Svitolina came through in 3 againt Paolini. Surprised, particularly after the easy first set.

Musy be shít for the players but I'm appreciating all these late night 5 setters, means I can watch over lunch 😃

And that I think is as far as Djokovic is going to go in the AO.

    Who's he meeting next?

ETA - ah, I see it's Alcaraz..... haven't seen him playing at all yet, is he on good form? I was looking forward to catching some/ most of the game against Draper this morning!

Alcaraz next. Dunno, just have a feeling Djoko will win that one. Maybe not win the title, but I think he's getting past Alcaraz. Alcaraz has yet to beat him on hard courts, and I don't think he's gonna do it in Melbourne. Hope I'm 100% wrong though 🙂

I hope you are wrong too, but hoping for a good game from the pair of them at the very least!

Very high quality women's QF lineup, can't be too often that the quarter finalists on the women's side are all seeded. Hoping for a Sabalenka/Gauff vs Swiatek final.

I'm a bit afraid that Pavlyuchenkova will have one of her random peaks and take out Sabalenka, only to be anonymous for the rest of the year 😏

Shame I won't get to see any tennis overnight, Djoko-Alcaraz could be incredible. Could be quite a late finish too, potentially!

    Badosa knocks out Gauff.

Sabalenka having it put up to her by Pavlyuchenko - be interesting to see if she can keep up this level of hitting - by the end of the second set she looked like she'd been through a washing machine spin cycle!

An Djokovic has to go for a MTO after he gets broken. How unusual.

… and just before Alcaraz serves for the set. Tsk, tsk …

Carlos serves out the set to love. I wonder if Novak is really badly hampered, and there isn't an element of him playing possum as he so often seems to do?

Djokovic up 3-0 in the second.

Can'tsee him lasting 4 sets (at a minimum)..... but then again, it is Djokovic.....

Surely Alcaraz will find a way to run him ragged

Back on serve now. Surprising seeing Djokovic give up a lead like that.

    I hate the rolex ad

    Great hold by Alcaraz 💪

i hate all the Rolex ads.

After a struggle on serve, Carlos holds for 3-3.

3 breaks back to back in the 3rd set, neither of them want to hold their serve it seems.

    Hajde.

I made the same mistake thought when Djokovic was injured that Alcaraz would take it in 3. Lesson learned never write Djokovic off.

I just hope if Djokovic wins this he doesn't have to pull out and deny us a semi final match.

THe aussie crowds have to be the worst behaved crowds between all the grand slams. This shouting when the player is serving is terrible. No need for it. Yes cheer, shout or whatever between points but not while the players are serving or in the middle of a rally.

More than likely another miraculous win from injury, like the last hamstring "tear"……

Surprised he is letting him on to the forehand, he looks in trouble when it goes to his backhand.

  • Registered Users, Registered Users 2 Posts: 7,991 ✭✭✭Floppybits

Don't forget the miracle of the knee last year. That had to be the greatest of them all.

    Absolutely brilliant

Can't see Zverev beating him, he'll probably go 2-0 up and then completely shít the bed. Sinner - Djoko final looks fairly likely now.

    Another disappointing AO for Alcaraz.

Only hope Djokovic can get over the injury in time to play Zverev. Would hate for Zverev to get a walkover.

This Carlos lad was being touted as the next true great. Still waiting..
