The raised edge rubber mats look great in the Jogger and should help a lot to keep the floor clean. Not sure if every trim comes with them but well worth it.

Giving a high deposit with 0% interest deal is a big mistake.

Dacia include them standard in the extreme trim

High deposit is just to make the monthly payments cheaper, pay the same in the end.

A big mistake for who? I believe they had the deposit, got a good price for their old car which they had for nearly a decade, and intend to keep the Dacia for a long time and just pay off the PCP loan.

Personally, I would never borrow to buy a car, and never have.

I agree only reason most don't pay 50% is they wouldn't have it or wouldn't want to pay that much up front.

Unfortunately people are buying cars they just can't afford, the cheap monthly payments usually found on PCP doesn't mean people can afford the car, sure, most people can't I suppose fork out 35-50+ k cash but PCP has made people want to buy more and more expensive cars just because of the low monthly payments which I believe is a big mistake on such a highly depreciating asset. But that's my opinion, I did it long enough myself and learned.

It's mad though, the good 2nd hand car for 15 K ignored for the cheap monthly payments on a new car which will end costing a hell of a lot more.

The first PCP sucks the unwary in, but after 3 years they are faced with the balloon payment, walking away with nothing, or going again but with smaller deposit so higher monthly payments.

Now he wise will go with the 0% offer, and save for the balloon payment and keep the car for a decade, or until a good offer comes along.

Of course the wise would not really go with PCP at all.

Yes and it took me too long to realise PCP is a foolish way to pay for cars. Never again, guaranteed, this one I'm in now is being bought on HP 2 years 3 months to go and it's mine and then I'll be 100% debt free.

Is it not blatantly obvious why it was a stupid mistake? They got a 0% interest loan. Its free money. They should have given the minimum deposit and invested the rest into something that makes them money such as stocks & shares, S&P500 etc ..

But that assumes he'd get a 0% loan with less down in the first place; the default listed on their website is 5.9% for PCP with 33% down. Now to invest the difference for 3 years on the stock market to then pay off the car would not be something I'd suggest for anyone (esp. with Trump in office the volatility is even higher than usual).

Big difference between 0% for 50% deposit and 5.9% for 33% down.

    0% is free money.

If I'm reading that correctly, the scenario is 0% finance for 3 years but leaving a deposit of 50% down. Pretending that 50% figure was 15k (like for the dacia), that money could have returned 50%(ish) over 3 years in S&P500. So 15k in January 2022 would be 22.5k in Feb 2025. So I don't agree the money is "free"

Investing money with stocks and shares is not risk free - share prices can go down as well as up. There is a cost to both buying and selling, and any gains are subject to CGT @ 33%. Deposit rates with banks currently is less than 1% for on demand money.

The 50% deposit has the benefit of 0% PCP and it is the 0% rate that is free money, but of course it only works if the balloon payment in 3 years can be met without problem or pain.

I personally think PCP is a racket to trap the unwary or the financially challenged who are looking to live beyond their means. It is on a par with other scams, and example of being robbed not by a gun but by a fountain pen..

Banks don't give money for free, that's delusional, The list price of the car will go up only you don't see it and assume the credit is free, why does anyone think VW or RCI bank offer 0% ? they add it on to the cost of the car.

A car is a really bad investment.

Paying that amount of cash would be better off spent on a 2nd hand car for cash and own it and suffer a lot less depreciation. Less tax to the Government !
