Trite news headlines using the "Explainer" prefix.

I was driving into a car park with two entrance lanes. The moment I got the ticket from the machine, my car died. I put on my hazards and tried starting it a few times but no good. It's a rental so the unfamiliar model made things worse. A few cars had entered the car park at this point and obviously had the cop on to use the other lane after seeing my hazards. Then in comes in this absolute moron who sits behind me and starts honking his horn. Yeah, thanks for that buddy. Maybe the vibration from your car horn will fix whatever the problem is. Why the f*ck do you think my hazards are on!

He eventually reverses and used the other lane. My car suddenly started working again after about 10 minutes. No clue what happened or how it corrected itself.

The guy on my bus who never has a coat or jacket on, and never has a backpack or laptop bag either. He looks like he just walked out of his house to put the bin out or something and ended up on the bus. Where is he going? Where's all his stuff?? How is he never cold??? 🤔🤔🤔

Seriously you can't leave us in suspense, it's your duty to follow him 😂

You sure you didn't mean to post this in Irish Urban Myths. Had both threads open and got seriously confused as to which one I was reading.

Wake me up when it's all over.

Someone mentioned the charity adverts which make it sound like the speaker is actually there amid the mayhem.

I now see, or hear, that Donncha O'Callaghan is there too with Unicef. Either that or else they let him record the advert into his phone whilst he was in the bog.

You should have tried to turn it off and on again. :pac:

    My TAs are as follows:

    1. This thread "unbookmarked" itself, for some reason, and I was wondering how come nobody today had any annoyances today.
    2. No broadband since yesterday afternoon, estimated resolution time: today. The answer I got from the company is "Meh". I'm tethering but running out of data quickly. And why on earth should I be getting only 3g in this day and age? It's been crap since Christmas.
    3. People that belong in jail actually being appointed directors of some organisation or other where they can do actual damage.
    4. Smartwatches/fitness watches/gadgets etc. I'd be wery wary about giving away all my personal data, health information, etc to any company just to have in return some statistics regarding how the app thinks I'm doing, what my heart rate and BP are, etc and I can't believe people are falling for it.

    Grumble.

Bonus points if he's wearing shorts :)

TA that you haven't followed him home so that we can have closure on this anecdote.

my Dads younger brother is a very successful and affluent individual but unreliable & seriously flakey as fûck. Always was. Yet there has been some arrangement between them that…his grandson was coming to my folks to price and then do a job.

The flakiness obviously doesn’t fall far from the tree as ‘be there between 9 and 9.30 on Tuesday’… has become 3.00 pm on Tuesday… and the fella has not shown up, no phone calls from the lad..

With a person/business with no connections to you, you can cut them loose if you are being jacked around… now obviously my Dad knowing him will feel he has to deal with this unreliable gimp out of politeness.

Personally barring an outrageously appropriate excuse.. car crash, onset of a serious illness etc… I wouldn’t care, good luck, I got someone else ! 🕒

He's only ever on my morning bus! Well-dressed, young guy, gets off at O'Connell St.

The isolator power switch for my shower has decided to die. I’m just hoping the electrician actually turns up this evening to sort it although it’s an expense I could do without.

Okay, I have to say it. What is it with guys lately wearing really strong scents?

I had a Dunnes Delivery guy bring shopping today who was wearing a scent so strong I had to open my back door after he left to get rid of the scent.

I've had a takeaway driver and delivery drivers where I'm knocked back from the door when I open it, by the overwhelming cologne or whatever it is they're wearing. I had one delivery where I had to throw out the box in the green bin immediately as the smell was stuck to it.

A week or two ago I was in a taxi and I was nearly puking from the overwhelming smell of whatever the driver was wearing.

What is going on? Is there some trendy new Lynx or something? Because its vile.

The quality of the switches has gone massively downhill, I'm convinced they are now designed to fail within a few years. Our original switch went in with the first shower 30 years ago and lasted about 20 years without issue, since that was replaced another 4 have gone in, all failures with the switch mechanism.

This one hadn't happened me in a good while, but people who think physical proximity to something makes you an expert on it. My desk is beside the print room in work and someone actually interrupted my lunch yesterday to ask me if I knew how to fix the scanner. Why would I???

Serves me right for being a saddo and eating at my desk, I guess.

Christmas presents they got and don't like. If they bathe in them, they'll go much quicker and won't be accused of being ungrateful or hurt someone's feelings for not appreciating them. Either that, or they are twelve and think that aftershave/eau de cologne is a good replacement for a shower.

My car failed NCT yesterday due to the passenger side dipped beam being too low.

Adjusting didn't sort it so when I finished work today I went at it.

Whole bumper has to come off to get headlight out and it's looks like the motor for the self leveling light is the problem.

Hoping i can pick up a motor as the whole headlight is €900 🥵

Delivering an amazon package, happened to take a cursory glance at the item description. Twas some sort of 'adult toy'.

Must have been visibly taken aback by it because the customer knew I knew what it was when handing it to her.

    Felt like a right perv.

This is very trivial but on Americans ,calming the Caribbean the car-rib-ian

At least it didn't drop open. I can remember joking with our postman when he delivered some Amazon stuff in one of those packages designed for books. The ends fold in and they hold books perfectly but this time it had SD Cards and stuff in it and one end had dropped open. Postie asked me to check it. I said it was fine and said good job it wasn't an 'adult toy' - the reply was "sometimes you just have to keep a straight face"?

Wake me up when it's all over.

I had just fallen asleep and dreamt there was violent armed robbers outside!

Now, it's going to take ages to settle.

It’s a decade since I traveled with Eurostar. It was starting then to become so you were getting less bang for your buck using the ‘Plus’ fare, the one in between standard and premier/first class.

Now you purchase a plus ticket for about 120 euros extra per return fare you only get a slightly more comfy seat and a light meal.. the last time I got it...Lounge was included..now gone. Priority checkin & boarding..now gone

Decent 2/3 course hot meal and a couple of complementary drinks….yep, gone..Going by their own pics…replaced by a miniature salad bowl and a chocolate brownie the size of a fućkin post it note…I’ll just fly.. scum sucking bean counters pulling the fun, the experience and comfort out of traveling is my TA.

I listened to an american podcast yesterday where everyone on it kept pronouncing it margarIN and not margarEEN. Thats surely not how it's actually pronounced is it? It's tangarEEN and not tangarIN.

  • Registered Users, Registered Users 2 Posts: 17,029 ✭✭✭✭whisky_galore

Storm stupid name I'm not sure how it's pronounced.
