Was wondering as I ordered 20 bags of coal and wood off them on the 19th December. Got the wood last week . Emailed them about the coal and they said it will be here this week. Not a great experience with them so far

Just to update on the Rathwood fiasco . They sent me an email this morning saying to make sure I was at the designated address at the time of delivery as it was was en route, obviously I presumed it was coming today so had all cars cleared etc and wouldn't you know it no delivery. Taking the piss now, ordered almost a month ago

I was pricing a delivery online over the weekend. Settled on Greers for Coyles Glo Therm. Had purchased same from them before and was happy with it.

Rang yesterday morning circa 10.30 to confirm it was in stock and that there's no problem with Sth Leinster delivery. Then ordered and paid online, as that's a requirement of Greers. 350stg + 70st

Expected delivery was Friday, Tuesday at worst. Took a phone call at 8.20 this morning from the courier and pallet dropped to me and hour later.

    Seamless.

Looking at CW half tonne of country blend 215stg including deliveryto Dublin. Cosy King 200stg. Anyone know if they charge for delivery?

  • Registered Users, Registered Users 2 Posts: 555 ✭✭✭cathy427

Not bad at all. They had stopped doing the cheaper delivery charge on the half pallet. Even though not as good as at start of this winter.

To save people looking up - its €50 delivery for half pallet and €60 for full.

Their surelite is €217.50 for half ton and €50 delivery so €10.70 per 20kg bag

€450.91 for ton (more than double the half ton) plus €60 delivery = €510.91 so €10.22 per 20kg bag.

(Or 37 bags at €381.90 (€10.32 per 20kg bag ) if you are in area limited to less than 750kg per pallet)

    ......

From 3rd Feb Coal Warehouse for smokeless ovoids are

€495 a ton =€9.90 per 20kg bag (increased from €450 a ton - blaming it on increased delivery costs so they have to now pass it on)

    €400 for 37 bags = €10.81 per 20kg bag

    €275 for half ton = €11 per 20kg bag.

Old prices until 3rd Feb so order before then if using CW and will need coal in next few weeks.

They don't do delivery - you book your own delivery directly. So likely absolute minimum of €75.

Local shoutout to The Corn Store in JFK Industrial Estate, Dublin 12 (Who probably also deliver to Dublin 8 and Dublin 10 for free).

12.50 for 20kgs bags of smokeless country blend, and 45 for 10 bags of logs, hand delivered into your shed/store. Worth the extra few quid sometimes to support local and to also save your back.

They usually have prices up on their facebook.

this is really good but do any of you have direct experience of this product, not sure of content or burn times specifically, I’m using it in an Erin boiler stove so need heat.

My last tonne in late Nov cost me €550 delivered for the red eco stove from smokeless coal express and it is very good, long burning.

  • Registered Users, Registered Users 2 Posts: 11,901 ✭✭✭✭OmegaGene

ive used coal wharehouse ovoids and they are fine, not as hot as the supertherm from the co op but that’s fine for me considering the price, I’ve moved over to easy glow for the last couple of years but their delivery charges will make me look elsewhere and probably go back to coal wharehouse

Similar to OmegaGene - I reckon CW ovoids in a stove are not as hot as supertherm but once I have a strong base of butning kindling and light timber and fill up the stove properly then I get great heat and long lasting from them. O often have door to hallway open and double doors to kitchen open and sitting room (where stove is) is still hot.

But - if you have a ton of the red eco stove burnt in just 2 months and find it good maybe better off staying with what you find is good.

If its the red eco stove that's often mentioned in this thread lots of people consider it a premium product.

I got a tonne of this last year, found it excellent, couldn't get it again this year due to delivery issues so ended up going with Golden Glo Eco Stove, Red bag from smokelesscoalexpress, As good as the Supertherm was, I am finding this one even better again, burns hotter and seems to last a bit longer also, and it also doesnt seem to be damaging the bricks in my stove like other coals have.

any good half ton coal deals going?

  • Registered Users, Registered Users 2 Posts: 27 Fatty

I got a price of €470 for a Ton (50x20kg bags) of Ecoglow Coal. It's great coal i've used it before. I only want half a ton if someone wants to go splits on the ton in the Dublin area. Thats 25 x 20kg bags of Ecoglow Coal for €235. That means €9 per 20kg bag. Pm me if interested.

Fatty is that the green bags and is it suitable for open fire ? Where in Dublin are you based ?

  • Registered Users, Registered Users 2 Posts: 168 ✭✭insullation

Coal prices are dropping on global markets so maybe worth holding off for a bit if not in a rush.
