Would a quote post grant €5k for 3.6kw system with diverter be about right? Obviously no battery.

Anyone have TW panels? Any issues? Is there much difference between the different solar panels. I cannot find much

Wondering what peoples thoughts are on the below options, all include the BER, prices are before the grant. I have frequent enough outages so want changeover option to use solar/battery when available and generator when not. Probably leaning more towards 2 or 3 since they are modular and thus only one manufacturer to deal with for warranty.
    1) Solis / Dyness with 20kWh batteries (€15,000)
    20 x Jinko 440W panels
    Solis 5kW hybrid inverter
    2 x Dyness Powerbox G2 10.24 kWh batteries (additional battery €2,500)
    Manual Changeover Switch
    Generator Plug
I have another Solis / Dyness quote with 4 x DL5.0c (20kWh) for €12,800 but they don't do changeover and I want the Powerbox G2 as installing outside

    2) Alpha ESS system with 20kWh batteries (€15,750)
    20 x Jinko 440W panels
Alpha ESS Smile G3 5kW inverter
    2 x 10kWh Alpha ESS batteries (additional battery €2,500)
    Manual Changeover Switch
    Generator Plug

    3) Sigenergy system with 16kWh batteries (€15,300)
    20 x Aiko 445W panels
    SigenStor 5kW hybrid inverter
    2 x 8kWh SigenStor battery (additional battery €2,450)
Automatic Gateway HomeMax (for install later once approved)
    Generator Plug

My understanding is that so long as they are Tier 1 panel manufacturers there is not much between them, just a case of checking the warranty they come with, generally 25+ years product warranty and 30+ years performance warranty. Other than that only real differences can be in the size, claimed efficiency, look and of course price. Some might be bifacial but this is generally more for ground mount systems. The main ones I've gotten quoted on are Jinko, Aiko, TW, Longi, JA and then REC and Denim which are somewhat more niche.

Fancy PMing me who your #3 is from? Was it an itemised quote?

    I don't think tw are tier 1?

  • Registered Users, Registered Users 2 Posts: 432 ✭✭antomack

Unless they lost the status they were Tier 1.

    https://www.pv-magazine.com/press-releases/tongwei-ranked-as-a-tier-1-pv-module-manufacturer/

Thanks. I searched for tw. Didn't realise they were tongwei.

It's just a double socket by the battery that can be used in the event of power failure.

Got two recent quotes. Best of them is the following:

€6500 [price before any grant applied]

    5kw Solis hybrid inverter

12 x panels 445w Hausun glass glass panels

    Extra panels 300 each

What do people think? Seems good?

  • Registered Users, Registered Users 2 Posts: 588 ✭✭✭iniall

Here's the best - in money terms at least - of three recent quotes I got. I'm in suburban Dublin. Any thoughts?

This is a 3.96 kwp system and will produce 3,649 kwh annually.

    •    9x 440w TW panels

    •    SAJ hybrid inverter

    •    5KWH battery

    •    3x optimiser

    •    Roof mounting equipment
    •    Shunt
    •    All labour works
    •    All electrical testing and commissioning
    •    Online monitoring to see each day exactly what your system is producing

    €9,500 Cost before grant

    €7,704 Final Cost.

If there's space, they'll install additional panels at €175 per panel on the day.

Got this installed last week on shallow pitch barn roof

    24 x 440W bifacial glass/glass, TW Manufacturer brand, 12 oriented E & 12 W, 10.56 kWp

  • Registered Users, Registered Users 2 Posts: 7,760 ✭✭✭deezell

€9500 seems like a ripoff to me, without the battery (€1450 SAJ B1 including cable and breaker from Solarboss, minimal labour to attach), it's €8050 for a sub 4kw non battery system. That's mad Ted.

  • Registered Users, Registered Users 2 Posts: 588 ✭✭✭iniall

Really? Shiite. And that was the cheapest of the three quotes I got.

  • Registered Users, Registered Users 2 Posts: 7,760 ✭✭✭deezell

I may be underestimating the battery cost, if an additional BMS unit and case is needed, but even so, two grand should cover a 5kwh plug and play battery. I dont see any reason why a 4kw system with only 9 panels should cost more than €5000 without battery. There had been a good bit of competition over the winter, I seen ads in Adverts.ie for deals below €5k. Solarcharge.ie were one of the advertisers who were doing a fixed price deal. http://www.adverts.ie/33796754

Probably a sellers market this minute, with summer on the way.

I presume that €5000 is after the grant is removed, so €6,800 is a good price for a 4kw system, have a quote of €7300 for a 10 panel 4.6kw, no water divider, hybrid inverter and 8 optimisers. Longi tier 1 460w panels

  • Registered Users, Registered Users 2 Posts: 2 HP22

Hi all, after talking to a few vendors, we have a quote for a 5.34kwh SolarEdge system with Trina 445w panels on our east/west orientated house. €7700 including labour.

We miss out on the grant by a few months so I’m trying to get sense if we should still proceed.

Friend just got a quote; am not as up to date as I was last year. Interested in views

    11 Panels 435 watt Jinko

    3 Optimisers

    Solis Hybrid Inverter

    BER included

Total €7,500 less grant of €1,800 which would make it €5,700

  • Registered Users, Registered Users 2 Posts: 10,066 ✭✭✭✭CoBo55

Makes the most sense to me, did you use direct labour or do it all yourself?

  • Registered Users, Registered Users 2 Posts: 979 ✭✭✭homewardbound11

Can you comment please on this quote . I’m looking for ground mount . It does seem roof mount is preferred by most suppliers .

8.9kW Solar system with 15.36kWh battery storage ( after grant  €11,999)

    This comprises of

    -) 20 by JA Solar 4.0 Pro JAM54D41-445/LB/1500V (445W

    -) 1 Hybrid inverter Solis S5-EH1P5K-L (5.5kW)

    -) 3 by 5 kw batteries Dyness DL5.0C (5.12kWh / 4.61kWh usable)

    -) Installation and ber assessment

as it’s ground mount I haven’t seen what the ground mount options but will check this out .

    Your thoughts please .

    ok guys

ive paid the deposit for solar, now they want the remainder of the cost before job is done .is this the correct procedure

    any help thx

  • Registered Users, Registered Users 2 Posts: 3,088 ✭✭✭newhouse87

I didn't even pay deposit. Never pay all up front. If any issues after few days they won't come back if all paid up.

  • Registered Users, Registered Users 2 Posts: 1,759 ✭✭✭pawrick

My installer asked for 50% up front and the remainder a couple of weeks after it was complete. I'd be wary of paying it all before the work is done and everything running correctly.

  • Registered Users, Registered Users 2 Posts: 32,203 ✭✭✭✭AndrewJRenko

What did the contract or quotation say about payment terms?

  • Registered Users, Registered Users 2 Posts: 7,760 ✭✭✭deezell

  • Registered Users, Registered Users 2 Posts: 8,012 ✭✭✭Soarer

This is what I've agreed with my installer.

    1no. 5kW SigenStor Inverter
    3no 8kWh SigenStor battery modules (24kWh total)
A few vents in the roof need to be moved as they're piped to bathrooms.
    Post Works BER.
    NC6 application.
    All the other usual gubbins.
    €16,200 post grant.
