am genuinely interested to see the upcoming ID3 sales, which will be mostly GTX you’d think. Will be good to see them on the road.

I think it’s better looking than the Born equivalent, but for all the other models, I’d prefer the Born

2 great options for people looking for a performance hatch now.

Very little between them, just styling preference really

Anyone any recommendations on replacement parking sensors? Couple gone on my wife's ID3 for a second time, out of warranty now. Think I've found some on AliExpress for around €25 and they look straightforward enough to replace, but wanted to see if anyone has bought some they can guarantee will work/be compatible before I order.

Just looking at the below configuration, it’s it correct to say the finance price (€39,025)is cheaper than the cash price (€40,420). The difference seems to be no delivery price. Is that waived if you take the finance?

    Total amount repayable is €40,927.99.

Does anyone have the 2022 ID3 spec sheet by any chance? Looking at a few and want to understand the different specs from back then. TIA

Maybe try eBay.de, can sometimes get decent prices on genuine parts. Postage shouldn’t be too much on small stuff like that. Best to search using a part no. It’s probably 5WA919275C or a variant of it.

Hi. How do the warrantys for the ID3 and Cupra Born compare? Thanks.

  • Registered Users, Registered Users 2 Posts: 5,451 ✭✭✭Buddy Bubs

3 year full warranty and 8 year/160k kms on battery for both cars

Be aware the 3rd year of the warranty has a mileage limit with both of 90K Km’s. Skoda even though it’s a sister company has a much more generous mileage limit on year 3 of 150K Km’s.

My Born is out of warranty end of sept this year but thankfully is still going strong with no faults. Has 46k kms on it now, maybe 60k by Sept maximum.

I'm going to hold on out of warranty anyway, I haven't heard any horror stories at all

Cupra have moved to 5 years warranty in the UK. It would be good if they followed that move here.

potentially looking at a 2020 ID.3, limited budget so only looking at 2020. I wonder were many sold in 2020 or was it very low with Covid etc.

do they suffer from the door locks issue like the ID.4?

Any other general thing to look out for on this 2020 car when buying used?

what would average battery degradation be? Maybe down to 90%

  • Registered Users, Registered Users 2 Posts: 29,402 ✭✭✭✭TitianGerm

There was 358 of them registered in 2020.

Different type of door handle so I'd say no.

  • Registered Users, Registered Users 2 Posts: 12,326 ✭✭✭✭KCross

    The common issues are

    • Charge port door
    • Drop links in the suspension
    • Make sure its on v3.2+ of the software
    • Some parking sensors are starting to fail but thats not a biggy to fix.

I wonder were many sold in 2020 or was it very low with Covid etc.

It only got released into the Irish market in Sep 2020 so they should all be 202 cars.

what would average battery degradation be? Maybe down to 90%

I dont think anyone can give you the average, only anecdotal values from their own. My Oct 2020 one is around 93% with ~100k km's on it

Thank you. So overall, based on above - no major showstopper issues. Your battery health seems decent enough

You’d be as well to include 2021 cars in your search. ID.3’s only became available around September 2020 after many many delays. e-Golfs were also still being sold in 2020. Only 7 2020 ID.3’s for sale on DoneDeal at the moment and none of them seem any cheaper than 2021 models.

Anybody know a rough estimate on the difference between having a heat pump and not having one? I'm nearly certainly not going to go with one as it should have enough range but if it's a huge amount and for example pays itself off within a few years it might be worth adding as an option?

My current car has one and it's the only experience I have since its my first ev, range definitely lower in winter but it's not an issue for my use.

VW heat pump generally regarded as not being worth the money - indeed, they had to partially refund some early ID4 owners in the UK as it was so shite!

Needing 2 new rear tyres for our '24 ID3. 215/55r18

    Any recommendations greatly appreciated!

Michelin Cross Climate and buy online from Tyreleader or Oponeo etc.

  • Registered Users, Registered Users 2 Posts: 888 ✭✭✭Zurbaran

If they have a bit left in them swap them with the front wheels and keep on trucking. Bit surprised you'd have to change them so quickly after only a year unless you are doing huge kms.

looks like I'll get 60,000kms out of the michelins I got with the tesla I have so I would go along with the above recommendation. Never saw that sort of longevity out of other tyres I've bought in the past. They are more expensive but seems to work out better over time.

  • Registered Users, Registered Users 2 Posts: 888 ✭✭✭Zurbaran

Was sent the price for mine today. Even though I selected the black wheels that were free on the online build there is a charge on them and it mentions the performance tyres. Was able to add the iq drive like somebody here suggested. Those are the only options as I went with the colour black and will chance my arm without the heat pump. Still don't have an estimate on when it will arrive.

  • Registered Users, Registered Users 2 Posts: 771 ✭✭✭Sam the Sham

The performance tyres are a €480 option and not bundled in with the black wheels, which are a no-cost option. In other words, you shouldn’t have to pay anything if you just want black wheels.

The performance tyres are a ripoff IMO: you’re paying €480 for the difference between the 215s and the 235s.

  • Registered Users, Registered Users 2 Posts: 888 ✭✭✭Zurbaran

Yep, but the person is doing me a favour ordering it with a discount. I'm not going to be doing any back and fourth like I would with a dealer. Never kick a gift horse as the saying goes.

I'm more worried about road noise in the cabin than the extra price. I take it I can't change to 215 when changing tyres as the wheels will be a different width?

  • Registered Users, Registered Users 2 Posts: 771 ✭✭✭Sam the Sham

    Wheels are the same width.

  • Registered Users, Registered Users 2 Posts: 888 ✭✭✭Zurbaran

If the noise in the cabin is too much I'll change them to the thinner ones when they are out. Thanks.

I saw a Born vz video that I now can't remember, but they seemed to have more fun on the 215's because they were sqeeling with more rear body movement compared to the 235's where they said it was faster and more assured. I rarely drive in a "spirited" manor these days so would have happily taken the 215's for less noise, only really use power in a straight line these days.
