I have 2 of these boxes in my house, the one in my living room connects fine to the wireless adapter so that when I enter 192.168.1.16 into a browser on my laptop it connects and loads the interface.

When I plug the exact same wireless adapter into the other one and try to connect it to its own DNS displayed in settings I just cant get it to connect, tried multiple network restarts and reboots and everything, edited the DNS to ones I know are free etc, nothing works, any suggestions as to what Im doing wrong?

Does the Wireless having a red X mean its not connected? But then WLAN connection gets a green tick? Does this mean its seeing the wifi adapter or not?

Looks like the box hasn't been assigned an ip address, check the "adapter settings" in "Network Settings"

To connect to your Wifi did you fill in the details correctly as even with a laptop you need to enter correct details or no connection will happen.

Have you got the EXACT same image on each box and can you say what it is? Also what is the name of the wi fi dongle?

How the fcuk do you press Enter on the virtual keyboard after typing out the wifi password? There is literally no option to allow you to do it! If you exit it just forgets what you typed…

  • Registered Users, Registered Users 2 Posts: 18,203 ✭✭✭✭Thargor

Im trying to fill in the details again just to make sure they're right but theres no enter button on the wifi password section so all I can do is exit!

  • Registered Users, Registered Users 2 Posts: 18,203 ✭✭✭✭Thargor

Yeah its the exact same image on both boxes, Im not arsed wrestling with this broken piece of sh1t to try and get the image name again but I know they're the same.

  • Registered Users, Registered Users 2 Posts: 18,203 ✭✭✭✭Thargor

And what do I do there? Just make up an IP address? The network connection wizard doesnt even ask for a password when you run it or say anything about setting IP addresses…

Okay forget all that, how do I go back to the start and just start setting up the wifi dongle and connecting to the house wifi again from the beginning? I know the wifi adapter works…

If your adding a new device did you follow entering the network that you are using as i get 4 or 5.

Password needs to be entered and upper / lowercase is important and press the OK button to confirm.

  • Registered Users, Registered Users 2 Posts: 5,996 ✭✭✭greasepalm

Another problem, my EPG seems to have zoomed in somehow, as in its only showing the programme thats on right now, is there a button to make it zoom out again so I can see the next couple of programmes aswell if you know what I mean?

  • Registered Users, Registered Users 2 Posts: 121 ✭✭dermo2014

If you reboot the box it goes back to the way it was setup.

I think pressing the some number buttons changes the duration of the epg shown on screen, I done it accidentally myself.

  • Registered Users, Registered Users 2 Posts: 5,996 ✭✭✭greasepalm

Not sure if i have seen that as all my epg is on that channel for 7 days

would exit have worked or using webif on laptop[

Overscan is not turned off , it should be.

During setup in openvix ( not sure what you are using but there will be a similar setting) you are usually presented with a screen with four arrows pointing to the corners. You should be able to see the tips of the arrows.

Find the overscan settings and turn it off.

Otherwise , cycle through the aspect ratio options on your TV for the one that shows the entire screen , depending on the TV this may be called a different name. For example on my LG CX is simply called 16:9 whereas on my Walker TV in the kitchen its called "Justify" .

No sorry its not an aspect ratio problem its like the EPG is only showing 30 minutes on screen, I want it to show 2 hours like it used to if you know what I mean, Ill get a pic when I get home.

When you're in the EPG, try pressing "menu", then scroll down to "Time Scale" (it should be on the second page). If it's on 60 minutes, change it to 120 minutes (I prefer 150) and press green to save. Exit back to the EPG and see if it sorts your problem.

  • Registered Users, Registered Users 2 Posts: 18,203 ✭✭✭✭Thargor

Yes! There was a time scale option in that menu that let me set it to 120 min instead of 30, thanks a million Charles.

Thinking about this does your epg download 7 day to hdd or ssd and not INTERNAL FLASH

  • Registered Users, Registered Users 2 Posts: 18,203 ✭✭✭✭Thargor

Yeah I fixed that on both of them after reading it here ages ago thanks.

Was going to buy a second H7S for the bedroom but I'm looking at the H17.

It's coming in a fair bit cheaper than the H7S yet the specs seem similar apart from the 2nd Sat connection.

    Anyone got one?

Only €128 from AliExpress and around the same from Amazon fr.

Who supports an image from box and is it a clone image that is needed.

World of Satellite Digital Receiver section will give you an idea of what is out there.

With the demise of the H7s it seems there are not many 2xlegacy sat feeds and 1x terrestrial boxes out there.

They are talking orders for VU+ boxes that come back into stock in july with 2 X FBC and 1 X DBT but these are premium boxes and at least double the cost of a H&S

Gigablue and Octagon are other options.

    https://www.world-of-satellite.co.uk/satellite-and-terrestrial/digital-receivers

I typically have a look here , and then search either amazon.ie or amazon.de for the relevant box.

If you are prepared to put up with just 1xDVBS2X tuner and 1 x DVBT then the octagon s8008 supreme is good.

World of Satellite is also a good place to check for downloadable images for each box.

I find openvix , with its full manual , the best E2 variant.

New box Abcom i notice , pity no triple tuner boxes.

Seen some boxes on Amazon sites but do wonder if their guts differ and OpenVix cannot be used.
