Was very bad in Sligo about an hour ago, still loud but it seems to have eased off a bit.

Ennis Road area here of Limerick city. Its breezy but nothing approaching damaging wind so far. I may be in a relatively sheltered area and also veteran of 5 hurricanes after living in Carribbeab so perhaps it's relative.... Power still on and I'm off back to sleep.…

Tree down on Killinney Road Firhouse D16. Road blocked between Scholars pub and the Old mill.

I’ve never experienced a storm like this either in strength or duration. I’m amazed like seriously amazed there has been no outages… power, internet, TV all still working… North Dublin suburb btw, nutsville. At its worst as I’m typing. Worryingly there is a metal creaking sound the last few mins, don’t know if it’s here or adjacent building, grim sounding.

Is this Galway's peak? She can't take much more!

The gusts are absolutely frightening at the minute. Feeling of impending doom with each one.

Power gone in my part of laois. Severe winds. My wife and daughter fast asleep, red still to come but I reckon it's already here. Savage stuff

Would cranes be at risk in the worst hit areas? I know they're obviously designed to withhold a lot but I'm asking the probably silly question anyway

how much worse will it get in Dublin

  • Registered Users, Registered Users 2 Posts: 406 ✭✭mcriot29

    some winds now north Dublin

I keep hearing what sounds exactly like jets overhead departing Dublin airport … but there are no jets departing Dublin airport.

Edit: I see nearly all arrivals up to 11:30 are cancelled. The only transatlantic aer Lingus flight in the air is the one from Las Vegas due at lunchtime. Normally there’d be a fleet about to arrive now

You get a lull for 5 or 10 minutes ,you think the storm is backing off then it ramps up again but worse, . Its f##kin torture. There'll be some mess and story's told tomorrow .

    south dublin here…

was hopeful that we'd peaked / plateaued… now.. feeling a little less sure…

Really starting to get wild here in Dublin West, some very strong gusts and red level is suppose to be over an hour away. Whole house rattling, roof creaking like never before. No sleep here at all.
At this rate it’s could be a million homes with out power by mid day tomorrow, over 500 registered faults already.

Is met.ie showing the hourly forecasts for ye all?!

Just wondering is it not showing for me because my internet isn't fast enough to load the full page… Was working fine earlier at any rate

Listening to the howling, rattling wind outside and musing on the fact that we're not even in the red warning for over an hour yet, and then that that'll go on for another 5 hours (!)

Power out and with phone signal getting patchy, now just to lie in bed like Phillip Larkin waiting for curtain-edges to grow light!

    🙈🙉🙊

The only silver lining is if the sky clears at all over the next few nights, be some star gazing oppotunity. No light saturaron ; )

Galway City here. Wildest storm I remember. Roof is rattling like crazy. Power gone out and I’m awake. A few minutes ago I looked out the window and someone was out on the street with a torch lol.

    Stay safe all.

I can't get my head around the severity of this.

    Unbelievable here in Westport.

I've gone downstairs to check on a couple of occasions but there's no point.
