Been a few times. I have only gone for their breakfast menu though.

Decor is a bit much but the food is nice enough.

Their kinder bueno brownies are a big reason why I can't go in there too often 😅

I went to old town taqueria on Pembroke St last night.

Tacos were tasty but bit too saucy (expensive). 7.50 for one is just crazy.

And the churros were horrible.. soggy and oily. Definitely needed to improve the batter

7.50 for one as in one portion of 3 tacos? They usually come in threes?

I haven't tried the ribs, but the French dip is savage.

All the food is top notch and very reasonable pricing.

New restaurant opening on popes quay. Used to be Khyber Grill which only lasted a few months. Think it was some kind of Sri Lanka restaurant before that. Place seems to be haunted, hopefully this one lasts a bit longer.

Fingas Afro Restaurant and Lounge. Well, I think it says Afro.

Was in Palador last night. Second time there. Both times I've been pleasantly surprised by the value to be found.

The cocktails are decent and the food is really good and the service was great.

My mam wants to go there with me. I said it looked a bit like a "date bar" LoL!

Might still go on that recommendation. I think she'd like it.

Take her on a date man! Your mum will love it 😊

Sh1t coincidence chat, I actually passed it on the bus yesterday and thought to myself I hadn't been there since it opened and should go back. This also confirms that I should.

Well, as 2 couples in their mid to late 50s, we didn't feel out of place (perhaps we should have, 😂) and the music was only a "bit" too loud 📢🙉.

Also to note is that while I liked it the last time spring/summer 2024 I thought it had improved in the meantime.

I was in Nosh this evening. The pork was gone, as they seemed to be having a busy new years eve.

I went with the gyoza starter and chicken black bean main.

I've had much better tbh, but would like to try again for something else.

I noticed the Chinese language menu on the way out. Is that what you posted @the beer revolu

I'm not exactly sure. My wife was there on Monday and they emailed that menu to her. I think it's the same menu but I'm not entirely sure.

Anyone been to ichigo ichie lately?

In Cork this weekend and grabbed a table for Saturday night. Reviews seem mixed.

I haven't been for almost a year. Soba - freshly made buckwheat noodles - in broth and tofu. They do specials which might include things like duck. I enjoyed it a lot.

I haven't been in a year either. I'm reluctant to return, to be honest.

After the disappointment of my first two visits to Ichigo after they re-opened last Jan I tried again just before Christmas and was pleasantly surprised with the improvement in the overall experience. Food has always been excellent I think but the service was a huge problem initially. This seems to have been worked on since and we (group of about 9) all really enjoyed it. The explanation of the dishes has vastly improved (they've put a translated specials menu up now instead of the original Japanese descriptions only version for all those fluent!!). I still think the room needs changing decor wise or layout or something to make it a place I'd go as a couple other than for a quick (but high quality) bite but definitely significant improvement since earlier visits. Having said that, I know others are still not fans and find the menu options limited but I don't think that's the case.

Just finished in Ichigo.. really enjoyed to be fair!

Looks extremely not appetizing. Also, hope that cost you €10 Maximum. Brown water & noodles, and brown water & tofu.

Broth, tofu and noodles is what it is. But very well done.

Between my wife and I in Ichigo Ichie, we'd:

    • Baked Oysters (Starter)
    • Steak Tartare (Starter)
    • Cod Nanban Don (Main)
    • Ebitan Soba (Main)

The two starters were specials and really really good.

I'd the Ebitan Soba which i thought was fine (didn't blow me away) but wife's main was really good!

Went to Nosh 19 again on Sunday. They now have the Chinese menu printed and bound but I'd say you still have to request it. (I suspect that some very conservative eaters would be put off by some of the things on the menu).

Mrs Beer ordered the "boiled fish and pickled cabbage)". While the description isn't exactly flowery, the dish is really, really good. There was a huge amount of bass in a really good, light, clean broth with the cabbage (delicious) tofu, back fungus and lots of dried chillies and Sechuan pepper. Pretty hot!

This dish, especially with an extra rice ordered, would easily feed two people. Easily. We took loads home.

The twin roast was also lovely - a simple affair of 2 roast meats, pak choi, rice and a great spring onion sauce. I was able to finish this.

They will pack up any leftovers. That fish dish was €23. I'm a fan😋
