WhaWhat a let down, at Grattan Crescent instead of cycling facilities we got.....more parking. In contravention of all design guidance.

Where will the E2 handover since it's Harristown operated I'm guessing it won't be Donnybrook? Will be unusual to have an N11 bus not handing over in Donnybrook.

  • Registered Users, Registered Users 2 Posts: 1,527 ✭✭✭p_haugh

Given the terminus is now at Harristown, I'd imagine they'll just do the handover there, like they currently do for the 4 & 13.

e2 route was extended to Harristown, so presumably there.

e1 is serviced from Donnybrook, so driver change overs may be on the Stillorgan Road?

Correct on both counts. However, to accommodate the 19, the first proposed bills also had E2s handover in Parnell Square (which I suspect will remain), so you could have had an E2-only duty starting and finishing in Harristown but with a break in the city centre.

Yeah was quite disappointed to see that especially as everything up to that point looked great (though mostly likely watered down by the time we get it as we can't have nice things).

Also I noticed a distinct lack of North face puffer jackets in the video 😁

I think they'll have to look at the location of the northbound bus stop north of Santry Avenue. It might be difficult to get into lane for the right turn to Northwood. Also not the best for interchange with N6. There is also an "orphan" bus stop north of Northwood Avenue in the Bus Connects' plans for the Ballymun corridor.

Infinitely better than handing over with passengers on board. That's a practice that the NTA should've stamped out long ago.

Indo reporting delays with BC due to lack of mechanics.

    Article behind a paywall tho.

Not at all true, next phase starts tomorrow. On that note I'm about to depart on my last journey from Wadelai... Good riddance to the speedbumps 😂

Also in that article is that they're planning for the O route in the summer, with the F coming later this year (possibly.)

Basically confirms that the D-spine will be pushed back to 2026 now as well

Some photos I got of the procession for the end of the 46a. Perhaps the most famous Dublin Bus route. Sad to see it go but the E spine is going to be such a useful service. I imagine many of the busses came from the National Transport Museum in Howth.

Looking at the E1/E2 services southbound at night, I notice that they will be leaving once an hour but just 10 minutes apart. Meaning that they will probably end up travelling in convoy and effectively serve each bus stop just once every hour. What's the point of running two services if they're going to arrive at each bus stop a few minutes apart (if that) every hour?

For example, at 00:50, 1:50 etc., the E1 will depart from Northwood and ten minutes after each of those departures, the E2 will depart Harrristown. Given that traffic will be comparatively light at those hours, the E2 will probaly catch up with the E1 and the two of them will travel together across the city. Given that the two routes are the same for a long section all the way to Foxrock Church, shouldn't they have separated the departure times a bit better, to reduce the average passenger wait time along the route?

They're supposed to follow the timing points rather than the traffic flow. As a representative example, if you look at the Bustimes timetables both services are timed to pass the Spire at 00:42, 01:12, 01:42, 02:12, 02:42 etc.

If the timing is far too lax for the traffic they may just have to revisit at a later date.

A group of bus enthusiasts who owns one of the older Cityswift buses are also doing some final runs today on the routes that are going to be scrapped ahead of the E-Spine. They have a timetable here up on their instagram account.

  • Registered Users, Registered Users 2 Posts: 108 ✭✭The Mathematician

On Sunday nights/Monday mornings yes, but on weekday nights, they leave the spire at 13 and 28 minutes past the hour (unless the timetable on Bustimes is incorrect).

I thought that having evenly spaced departures was one of the most important (if not the most important) things about the spines.

According to the TFI app, the the E1 and E2 will be separated by just 15 minutes at the various stops along the route on the northside during the night service. So the timetable has a built-in 45 minute gap in the services!

The E2 departure times at night need to be 15 minutes later than currently scheduled.

We were obviously on the same bus as I spotted the RH and VT passing at the same spot, didn't catch a photo though 😅

Apologies, I didn't check any of the other days. Yes, the E2 times don't really make sense (and are a stupidly wrong foot to set out on if the timetables on Bustimes are correct). The E1 times seem to be more consistent.

As I usually complain about the NCR ( and we are down to < 50% service as of tomorrow) I'll change and say the poor drumcondra users who will be down the 11 and 13 are going to be in a jocker as well , was only reminded of it standing outside Pats the other night watching the rammed buses inbound , the 19 wont cut it I'd say as it'll fill far further out and in the other direction it'll be a poor airport service but still an airport service

This guy on Youtube has posted a preview of one of the new scrolls for the E2.

As usual there's always people making excuses for the utter incompetence of Dublin public transport.

Although expecting people to refer to something 7 years for Dublin buses seems appropriate, given how late they usually run.

The changes come into effect tomorrow. Right now local stops have a timetable for the new services which shows the start and end locations, and times. No intermediate stops, no map, no other info. It's not even clear if the times are from terminus or at the stop.

Right now I'm sitting on a 46a just waiting at a bus stop. After 15 mins waiting for a bus that's due every ten, I got on the first one that came.

4 stops down the road it stops to "get the bus back on time". It's since been overtaken by 3 other buses. It'll probably stop in Donnybrook for another 5 mins for a driver change.

At least I'm better off than the friend who spent 45 mins stuck freezing out in Loughlinstown midweek during which 6 buses should have come and several passed out of service. The "real time system" was constantly showing buses which never existed.

It's a regular occurrence which will only get worse on a route which is now losing a service.

But as always the abject failure to advertise a timetable, stick to it, and keep customers informed is everyone else's fault.

If any private business was run with same lack of competence as Dublin transport it would have been out of business decades ago.

I wonder if the VT preserved or just out of storage? The KC is and probably that is RH7 or RH125.

Meanwhile while on a 46A, I see a Twitter post from the NTA encouraging queries about the N2 in an ad for the new routes.

By the looks of it was VT48 and AX643 which are still with Dublin Bus afaik, so they were likely hired for the day

This and Wv52 just passed me in Blackrock after their 84 run!

This tree fell down near the bus stop for the 99 route in Phoenix Park. Is that pictured near the terminus?

Yeah I think they're both in service. I thought it might have been VT28.

  • Registered Users, Registered Users 2 Posts: 5,049 ✭✭✭thomasj

I saw a photo of VT48, with the sign "private hire" on it . The AX had the same.

There was a photoshoot of it along with the convoy at UCD earlier.

Is this anyway legal? Passing yourself off as a licensed service?

What if someone got on board and got injured?
