Yes Gunther vs. Jey at WM will need something special, maybe ladder or 2 out of 3 falls, ironman etc., as Gunther was honest in his tear down of Jey who didn't attempt a comeback reply, roasting Gunther for lack of defences on ppvs and appearances on Raw etc, could have been a start, we have already seen Gunther beat Jey more than once

  • Registered Users, Registered Users 2 Posts: 3,419 ✭✭✭ThePott

I actually loved Jey's promo and it got me interested in Jey/Gunther for Mania. Dumb they faced each other like a week ago though. I think Gunther saying beating him adds nothing to his legacy makes me think that's the set-up for Gunther/Cena. Nothing would add to his legacy more than retiring Cena then Cena wins to get 17.

Charlotte's promo was rough as hell. She only works as a heel and seemed annoyed that the promo was bombing.

Punk/Sami was great and Kevin turning on Sami was great. They are such natural enemies that I'll never complain about them feuding again.

They're really teasing Rhea/Iyo which I'd be delighted with.

Netflix feed definitely struggled this week, have had no problems until now so not sure what happened. Thought it was just me.

Have to admit, I find myself out 'watching' more raw and smackdown now that I can just stick it on the following morning when I start work. Hitting the FF button during the entrances cuts the shows down to manageable watches.

Charlotte's promo was like the opposite of Becky's promo after she attacked Charlotte. Trying to make the crowd do the opposite of what they wanted to do.

I don't like commenting on appearances at all but what on earth has Charlotte done to herself. With all the talent that WWE have I've absolutely no idea how they saw Charlotte as the one to give this years Rumble to. She's good in the ring but has never, ever been able to cut a promo.

She went from getting emotional about her time off to calling Rhea a little girl for calling her out, make it make sense.

I dunno, I wanna see this version of Gunther that will absolutely ruin Uso for making him his WM opponent.

The threat that Gunther hasn't even been trying yet several lengthy runs into his WWE career is kewl.

Had the exact same thought, wonder if this will have the same effect with WWE having to go with how the crowd reacts and have to make Charlotte heel.

Charlotte absolutely does not need it. I like her as a performer more than most but she is vastly overpushed, Saw a shocking fact on Reddit during the Rumble. There's been 8 Women's rumbles, with the winner challenging at Mania, Charlotte has missed two of the Manias since the Rumble started (injured last year, COVID a previous year, one of the few years she wouldn't have challenged or challenge a Rumble winner).

Of those 6 Manias since the Rumble began, every single Rumble winner has challenged Charlotte, the champion at Mania or she has won the Rumble.

2018 - Asuka won challenged Charlotte. 2019 - Becky won challenged Charlotte and Ronda. 2020 - She won the Rumble.

2022 - Ronda wins the Rumble and challenges Charlotte. 2023 - Rhea Ripley wins and challenges Charlotte.

    2025 - Wins the Rumble

    It's ridiculous.

Worst part is her winning vs Asuka and Ronda for no reason really. Still annoyed about it being Charlotte breaking Asukas streak tbh she didn't need it one bit.

The Ronda/Charlotte feud too when Becky was right there staring them in the face on the other brand and a much more natural foil for Rondas return. Totally killed any momentum Ronda gained through the feud and then actually losing the match at Mania too.

Watch her do the same to Tiffany now too

Agreed, her breaking Asuka's streak was one of the matches that has annoyed me the most off the top of my head.

Her being thrown into the Mania main event with Becky was such nonsense too. I'm worried they'll just feed Tiffany to her now too tbh.

Totally agree. Becky vs Ronda was the rightful WrestleMania main event that year. Perfect storyline. Shoehorning Charlotte into it really made no sense and totally diluted the build and the match itself.

I always felt they did that so Steph could insert herself into the story in a major way tbh, even though she had already had her moment with Ronda the year prior.

  • Registered Users, Registered Users 2 Posts: 30,004 ✭✭✭✭CastorTroy

I don't think Charlotte has ever been able to improvise. If anyone goes off script or something doesn't go to plan she's completely thrown and the most she can do is basically say "I know you are but what am I".

All 3 champs are faces so it makes sense for Charlotte to be the heel anyway.

No she has not. The example I’ve used before is TLC 2019 when it was her and Becky vs Asuka and kairi sane. Kairi gets clearly concussed during the match and both Becky and asuka notice and try and work around it. Charlotte got thick because kairi wasn’t working with her, and she got visibly annoyed.

Early in her main event run the crows starting entertaining themselves and chanted while she was cutting a promo and she was lost.

Jey has officially picked Gunther for WM, hopefully Logan Paul vs. CM Punk is not happening at WM

  • Registered Users, Registered Users 2 Posts: 30,004 ✭✭✭✭CastorTroy

So is the titanium in Logan's fist the modern day equivalent of the plate in Luger's forearm?

I don't understand why the wrestlers, for example Liv last night, get cut open then just go and hang out covered in dry blood. Fighting through being busted open might look good but not cleaning up after doesn't.

    Enjoyed this Raw.

AJ and Dom was really good. Someday Dom will be a great face I think. A Bron/AJ programme could be awesome too, this close it's harder and harder to tell what's Mania set-up what's not. If this was the Mania match I would be cool with it.

Very curious to see what they do with Penta/Pete/Ludwig going forward. Like strong matches but is this going to be just matches for the sake of it or is it building to a championship programme. 6-man for IC including Dom and AJ?

Not sure why they built up Ivy as a contender so much only for Dakota to win the contender match. At least it means Lyra is getting some stuff to do though. Iyo underwater promo was cool, wonder if this is gonna be the Mania match for Rhea too. Roxanne getting some shine in the Chamber is awesome too.

Sami/KO doing the match in Toronto was a surprise, it'll be awesome but what about Mania? Gunther/Jey stuff was good, not sure how they drag it till Mania though. Being a Finn fan is pain but there was never a chance he was winning over Seth.

Overall, good show and plenty to build on for Mania or future shows.

Isn't the Rhea match at Mania against the Chamber winner?

Who could Dom have in mind as a new JD member? Someone already on the roster or someone from NXT?

A 6 man match for IC title makes sense as would expect a ladder match. Although we're just after a ladder match at Rumble.

  • Registered Users, Registered Users 2 Posts: 3,419 ✭✭✭ThePott

Ah yeah, duh. It would be the Chamber winner I guess. Not sure how to feel about any of them going against Rhea tbh. That's a shame.

Aleister Black to bring JD back to it's spooky routes? Kicking out Finn and becoming the new leader?

I think we're getting at least one ladder match at Mania. It was tag titles last year so might be nice to do it for a singles title this year, haven't had an IC ladder match at Mania for a bit.

Honestly, of the candidates only Roxanne or possibly Alexa appeal to me. Anything else is kinda meh.

Bianca and Naomi are going to slide sideways into the Jade return storyline presumably so it won't be them (Bianca/Rhea would be a goodun mind you), we've already had Liv Rhea for months and Bayley needs some time away from the main event scene, though unless they're strapping the rocket to Roxanne this is the likely winner.

I agree with you, Iyo would have been a great Mania match for Rhea especially given their history in NXT.

As for Sami/KO I'm guessing it'll segue into Orton's return in some way to set up a Mania match.. They seem to be already setting up a program for Sami with Kross.

Was watching the "female superstars watch last year's Rumble match" video on WWE's youtube and when Jade came out Liv and Raquel started into the whole "Oh, who could it possibly have been who took her out" acting like it was obviously them. This was posted over 2 weeks ago. I still don't think it was them though.

I am hoping it is Sheamus who beats Bron for the title at WM

  • Registered Users, Registered Users 2 Posts: 90,992 ✭✭✭✭JP Liz V1

Cody (SD) world champ, segments with Rock and Rollins while Gunther (Raw) world champ faces Tozawa and runs off from his WM challenger Jey Uso who he has beaten previously 😕

  • Moderators, Social & Fun Moderators, Sports Moderators Posts: 56,132 Mod ✭✭✭✭Necro

Bit of a simplistic view there Liz no? There was a story behind Gunther going after Alpha Academy. It's weeks away from Mania. No harm Tozawa and Otis getting a rub from the champ who gets to show how dominant he is.

  • Registered Users, Registered Users 2 Posts: 40,176 ✭✭✭✭PTH2009

Another loss for Penta but he didn't get pinned

Thought Jade Cargil was going to return, suppose with the womens tag titles after changing hands it's opens the door for possibly Cargil vs Bianca (can say she orchestrated the attack or something)

  • Moderators, Social & Fun Moderators, Sports Moderators Posts: 56,132 Mod ✭✭✭✭Necro

I'd say it'll probably be at the Chamber or the Smackdown afterwards

  • Registered Users, Registered Users 2 Posts: 90,992 ✭✭✭✭JP Liz V1

I kinda feel Gunther has lost his aura, his persona etc., he was an awesome IC champ but now seems at a stalemate, stagnant if that makes sense, might be also his feuds since becoming world champ didn't help him, just my take on it, I may be wrong and Gunther vs. Jey might put on a banger main event at WM, if they do get a main event slot either night

I didn't think it showed him dominant when he ran, and yes I know he is a heel but just felt bad story telling, progression etc., again just my take on it

  • Registered Users, Registered Users 2 Posts: 30,004 ✭✭✭✭CastorTroy

He didn't just run off from Jey. It would've meant he was then in there with Jey and Otis since Otis wasn't completely out. So a tactical retreat was needed.

Bianca and Naomi seemed to be messing up a few team moments, including messed up tags. Was happy they were beat since think Racquel and Liv will be more entertaining as champions.

  • Registered Users, Registered Users 2 Posts: 3,419 ✭✭✭ThePott

That main event was class. Hope this is the opportunity for the womens tag belts to get more focus and shine. Think we're gonna get a Judgement Day split and have Finn/Dom/AJ/Bron for the IC at Mania.
