Bit late to the party on this one but Albania has finally clicked with me. I can't stop listening to it now and I finally understand why it has been such a fan favourite from the start. I really hope it does well.

Of all the performance clips released so far the one that has disappointed me the most is The Netherlands.

My only bet was on top 5 for Finland a wee while back the rehearsal clip has me hopeful!

It's so good isn't it? Looks great in the rehearsals too.

I'm worried about The Netherlands, which has surprised me as I thought he was a safe bet. Vocals wise hopefully he was just having an off day but the staging looks so dull.

I always thought The Netherlands to be jury bait rather than televote bait, but based on the snippet I'm not sure the juries will be voting for him either. Hopefully he's much improved for the dress rehearsals/live shows.

I like Finland's song but live it isn't clicking for me at all. Wouldn't be surprised to see it miss the top ten.

It does seem like quite a long time ago now that Erika was being mentioned as a possible winner. I still think it'll do well in the televote, but juries will be cool on it. She seems to be a big fan favourite still, but fans tend to forget that they're only a small portion of total voters on the night, so that won't count for much on the night.

Yeah I think on a very good day Finland might make the Top 5 but definitely not a winner. The bubble was a bit over excited on that one!

Could Czechia be in trouble? Their rehearsal looks really underwhelming.

That clip of The Netherlands is so disappointing. I had it as a possible contender (but not now).

His vocals seemed off and the staging colour palate is so dark and doesn't suit the song.

I think Switzerland might be worth a bet as a possible jury winner.

Wouldn't be at all surprised to see Czech Republic miss the final, it's another one the fandom are trying up hype up. The dance break seems like a desperate attempt to inject life into a very dull song.

I also think Switzerland will do very well with the juries, but can't see the public getting as excited for it. It does have a brilliant slot in the running order though, so you never know.

Sf2 looks very close to call, Ireland always ends up in the tougher SF!

Austria, Israel and Finland are certs and I also can't imagine the final without Go-Jo and Miriana so Australia and Malta are going through. After that it gets tough.

I'd say Montenegro will NQ due to bland song and ridiculous outfit.

Latvia feels very avant-garde and inaccessible to the general public, even though it looks good I struggle to see who votes for it, so likely NQ.

Georgia feels lacklustre and will be overshadowed by Israel and France performing in the SF. The outfit looks unsuitable for this type of song. NQ

All the rest are in with a shout IMO.

Lithuania does have neighbour Latvia and it's diaspora in countries like Ireland and the UK to vote for it. Will that be enough?

Greece is missing key voting allies Cyprus and Albania who are in SF1. Will the song get the Greek diaspora in other countries to vote?

Armenia have a habit of sneaking through most years, is the song appealing enough this time?

Luxembourg looks very dark colour pallet for a child friendly song but seems to be performed well. Last year they had novelty factor after returning from a 30 year absence. That won't be the case this year.

Denmark gives me Brooke 2.0 vibes. I think Germany performing in the the same section of the SF could damage this in comparison. I'm not feeling positive for Sissal's chances but we'll see.

Serbia is a strange performance, has he shot himself in the foot with the bizarre dragging across the floor? For a love song where is the storyline in the performance.

Czechia looks underwhelming. Could he he be in trouble? I've seen Mustii comparisons... but I think he'll be OK.

And finally Ireland, the camera work needs dynamism and energy to make it come across well on screen. Any kinks in the choreography need to ironed out to give us a chance.

My shaky predictions for the other 5 qualifiers are: Greece, Lithuania, Czechia, Serbia and a potential battle between Ireland and Luxembourg for the remaining spot.

I think Lithuania is safe. It's the only rock song in the competition and it's a good one, and a huge contrast to the other songs in the semi. They have a lot of friends voting in this semi too so I'd be shocked if they don't qualify.

Latvia will probably make it imo, the staging is so striking and it's a nice song.

SF1 is stronger for me, but SF2 is a lot more unpredictable.

I would go the other way and say Lithuania is not safe. It's a downbeat and depressing dirge (IMO)and it doesn't help that such an inaccessible and uncommercial song is in Lithuanian. I would surprised if it qualified from any higher than 9th or 10th in this semi.

The vocals in the UK rehearsal clip are really good. I can see juries giving it some decent points...public vote less so.

I've never been a fan of Serbia's song, and I had it as a no-hoper. However, Princ did get lucky with the running order, plus there's a guaranteed 12 points from Montenegro. Anyway, here's a sneak peek at Serbia's staging. Dragging him across the stage floor is an interesting choice…

Anyone interested in trying a little prediction ?

    5 countries that won’t qualify SF1 :

    Slovenia

    Portugal

    Azerbaijan

    San Marino

    Croatia

SF2 is much tougher I think

6 countries that won’t make it:

    Montenegro

    Ireland :(

    Armenia

    Georgia

    Luxembourg

    Serbia

I’ve a pretty poor track record in fairness.

BBC going for Eurovision in a big way this year. The Semi Finals are live on BBC1. And before the Grand Final on Saturday will be Dr Who at the "Interstellar Song Contest".

BBC Radio 2 will devote their schedule on Saturday to Eurovision e.g.

Sounds of the 60s will feature every UK entry from the decade.

At 3pm there's a Countdown of the "Ultimate 21st Century Eurovision Songs"

Followed by All Request Eurovision until 8pm.

I dunno, France's rehearsal left me a little cold. I'd love for them to win, but I just don't see it.

I can see what they're going for and I'll reserve judgement until we see the whole performance, but I know what you mean.

The stage & production levels this year look amazing.

That frame around the stage is incredibly effective.

I don't know what to think about France's staging. I'm not sure if it works or not.

Eurovoix's 'The Model' is predicting a big win for Sweden on Saturday.

    https://eurovoix.com/2025/05/11/the-model-sweden-leads-with-eurovision-about-to-begin/

They're still predicting us to qualify, but reckon we'll finish last in the final. I'd take it! 👀

The model pretty much sums up my prediction. Our song is ok enough in a smaller field but it will be forgotten among 25 other songs. Very forgettable song sadly. I will probably skip Eurovision 2026 if Sweden does win. I don't think I can deal with Petra again!

Belgium 5th in betting seems mad to me awful song.

  • Registered Users, Registered Users 2 Posts: 883 ✭✭✭supereurope

Same here. I like the Swedish song, but I don't want another Swedish hosting if it's just going to be Petra Mede and Lynda Woodruff again. SVT needs fresh faces and a fresh approach.

Still a 50/50 chance of us getting through on Thursday fingers crossed 🤞

Gonna readjust my predicted qualifiers ahead of the show later tonight. Thinking San Marino and Iceland may now be out, and Norway and Slovenia are in.

So, my predicted qualifiers for now are:

    Qualifying:

    Sweden
    Ukraine
    Estonia
    Belgium
    The Netherlands
    Poland
    Albania
    Cyprus
    Norway
    Slovenia

    Non-qualifiers:

    Iceland
    San Marino

    Portugal
    Croatia
    Azerbaijan

Stuck between Iceland and Slovenia, but it looks like Slovenia have very good staging so I think they'll sneak in. I think the Norwegian song is quite poor, but it's done quite well on streaming and has grown on me slightly. San Marino has done very well on streaming too but I think it's gonna be a difficult song to stage properly. I'll probably update this list one more time after seeing all the performances tomorrow!

The thing is with Sweden and the juries is that there are so many songs that juries could rank higher than Sweden overall - France, Switzerland, Belgium, Malta, Italy, Finland, Austria- remember juries only gave ChaChaCha 150 points with less jury bait songs, how could they justify giving Sweden 200+ points this year? Also the televote results show a growing 'Swede Fatigue' across with Televoters across Europe, remember Sweden receiving only 21 points in 2018 and in 2023 Loreen did not receive a single 12 points in any country's televote despite having one of the best songs in recent years. Also a weaker Ukraine and Israel open up the televote for everyone including some ballads that will get more jury points than Sweden. It is going to be a very unpredictable night on Saturday…

Regarding Ireland's qualification chances on Thursday, it literally could go either way. While a 2nd half draw would have been better at least in the first half we are immediately preceeded and followed by slower, dark non-English songs so have a chance to stand out. Also our entry this year is essentially a Norwegian entry not just the singer but the dancers and choreographer will be from Norway. Since the 2 semi final system was introduced in 2008 Norway have only failed to qualify twice so hopefully some of that could rub off on us. Ireland would kill for a qualification record like that!

As someone who followed Sanremo this year, I loved Tutta l'Italia, was delighted when San Marino selected it and expected it would get San Marino its best-ever result. But the word coming out from rehearsals is that the staging is not good. I think staging a song when it's a DJ act is always going to tricky. The "star" is stuck at the back behind DJ decks while an unknown is out front. I don't think choosing to mask the singer is that great an idea either. Austria had a DJ act back in 2022, and that was a bit of a staging mess too, and it didn't help the singer was dreadful.

I'm growing increasingly worried about the Netherlands too. Again, word from rehearsals isn't great, and as a jury-friendly song, it was always facing a difficult task when only the public has a say tonight.
