Couple of changes for 2024.

The max grant has now been reduced by 2400 to 2100.

It it not currently clear how this will effect quotes but we'll stick with the standard for now:

Boards users have recommended a rule of thumb of €1.2k per 1kWp(kiloWatt of panels) + €1k per 2.5kWh battery, including VAT, after grant deducted. This is not a precise rule and quotes are often more, with some slightly less. However, the rule will stop you getting rolled over by one or two companies who chance their arm and quote prices several thousand over the rule of thumb with little justification.

Wondering what peoples thoughts are on the below options, all include the BER, prices are before the grant. I have frequent enough outages so want changeover option to use solar/battery when available and generator when not. Probably leaning more towards 2 or 3 since they are modular and thus only one manufacturer to deal with for warranty.

My understanding is that so long as they are Tier 1 panel manufacturers there is not much between them, just a case of checking the warranty they come with, generally 25+ years product warranty and 30+ years performance warranty. Other than that only real differences can be in the size, claimed efficiency, look and of course price. Some might be bifacial but this is generally more for ground mount systems. The main ones I've gotten quoted on are Jinko, Aiko, TW, Longi, JA and then REC and Denim which are somewhat more niche.

It's just a double socket by the battery that can be used in the event of power failure.

€9500 seems like a ripoff to me, without the battery (€1450 SAJ B1 including cable and breaker from Solarboss, minimal labour to attach), it's €8050 for a sub 4kw non battery system. That's mad Ted.

I may be underestimating the battery cost, if an additional BMS unit and case is needed, but even so, two grand should cover a 5kwh plug and play battery. I dont see any reason why a 4kw system with only 9 panels should cost more than €5000 without battery. There had been a good bit of competition over the winter, I seen ads in Adverts.ie for deals below €5k. Solarcharge.ie were one of the advertisers who were doing a fixed price deal. http://www.adverts.ie/33796754

I presume that €5000 is after the grant is removed, so €6,800 is a good price for a 4kw system, have a quote of €7300 for a 10 panel 4.6kw, no water divider, hybrid inverter and 8 optimisers. Longi tier 1 460w panels

Hi all, after talking to a few vendors, we have a quote for a 5.34kwh SolarEdge system with Trina 445w panels on our east/west orientated house. €7700 including labour.

We miss out on the grant by a few months so I’m trying to get sense if we should still proceed.

I didn't even pay deposit. Never pay all up front. If any issues after few days they won't come back if all paid up.

My installer asked for 50% up front and the remainder a couple of weeks after it was complete. I'd be wary of paying it all before the work is done and everything running correctly.

A few vents in the roof need to be moved as they're piped to bathrooms.
Post Works BER.
NC6 application.
All the other usual gubbins.
€16,200 post grant.

Another crowd wanted 8,800 for 11 panels

Was recommended not to bother with a diverter as they add costs and only have a 2 year warranty. Was told to just set a timer on the immersion for an hour during the sunniest part of the day. Makes sense.
