What you're referencing is Android Automotive, as the base infotainment system as in the Polestar and Renault cars. Android Auto is running a version of your phone's interface and doesnt have access to the battery percentage information. Google touted a new EV routing / charge stop planning features last year for Maps but it still hasnt rolled out.

wireless Apple CarPlay in VW’s is the only way to go - it doesn’t matter how good the underlying VW ICE is, you only see it if you need to change the AC.

I'd love to buy a ID3 gtxp some day. The only thing I dislike about VW at the moment is the poor warranty terms compared to BYD, Kia, Hyundai or Toyota. I'm sure I'll be able to ignore that when the time comes.

  • Registered Users, Registered Users 2 Posts: 4,236 ✭✭✭sk8board

well it’s really just comparing good and great.

You don’t have to go too far back to find most warranties being limited to 2 years. Warranties cost manufacturers dearly, and any changes to them tend to be to drive sales, and it usually works.

I’m sure there are some 6 year old Hyundais that need warranty work and within the 7 year warranty

We're off the ground… GTX Performance Plus delivered! 🍾

    Img1.jpeg Img2.jpg Img3.jpg

All good so far. I really like the color, it not your typical bright red, it seems to give off different shades depending on the angle.

Interior is a massive improvement to my 2020 ID.3. Not much hard plastic, seats are very good.

Need some more back road driving to get a better feel for the drive and suspension etc.

Nice, mine should look like that too. Is it the same red as the previous ID3s?

Very jealous of these excellently priced GTXs. I got ripped on a 231 ID3, paid about 48k for it. Can only imagine what they'll offer for it next year

Should be. Colour name is the same (King's Red). I'm trading in my current king's red ID.3 for a new king's red GTX (which I'm not getting for another couple of weeks), so I'll let you know.

  • Registered Users, Registered Users 2 Posts: 458 ✭✭Tech_Head

Nice one. I spotted that they are all Kings Red but there’s one near me that seems like a darker shade than the GTX one but May it is just how the light hits it like @KCross said

It's a bitter taste. I am absolutely being hammered on the tesla I bought in 22. It's a similar thing with a lot of cars from various brands with the price drops. Not even going to calculate the massive loss as I don't see it helping me much.

Great to see these GTX start to get delivered.

The sales volumes on the GTX will be very interesting as people like us roll out of 0% pcp’s on a golf, troc etc etc. the range and price of the base GTX isn’t far off at all - but you get gti acceleration.

This Is the real benefit of a PCP,give it back at the end of term and reap the reward of the overinflated gmfv.

Turn around and buy the same car or possibly better spec 2nd hand for less than your settlement value.

Now that the secondhand ev market is establishing its time to settle in there.…

Ah jaysus, don't say that. That would mean there's no equity left in the car. Surely a 3 year old ID3 with only 20k on the clock would be worth more than 20k (think that was the GFMV).

  • Registered Users, Registered Users 2 Posts: 1,069 ✭✭✭Mr Q

Unlikely to be worth more than 20k. A new 59kWh version starts from 37k, the smaller battery one is only 33k.

  • Registered Users, Registered Users 2 Posts: 7,345 ✭✭✭KCross

I traded my 202 ID.3 1st (base trim with 100k km's done) in against a new one. I got €16k for it and they are retailing it at €20k! I dont think they'll get close to that.

But it gives you a yardstick to work from, or at least one data point anyway.

    Was that this year?

    This week!

So the car was 4.5 years or so old?

Yes, but to be fair I did the deal last Oct.

I’m just thinking - the price, range and acceleration are almost identical to a mk5 gti dsg I got back in 2006, nearly 20 years ago 😳

    I avg’ed 33mpg in the 2 years I owned it, with a 55L (12 gallon) tank - which was just under 400km range :)

You're definitely a facts and figures kind of guy to have that detail from 20 years ago! 😀

The 400km petrol range is an interesting figure… the GTX should match that. Need to get some long drives under my belt in the next few days/weeks.

  • Registered Users, Registered Users 2 Posts: 4,236 ✭✭✭sk8board

I’ve always been a ‘full to empty’ driver, with all cars, and if the petrol light on the gti came on after I joined the m50 I’d have to hypermile it home or it would say zero miles before I got to the next station 😀 So I always remember the full tank range!

Not really. PCP rates are now inclusive of the pretty steep depreciation that exists on any new car. At least new EV pricing is less inflated than it was 2-3 years ago. The cost to change when you need to is the critical element but new car prices have really climbed in the past 8-10 years.

Anyone ever replaced their front VW badge on an ID3? Got a hole in mine after a stone hit it while commuting to work. :(

Every GTX P car in Ireland must be going to someone on this thread! It’s the new Model 3 delivery thread from 2019!

    Enjoy the cars guys!

  • Registered Users, Registered Users 2 Posts: 913 ✭✭✭Zurbaran

I'm not sure the relevance of this even if true? Not trying to be smart. I'd guess that since it's not an online brand like tesla there would be plenty ordered in the traditional way without joining a forum.

Not that you can take a dealers word at all but when I was in one to talk about it he said they were nearly all of the id3s on order.

No doubt the bad press about earlier models will have some effect since anyone looking on YouTube will see loads of issues with software on older cars. Also the increased price in other markets is something you need to consider when looking at newer reviews. In the UK for example the pure model only works out as a couple of grand cheaper than a gtx performance here when you do the conversion. A gti clubsport is cheaper in the UK so it really isn't a great proposition

The cupra is also a fair bit cheaper across the range in the UK so it's a no brainer for them to recommend it.

he was just joking - the 2019 model 3 thread is the stuff of legend for its perception to readers that every driver in Ireland was a deposit holder, when in reality about 400 were delivered countrywide in the first 6-9 months :)

I’m still waiting for a Yaris Cross delivery thread. It outsold the best selling EV by 2x in 2023 and 2024 combined.

ie most buyers don’t really care, aren’t online, and just want ‘a car’

Meant to ask, how is the Harmon Kardon system?

  • Registered Users, Registered Users 2 Posts: 913 ✭✭✭Zurbaran

Yeah would love to know this. From what I've seen reviewers aren't making too much about it. Will be my first car with a sub so I'm looking forward to it either way.

Im a week and 1000km's in and no issues with the car in general.

Im no audiophile so take my opinion with a pinch of salt, but its decent. Certainly a big improvement on the previous ID.3, which had quite poor audio (didnt even have rear speakers!). It takes volume and base comfortably enough from wireless Apple Carplay

The electronics for it are under the boot liner and I used store a granny cable and an umbrella under there. Nothing fits in that space now.

The audio is very configurable, you can move the sound around the cabin and adjust for the number of passengers, base etc.

I've no complaints about the sound, but maybe your fussy about sound?

Anything in particular you listen to that I could give a blast and see how it behaves?

Side note… I got the short straw with this ID.3, like the last one, in that I got landed with Bridgestone tyres again. I suspect they will melt off this one at about 12k km's again, like they did the last one, and with 326hp at the rear it could be even sooner than that! They have only 6mm thread again to begin with! 🙄

If anyone is in the Cork area I'm happy to let you take a look if youre considering the GTX PP.

  • Registered Users, Registered Users 2 Posts: 6,013 ✭✭✭Buddy Bubs

Yeah completely unsuitable tyres for them, I went through 8 tyres in 40k kms on a standard cupra born, I don't hold out much hope for yours in a gtx. At least they were replaced under the service pack.

Best of luck with gtx, good to see plenty buying them at a good price for the performance and total package on offer

    looking at buying a 2020 ID.3

The seller is telling me he had an issue with a battery nodule - and he states was a common issue on the ID.3's, was replaced under warranty at a main dealer

    does this sound right?
