One of the worst in hurling but we are blessed compared to the state some of the football counties have let their grounds get to. Big mistake not to knock it with the rest of the stadium.

The majority of GAA stadiums willingly took a hit on capacity numbers and it will never go back up.

If they ever do build a new Mackey it's actually more likely to go down even more.

There were talks a number of years ago about roofing the North Stand.

The mackey needs to be knocked. It is a big stand with very tight circulation underneath.

I suppose a cost benefit analysis would not look favourable given the limited number of games.

standard of most gaa grounds are a disgrace in every county bar dublin and puc at a stretch. They are not about comfort design or facilities. They are just concrete structures to contain 43k people for two hours.

Nearly 20 years old thomond park is a completely different supporter experience. Way more professional. I would be confident in bringing any uk/usa person there. While Gaelic grounds thurles definitely not

i know rugby is professional etc etc but that doesn’t mean the grounds have to be decrepit. Tullamore built a lovely main stand from bag packing at dunnes and Tesco so surely limerick gaa could do similar main stand but bigger.

And a roof over the north. Even a white tent thing that the rds used.

Why won't JP invest in upgrades?

Upgrades don't win you championships I assume. If it cost x amount to upgrade could put that money into sponsoring the team to help them improve on the pitch rather than stadium upgrades.

County Board should think about selling Gaelic Grounds for housing potential and redeveloping similar sized stadium elsewhere but closer to town dock road has several derelict space and arthurs quay- Dunnes/UL aint exactly contributing to the city.

Love the gaelic grounds, but its now a tip.

Land gets more expensive the closer you get to the city centre. Even on the Dock Rd.

Any move would only be further from the city and any other option is just fantasy.

Tip or not it's sadly the 3rd best stadium in the GAA. So in terms of central money it is way down the investment list.

Sadly this is it. The price of even the most modest stand of the size required has gone crazy.

Good to see Thomas Walsh reffing the Munster Final

Ticket situation seems bad for the final , most clubs are 4 and 5 times oversubscribed for stand tickets for final and terrace tickets not much better , I mentioned at work I have 2 season tickets and was offered 300 for the two open stand tickets by someone fairly desperate and not short of a few Bob not that I’m parting with my tickets

When you look at the money he gave for Quaid to be sorted in New Mexico you’d wonder why they haven’t had a new stand restructure sorted already

Quad can win you games/championships, a new stand won't.
