Cork are not a top team. About 13th or 14th best team in country at a reach.

Struggled to stay in Div 2 and needed help in doing so.

Hammered out gate at u20 and minor level by kerry who themselves ain't winning AIs although not far off it to be fair.

I wish you were right I really do.

But as Cork supporter it's going get worse before gets better and as hard it is to say that it's probably what's needed if we are actually take football serious again.

I work in Kerry. I go few underage games here and there. I then see difference back home in Cork.

It's worlds apart. And it's reflected in the intercounty games.

Yes I have been negative about Cork Football for while. I didn't even want comment about result on Saturday. If I'm honest I did not even watch it.

We lost second half by 14 points. I hear things like "oh if only Cork took their goal chances" "if Cork did this" "if Cork did that"

    Excuse after excuse after excuse.

Look we have only 7 All Irelands. It's pretty shabby to be fair. What else do I expect I guess. But been in 23 all ireland finals at same time.

Dublin have proven its very hard to be good at both codes.

But Cork football is at embarrassing levels now.

Joe Brolly is right. What is the point.....

He is right. In Cork they don't know how to play it and we dont have anyone good to coach our players properly.

What are your thoughts on the hurling game the weekend v Limerick?

Is it worth our while fulfilling the fixture as all the comments on social media are saying Limerick by 8+.

I think Cork will be ready for battle next day out if its good enough to beat Limerick is another thing. I think it will be tight if you ask me.

Unfortunately the task has got even tougher with the news that Gavin Friday will play a 40 min set before the final on Saturday!

Seriously though, the minor or underage games need to be brought back as curtain raisers for these games. Forget these concerts and just give young lads or ladies the experience of playing on a big stage. Surely everyone would prefer an underage lim v Cork challenge natch. Even a B panel match would be great.

I had to Google that it sounded so bizarre. I was thinking how many people even know who Friday is these days.

But it is in fact Gavin James playing and who I know even less about but I assume is a hit with the young folk.

I think a Gavin Friday / Virgin Prunes set before the game would have been mighty 😂

The Frank and Walters played before the Tipp game down the Pairc.

It was a disaster. Sound was **** and they played about two songs in front of 46 people.

I do think we will do much better than the first game. Still expect Limerick to win but will be closer than most think..Limerick by 4 or 5 I reckon

    Whoops sorry! Wrong Gavin! 😅

Corks football game against Roscommon will be on June 14th at 4.15 and will be on GAA+

It's basically knockout and Cleary is under pressure to get a win here or else we and him will be gone!

The hurlng team will be announced tonight at 10 pm.

The only one definitely out is Ger Mellerick with a broken finger. I am hoping that Dalton and Downey are able to start. They both had hamstring issues Hopefully Niall O'Leary is ok too.

I am expecting a vast improvement from the last day. Its great to be able to right a bad performance a few weeks after it and we should be raring to go on Saturay night. I think this could be a bad tempered game as Cork will be out to put things right and of course Limeick are not going to roll over!

Team announced. Healy and Cahalane come in. Rob Downey is a sub but Dalton didn't make it.

Healy, Cahalane start. Glad Downey wasn't risked.

I’d risk Downey and O Leary. Cahalane gives me proper fear!

That full back line is in for a roasting.

God no. It's not a knock out game. Correct decision to keep them on the bench.

    Im enclined to agree

I see nothing to make me think we can right the wrong of a few weeks back!! I don't see enough want!! Sport is all about hurt and hunger. I don't know why but I don't see these players hurting after the last game. They should be after letting the fans down and more importantly themselves!!

  • Registered Users, Registered Users 2 Posts: 22 jommer01

All due respect, you've seen nothing since the last day. You have no idea what frame of mind they're in. Got the job done against Waterford which is all that mattered. Things didn't fully click but they fought plenty hard enough to dig out the win.

The full back line wasn't the problem the last day - it was further out the pitch. I think we can expect a big performance from a somewhat depleted Cork team. Might be enough on the day but looking forward to finding out.

They can hurt all they like. They weren't good enough to beat Limerick last time out and they won't be good enough on Saturday either although I expect it to be a good bit closer.

  • Registered Users, Registered Users 2 Posts: 2,015 ✭✭✭Seadin

We need to be with them down the home straight to have any chance really.

  • Registered Users, Registered Users 2 Posts: 4,210 ✭✭✭lukin

No offence now but I don't buy into this thing of "letting the fans down". They play for themselves, their families and their clubs, they don't owe the ordinary Cork man on the street anything. I never went to a Cork match expecting the team to win "for me". Not trying to get thick with you or anything, no offence intended, just my opinion.

  • Registered Users, Registered Users 2 Posts: 6,599 ✭✭✭munsterlegend

Players come and go but yes they represent all of what you said but also the jersey and Cork people too. The supporters will be there year after year long after players retire.

  • Registered Users, Registered Users 2 Posts: 2,015 ✭✭✭Seadin

What's the ideal scanerio for Cork tomorrow? Lots of opinions saying not for Cork to go all out that they potentially will meet Limerick down the road again . To me nothing is guaranteed. We have a small chance tomorrow of winning a Munster title. Cork should go all out and die with their boots on to win it. I personally feel if we can't beat them tomorrow we will never beat them this year then if we were to meet them again. We need to make the habit of beating Limerick not breaking it.

If I was a Cork fan and you offered me a combative 6 point loss, no further injuries or suspensions, I'd bite the hand off for it.

If they could get the injured lads back fit then over the coming month it could set them up for a really good crack at the AI.
