BYD Sealion 7

Compared to the Skoda Enyaq, Renault Scenic, Ford Capri Kia EV6 and even in some ways to its own Seal model. It's not just about the dynamics its the pricing and where it is priced at too what it competes with.

Was in a BYD dealership during the week looking at small cars for a neighbour. There was a Sealion 7 (LHD) in the showroom so had a quick look.

Impressive solid feeling car, looked so much better in real life than in pics. And interior looked and felt great.

Dare I say it but I thought it made the regular Seal look dated and bland.

Renault scenic, over 50k in top spec, 220bhp, reviews note cheap interior, poor ride around town,

Ford capri 62k in top spec , 340 bhp, cramped inside v sealion, again noted as an unegaging ride

Kia EV6 65k in top spec, 580 bhp so comparable on that front, decent room and smaller but reasonable boot, not a suv as such but similar to the sealion,

Enyaq probably the closest in terms of size and people cross shopping , 61k in top spec , only 280 bhp

So you arent convincing me here, if someone wants a good looking, fast, spacious, EV SUV the sealion is a better bet that most if not all of the above and cheaper than all of them like for like as well.

Well the cheap interior bit on the Scenic is rubbish. Nothing cheap about. It is classy and high quality. I would say the EV6 interior feels worse and yes I have been in both. Not sure about the other two think they are OK but not as nice as the Scenics.

The well established brands are on the same price level, then why should I get BYD if prices are in the same range as others and technology is also average. Only thing that I felt is superior in Sealion 7 is the interior quality.

The tech is average? Explain

BYD are putting a serious amount of kit as standard. There no real options to add as it's all included.

If I price up any of the established brands I need to add all the packs which adds $$$ way above the BYDs and there still things missing.

That's without even mentioning the powertrain differences.

Don't get me wrong, the quality is excellent, as highlighted earlier. But I am considering new model Y vs Sealion 7. The AWD Model Y will be cheaper than excellence sealion 7.

Plus there is no doubt in terms of reliability for Tesla and also no annual service needed. The BYD dealer told me service will be in the range €300 annually.

Sir, please don't make false assumptions.

The requirement for servicing will be the same for both they have the same consumables despite what either manufacturer tells you. It's 55k for the awd model y I doubt there will be much in it price wise and the sealion will include a set of tyres under the maintenance plan I'd guess which is a grands worth at least.

Pick whichever one floats your boat but like for like it shouldn't be a cost decision.

I think TMY LR has 78.4kWh and Sealion 7 has 82.5kWh, but because they are adding one with slightly larger battery they would be again be compared to TMY RWD on cheapest model.
