Yes but Dublin 11 so a trek from D16 unfortunately. Any half decent detailer could do it. There has to be a few in and around sandyford industrial estate.

Got this about the 2024 Model 3 standard range. I am already on 2025.2.6, so this email is about two months too late.

    Hi Positron,

We are writing to inform you that Tesla has issued a noncompliance recall on certain model year 2024 Model 3 vehicles, model year 2024 Model Y vehicles, 2024 Model S vehicles and 2024 Model X vehicles that may experience loss of rearview camera functionality.

Our records show that you are the owner of a vehicle affected by this action.

    Reasons for this recall
On a small percentage of affected vehicles, upon vehicle power up, a reverse current may cause a shorting failure on the car computer board, resulting in the loss of rearview camera functionality.

Loss of the rearview camera display may affect the driver’s rear visibility and increase the risk of a collision. The driver may continue to reverse the vehicle by performing a shoulder check and using their mirrors.

Tesla is not aware of any collisions or injuries relating to this condition.

    What Tesla will do
At no cost to customers, affected vehicles began receiving an over-the-air (OTA) software update that changes the vehicle power up sequence to prevent the shorting failure condition.

If a vehicle was impacted by this condition prior to installing software release 2024.44.25.3, 2024.45.25.6 or a later release, Tesla will replace the vehicle's car computer at no cost to you.

    What you should do
No further action is necessary from owners of affected vehicles that are equipped with software release 2024.44.25.3, 2024.45.25.6 or a later release if an affected vehicle has not experienced the shorting failure condition or stress that may lead to the shorting failure condition.

Tesla will notify you if your vehicle’s Car Computer needs to be replaced.

    Thank you,
    the Tesla Service Team

PS: I edited it to remove my name of course.

So Richard Symons uploaded all the info on the high mileage model 3 that he bought.

347,700 KMS and the battery is at 88.53% original capacity.

    That's very good.

He tested it using scan my Tesla and also using "Aviloo".

Both came back with the same numbers.

The car itself has held up incredibly well. Interior looks perfect and the paint is in great condition.

Its good to see the long term evidence of Tesla batteries holding up. I believe its a combination of not only the hardware, but also the software with aggressive battery management.

If batteries can reliability do 300,000km+ and retain around 85%, thats a great outcome. The question will be can the rest of the car hold up over that time without developing serious faults.

was it a LR battery or an SR+

LR I think (mentioned in the first video of the series)

My worry about the battery would be around failure rather than degradation though

  • Registered Users, Registered Users 2 Posts: 4,536 ✭✭✭wassie

Only need to worry after the expiration of the 8 year warranty.

Honestly, if you're genuinely worried about battery failure, don't bother with an EV. Stick to ICE where engines never fail.

    I'm fine with EV's , in warranty :)

Id say the same with most of the new highly strung diesel engines out there too.

Bought a Dec 2020 AWD LR bout 6 weeks ago with almost 180,000km.

    I estimate battery is at 90,7% soh (9,3% degradation). Based on 400km projected range with 163,3wh/km consumption on the last 300km. 16,33kwh/km*4 (400km) = 65,32/72kwh usable battery = 90.7

Probably not as a reliable estimation/result, but more or less in line with R Symon's results too (mine a bit worse)

    How do they feel? Normal?

I thought the days of optional indicators were for bmw only 😂

Very good quality and feel, don't notice any difference to stock stalks and blend very well with steering column material, its a no brainer for me

Nice one. If you dont have one you might want to get a phone mount to make use of the S3XY app. ESRGear do decent stuff

I installed a mag-safe mount for the phone located above the steering wheel that also had a removable bluetooth speedo from local Irish supplier Teslary.ie which is nice for a change. The bluetooth module had another OBD plug daisy-chained into the Commander - it gets very squashed down in that side compartment.

I wonder will they offer a retrofit option for the stalks or the bumper camera once the Y starts to ship?

  • Moderators, Society & Culture Moderators Posts: 40,957 Mod ✭✭✭✭Gumbo

Rumors that they will ad the stalk back to the M3 at some stage too.

  • Registered Users, Registered Users 2 Posts: 839 ✭✭✭technocrat

It doesn’t look very symmetrical with just the 1 stalk they should go the whole hog and add back the gear shifter too.

  • Moderators, Society & Culture Moderators Posts: 40,957 Mod ✭✭✭✭Gumbo

I wouldn’t be too bothered about the drive selector personally. The indicator stalk would be a gripe for me. I know you “get used to it” but still.

anyone had a chip in windscreen before? m3 here only 1 month old now. had a slight chip yesterday on m50, it sounded bad when hit but the chip is very tiny and hardly visible from far. its on the middle lower part of the screen. its not expanding or anything. would any one suggest to change the windscreen or just let it go until something major happens?

has anyone had issues with a clunk/clicking noise when the car is parked and you open the door. It’s not the door making the noise but coming from somewhere inside. The best way to describe it is like a giant stapler being used. It’s only started over the weekend but you can hear it from a few feet away.

  • Registered Users, Registered Users 2 Posts: 2,164 ✭✭✭innrain

Is not the wake up contactor noise? That pretty much all the time when the car wakes from deep sleep.

Check the 4th in the sound library

ah that is it, thanks for that. Spot the new Tesla owner 😂.
I just recently turned off the horn when locking and opening so that might have been why I never heard it.
