Extensive and more expensive I would say. Given that they’re potentially bringing in an ID1 and ID2, I could see the ID2 take the €25-35k bracket and the ID3 take €35k-~€50k+ for GTI spec as it’s rumoured they’ll bring this in.

Anyone else think the low pricing of the GTX spec in Ireland only was a trial run in a small market to see how a car with that spec sells at that price? I could imagine the spec of the GTX being the new baseline spec of 2026MY ID.3s and a point of differentiation with the ID2 and ID.1.

I don’t think so as it’s a popular size / segment of car. I don’t think they’ll miss out a chance to upsell by having the base spec car be so highly equipped.

I can't see the ID3 being 325bhp as standard, will be horrible to insure for too many people. 200bhp standard is plenty.

The ID1/2 will be probably same power outputs as R5, 120/150 and maybe a GTX version with the 286bhp motor they offer in the ID4 etc.

GTX pricing still somewhat curious but your theory is as good as any offered here. Although cupra have done the same with the Born VZ pricing now. 2 good options for performance orientated buyers at a nice price now.

Thanks for the tip. I’ll try Googling that.

Software might be the issue alright as the car is only on v2.3 I think. Garage refused to update it to v3 unless I paid them €1,002 to replace a module for SOS error so I told them where to go. Very annoying now if the app is suddenly incompatible. It’s been 21 days since it last synched so doesn’t seem like it’s going to fix itself. Otherwise car is fine.

Yep, typical penny pinching from VW, disgraceful given the cost of their cars.

Yeah it's shocking considering the cost of the cars, pure penny pinching.

I've the same issue. Last synced a few months ago. The fuse trick got it back online for a few hours but it went offline again then and stayed that way. Garage had a quick look one day couldn't figure it out. Going in for service shortly and they'll have a couple of days to look properly at it then. Hopefully under warranty! The built-in sat nav also doesn't work(not that I ever use it) location shows consistently about 100km from where I actually am. Messes up the speed limits and all that.

Still love the car tho. Would fancy a nice new Gtx version when this PCP is up.

v2.3 is very old and will have lots of issues. You need to be on v3.2+. Sounds like you also have a hardware issue though since you mentioned replace the SOS module which did go on some ID's.

Did you buy the car when it was already out of warranty?

The software updates are supposed to be free but if you bought second hand from a second hand dealer (not VW) then that is a different story as they would have to pay the VW dealer to do it for them. It can only be done at the dealers.

Exactly this. If you have a 5.1 or 7.1 etc. at home and you listen to music on it you would set it to 2.1.

Music should come from in front of you. But as you say cars are different if you want the passengers in the rear to hear it.

But as the driver VW adding additional cheap speakers in the rear won't add to SQ.

A neighbour had the same issue In his ID.4 after the 3.7 update. It was the comms unit (or something like that), which needed to be replaced. It should be covered by warranty.

Yeah the software is very old alright. I actually bought the car brand new back in 2020 (1st edition) but the garage I used have been a disaster to deal with ever since then. I knew the software was due an upgrade a couple of years ago but it took such a long time for them to agree to provide a like-for-like courtesy car (as they warned me the 1st editions could take over a week to get the software upgrade). Then the SOS issue literally happened about 2 months after the warranty expired so by the time I got an agreed time to bring it in they refused to upgrade the software.

Also I only just remembered that they were meant to replace the 12V battery too but they blamed the Russia embargo for missing parts so they couldn't do that either.

Anyway, I've booked it in now for all the due recall services in a Dublin garage for next week so I'll see if they are any better.

The car is absolutely brilliant though and still a pleasure to drive, it's just so annoying that they don't make anything easy!

I can't get the range from the app anymore. Is that now behind the paywall?

In that case you should be able to get all that work done for free under warranty. It sounds like your dealer is just crap. A different dealer is what you need and if they wont do it for free I'd make your case to VW Ireland as you are entitled to get the software updated to v3 for free and the 12V battery also(which has to be done before the update).

Dont take no for an answer from the dealer…. just go to VW Ireland if you get that response. You are entitled to it.

I subscribed the other day to the free We Connect plan. I'm trying to find what that actually gets you. If you don't get the ability to see the current charge of the car, I think I'll start looking at other options when I trade it in.

The page with the product details (can't link, you need to be logged in) says below. I tried to call them but they said they're too busy and will call back

Replace rear fog light on the ID.3 (ID3). It's on the right hand side of the right hand drive car.

    1000021271.jpg 1000021270.jpg 1000021269.jpg

There is no need to remove the wheel, just remove the three lower screws holding on the lining around the wheel

Someone said that they needed a bull nose pliers to release the clips, I didn't. Pressing in one side at a time of each clip, and then, keeping a slight pull on the fog light from the outside, and each clip released easily for me.

Pushing down on the clip released the old light

The new light just clips back into place.

I got the replacement light on ebay for €45 delivered from a Lithuanian seller. I hope this helps someone else at some time.

Why would you need to replace it ? Is it a symmetry thing or it just gets smashed easily.

  • Registered Users, Registered Users 2 Posts: 1,163 ✭✭✭Comer1

Because the old one wasn't working, and it's due an NCT.

Has anyone had issues since the last software update, I did one I think Tues or Wed this week, and ever since the display is constantly shutting down and restarting as I’m driving. Very frustrating, sometimes it even disables the cruise control and the panel at steering wheel that shows the lanes etc goes bright white like it’s disabled also.

I've had issues with side/traffic alert warnings a few times since that update. I'm not sure if it's related. They were fine next time I started the car.
