's artic trip but on the other side of the world . Antarctica . But there was an item on the news about the damage being done by tourist cruise ships . No doubt it will be off bounds in a few years.
