Thought we had gone off the boil the last few matches. Just what we needed!

Was thinking that there was a little too much optimism around Meath football after the Westmeath game. Normal service resumes by the looks of it.

U20s pretty much had the game won after 15 minutes last night but it wasn't as impressive as last week. But it means we're guaranteed to top the group so can perhaps play a slightly weakened team against Offaly next week. Group winner, for some reason, only goes into the quarter final along with the runners up so we will likely be against either Wexford or Laois. The other group winners (Louth and, almost certainly, Kildare) go straight into the semi finals.

Kildare look to be the favourites so far having scored 65 points in their two games so far. Though they need a result against Wexford in their last game to guarantee top spot in their group.

what are the meath supporters views on robbie brennan , he lost a few good coaches afew weeks ago and in fairness has been out spoken against the new rules , which in my opinion will seriously benefit this meath team especially eoghan frayne going forward

2019 was the last time we won more than one game in the league so he's already improved on recent years. The conclusion of the league was definitely a disappointment but Meath were favourites to go down in January so every Meath fan would have taken third place prior to the start of the league.

The loss of the two coaches is disappointing but, from the outside at least, there doesn't seem to be any revolt from the players so it remains to be seen how it will impact us.

We've definitely improved greatly going forward but defence needs a lot of work still (particularly in putting pressure on two-point attempts). 19 points conceded against Carlow is concerning. Offaly will be a huge step up in quality and they're absolutely flying at the moment. But our injury situation is getting critical now with another two from yesterday. I'd personally think that it's 50/50 on Sunday despite the fact that we're favourites going into it.

yea would love to know the ins and outs of the walk out from the coaches. Ive been to every game bar one in the league and they seemed to be very vocal/present and the players very receptive to them during the league so I cant understand it….. Our defence is a huge worry to be honest. Carlow actually waltzed through us at times, esp in the 2nd half and we were so far off the mark…with better opposition coming up its a huge concern. Mattie has helped steady things up front with Morris gone. But we have to get O'Neill, Jones back before the campaign is over too soon for us…

Fairly sure that's untrue about more than one win. We've won at least twice in the last two league campaigns. O Rourke won his first two league games v Cork and Clare iirc. Last year we bet Kildare and Louth in the league.

I have us 60/40 favourites going into the Offaly game.

Sorry meant to be that it was 2019 that we last won more than two in the league. Surprised with the odds for Sunday having Offaly as 7/2.

U20s made a full team of changes given that they had already guaranteed top spot and went down to a last minute goal against Offaly. Wexford coming up in the quarter final. With the full team back, we should be accounting for them which would mean a semi final against either Kildare or Louth.

Dreadful result for the hurlers at home to London. 9 years this year since that brilliant win against Antrim in the Christy Ring Cup final. Real pity that we never pushed on from that.

The GAA need to heavily invest in hurling in Meath, Wicklow and Kildare like they did in Dublin.

Speaking of Dublin it's a terrible shame we didn't get Louth in the semi instead. That would have been a really exciting future. Like every other Dublin game I'll be boycotting this one.

Will they finally lose interest and let another team win Leinster for what feels the first time in 20 years? Doubt it but who cares they'll just go back to winning it next year anyway.

Hopefully Louth win Leinster this year. Probably the only team left Dublin wouldn't care too much losing to.

We are aware that we can actually perform in the first half? Utterly dreadful first half performance but we were like a different team in the second. Think we got slightly lucky with the weather in the second half. Offaly had the breeze in the first half but the breeze picked up in the third quarter which greatly helped in closing the gap. Costello was exceptional in the second half as well as Conor Duke.

But we were again cleaned out in midfield. Any word on whether Ronan Jones would be back for the semi final? If we play the way we did in the first half, we'll be 20-25 points down at half time.

Kilcoo have appointed Former Monaghan & Clontibret player Martin Corey as manager, with former Tyrone player Joe McMahon & former Derry manager Paddy Crozier alongside him. Crozier & McMahon worked with each other at Galbally. Corey & McMahon previously trained Meath

Is this why the 2 lads left then?? better offer elsewhere……….

You'd have to think that was part of the reason at least. Kilcoo are likely throwing a heap of money at them.

Closer than anticipated for the U20s yesterday. Wasn't until the last 15 minutes that we finally got ahead and shook them off before Wexford got a second goal at the death. Home to Kildare in the semi final and you'd expect Kildare to be huge favourites for that one.

Great performance and great result in atrocious conditions in Ashbourne yesterday. We were 1-2 to no score down after 12 minutes to Kildare but ended up comfortably winning 0-19 to 1-8 with thanks to 7 two-pointers. Rian Stafford and Jamie Murphy ended up with 15 points between them. Jamie Murphy put over our last score with an excellent free off the ground and against the wind. You'd think that he'd be brought into the senior team when the U20s finish up. Again, such a pity that we're losing Armstrong. He's such a calm presence in midfield and has some engine on him.

Louth in the final next week in a repeat of last year's final, with hopefully the same result. Interestingly, at minor level for this age group in 2022, neither Meath nor Louth managed a single point in the Leinster minor group stages that year yet both are the two best sides in Leinster at U20 level again.

Dublin beat Louth 3 years ago 5-15 to 1-1

Although the Louth team last night only had 5 players that were playing 3 years ago

Looking at Kildare v Meath in minor 3 years ago, similarly, only 3 players from Tuesday's game played that day.

What are we thinking Sunday? Honestly, if it weren't for our ridiculous injury list, I'd be saying we could give them a game, but having lost so many big players, I can't see it happening. If Ronan Jones is back, then that's a massive plus. But without Harkin, Morris, Kinlough to name but a few, I'm expecting more pain. If we are as open as we were against Monaghan, Louth and Offaly in the first half, we'll be 20 points down at half time.
