We badly needed that win considering we have a tough road trip to Monaghan next week. We are unlucky not to be on three wins out of three now actually.

Kerry don't look too good so far- is Jack's second term as Kerry manager going a bit flat. I think Cork have a good chance of Munster Football this year?

Team named for the Tipp game

    Untitled Image

Micheál Mullins and Robbie Cotter get their first starts. Looking forward to seeing Mullins as he was excellent for the U20s. Robbie O’Flynn and Jack O’Connor come into attack which amused me as someone said in other thread we were light in forwards. We have an abundance of forwards who are all good. Robbie was abroad and Jack was doing well with Sars club campaign. Darragh O’Sullivan, Diarmuid Healy, Jack Cahalane and Daniel Hogan should all come on at some stage for league debuts and Cahalane is new also as he switched from the footballers.

Looking forward to a good game live on RTE 2!

Just saw the footballers game v Monaghan game has been moved to Saturday in Inniskeen at 2.30 pm

How is it that the hurling team is named on Thursday and no sign of the football team.

Must be tough on the printer who does the football programme?

Jack hasn't ever done it for Cork consistently so we'll see how he gets on v Tipp. Looking forward to seeing Mullins and Cotter.

    Hurlers named Thursday for Saturday.

Footballers would be Friday for Sunday.

Footballers brought forward a day now but I reckon it might take a bit of time to check all the squad for availability due to the late change.

The Cork Camogie game v Waterford is on youtube right now. Its our first match in the league

Cork 1-02 Waterford 0-02 as I type after 12 mins. Ciara O'Sullivans goal the difference so far

Cork 2-07 Waterford 0-2 at half time.

Cork had the wind but well on top. Waterford with around 7 shots dropped short.

Kate Wall, Clodagh Finn and Ciara O'Sullivan really on top form

Waterford played better in the second half but Cork looked like they dropped a few gears to see the game out. Noticeable that Waterford dropped so many shots short throughout the game.

It finished Cork 2-10 Waterford 0-7

The expected bad beating is on the way in Monaghan. Giving up 3 first half goals is never good.

    Lost on a scoreline of 3-16 v 1-15

I thought it would be a close game. Every time I start to believe in them, they lose!

I was hopeful that we'd be competitive but that was the first real reality check of the year! I think it's Roscommon up next so hopefully we put on a better show there.

Personally myself i think if we made it as far as the last eight of the championship we'd be doing well. In terms of competing with the elite teams we're probably still a fair bit off the pace sadly.

TOM made a great dispossession there and ref gave a free in for a chop, what a joke

Good enough first half, some poor distribution in our forward line has cost us a few scores. Point down at ht

We look like we are treating this as a training game. Tipp are really going for it but fouling an awful lot.

Collins with a man covering decides to rush the shooter - he's still not a top tier IC keeper

A cork player just nonchalantly passes the ball and its intercepted and the result is a Tipp point. Thats happened numerous times. We look like we are just in a practice game for some reason.

Then the ref isnt really punishing a lot of Tipps fouls and they keep fouling consistently. Tipp were a point up and there was a blatant push for an easy free. Not given and they go down the pitch. Then the gap becomes 6 points after a goal

Tip were as good as they can be. A few players might not be seen again for Cork as they were fair poor.

  • Registered Users, Registered Users 2 Posts: 5,741 ✭✭✭The White Feather

Really annoyed with the ref. Loads of stoppages and then more in injury time. he blows it up after 3 mins? He let Tipp get away with a lot throughout the game but we can only focus on ourselves. We looked like we were just taking it easy throughout the game. No real sense of urgency.

I wouldn't be too worried though. It looked like Tipp really wanted it and we bungled about 5 or 6 good goal chances. Hayes hit the post which the commentators seemed to gloss over. There were other goal chances that were very slim and the point should have been taken but its no harm trying it in the league. The new players fared fairly well and Mullins in particular looked outstanding. This is what the league is for to bring on these new players. Healy had a good cameo too. Hopefully the big guns will be back soon as well.

The only real negative is the performance of Jack O'Connor. Everything he did, he did wrong and nothing went right for him. You would hope it was just the break after the club championship but he needs a big performance the next day. We cant afford to be hoping he comes good all the time.

to be fair liam Gordan is one of the most inconsistent referees in the country he drives everyone mad he's the very same as james owens from wexford

since the referees were told by croke park to let the game go as much as possible it has struck up a huge debate between supporters that believe if its a foul its a free, or people like me who think there are so many rules in the rule book that if a referee was to call them all the game would be like american football

i have said it before and say it again , i can totally understand cork supporters frustration after last years all ireland final , even though i am one who believes the game should be let go as much as possible but there is a lot of technical fouls that still need to be called like extra steps and jersey pulls , to be fair gordon was all over the steps tonight but let loads of jersey pulls and push's into the backs of player go

from the game itself , its the league i wouldn't worry , jack o connor and bryan hayes were quiet ,and i think it was millerick that was on mccarthy in the first half was poor , the worry tonight is if eoin downey is out for a long period come championship is there a replacement

i taught young michael mullins looked the part tonight , a bit green defending but great going forward and attacking the play

I'm not sure any place I could check this out but I wonder has many seen this scenario in Cork hurling for past decade or so,

So we be into the second half.…

We be anything between say 3-8 or 9 points down....

We have surge in second half where its all Cork….

We get level or even within couple points.…

    We never seem go ahead.…

    But momentum is with Cork.…

instead of going on to win....

    We concede soft goal....

Or opposition surge forward again to win sometimes with bit to spare....

Am I just bit crazy or has this happened so often over past 10 years or so I have lost count?

Last night felt like such similar pattern. I know last night we were missing players but these games seem all so frequent every year.
