Is it just me or is there no real excitement at the moment in tennis? Take today's final, it was a bit meh for me, I could take it or leave where as in the past I would have been up and ready for the final to begin. Infact the second week of a slam would be exciting all week because of the players there involved like Djokovic, Federer, Nedal, Murray, Wawrinka, Del Potro when fit and you would have great matches all week and then of course the final would turn into an epic no matter who was in it, but now that doesn't seem to be there. At moment Sinner is just like a wall with no matter how good the shot is Sinner is getting in back but there is something missing, emotion maybe, or maybe it is just taking time to get use to the change after what has been one of the greatest era's in tennis.

Feel the same, I wasn't too pushed about yesterdays match.Sinner also is as dull as dishwater which doesn't help and although he's brilliant his style of play is boring as hell , Djokovic style of play probably isn't the most exciting either but he's much more emotional personality so there is something more to latch on to and he's a divisive character so he creates a good atmosphere in his matches.

I think they need to do something to speed up the sport aswell, matches take way too long in the mens game these days , it's becoming a bit too much of a grind at times and seems to be developed in recent years into an endurance sport as much as a skill based sport. Even 3 set matches clock in at close to 3 hours these days , which is way too long in my opinion.

Maybe it's just that tennis fans have been spoiled for the last few decades when we had Bjorg/McEnroe/Connors, Becker/Edberg/ Lendl, Agassi/Sampras/Courier/Chang and the later on Rafter, then there Hewitt/Rodick/Agassi/Sampras then things really ramped up when those were coming to the end and we seen the rise of Federer/Nadal and then not long after Djokovic/Murray/Del Potro/Tsonga/Berdych, if it wasn't for the dominance of Federer and Nadal and the later Djokocvic I reckon Murray would have had more than his 3 slams and Berdych and Tsonga were also capable of winning a slam as well. But what came after those have kinda flatter to descieve with Thiem being the stand out. I know there are lots of players I have missed but we really have been spoiled and maybe we are having a little lull now and things will pick up.

As for the speed of courts, I'm not sure that is the problem, I think the problem is the balls. I watching a video were players were discussing the state of the tennis balls and the low quality of the ball.
