Big news for me, tennis fans. I was at the distributor meeting for a racquet company that I work with. They announced their first ever top 30 ranked player to use their equipment……drum roll…….Elina Svitolina!! Ex World No 3, now 27. Married to Gael Monfils. What a coup! Done in unbelievably quick time (Less than 2 weeks) and is using a racquet that we hadn't officially launched yet! Anyway, has won her first 2, is playing really well, but looks like it could be Paolini next😯

Danielle Collins behaviour after beating Destanee Aiava of Australia was bizarre, literally winding up the crowd in every way possible. The on-court interviewer sensibly cut things short. It's not as if Collins hasn't played in this sort of partisan atmosphere many times before (either for or against her), often more pronounced than today.

Does Radacanu ever stop whingeing? If its sore, give up.

Medvedev in trouble again, two sets down against Tien (world #121).

Just gone to a final set with the local time at 01.35, why do they keep doing this?

It's gone on so long, this afternoon's snooker match at the Masters has finished before it. 3-3 in the match tie-break.

Brilliant match. Tien another to watch in the future.

    Holy Moly. Tien wins 6-3, 7-6(4), 6-7(8), 1-6, 7-6(7) in 4 hours 53 minutes.

No final for Daniel this year.I thought Tien was gassed in set 4. Some resilience to get though that.

The most embarrassing interviewer I've ever seen, and I used to watch this on Eurosport…….

Looks like it will be another long night for the British No.1 Draper. He took the first set 6-4 and then lost the second 6-2 and now it is 2-1 in the third. Vukic is playing well and not going away. The crowd don't seem as rowdy as they were the other night when Draper played Kokkinakis.

Collins seems to get off on the crowd being against her.

I came in to the Draper-Vukic match at the end of the second set - it's a right ding-dong! Two big hitters going at it, I suspect it'll be whoever's nerve goes first.

And I'd say by the 4th set, no matter who wins the 3rd, the crowd will be going bananas, and it'll interesting to see how Draper handles it (I haven't seen his other match but I gather he wasn't keen on the antics - and who would be, in fairness).

Thought Draper handled the crowd well the other night against Kokkinakis, he didn't seem to complain too much and didn't seem to ruffled by some in the crowd shouting in the middle of his service action. The crowd are for Vukic but it is on the Margaret Court Arena and now the rowdy free-for-all that is the John Cain Arena.

Oh the British No1 dropped his serve there. Vukic now serves for the third set and a 2-1 lead.

Quite the little tantrum from Draper there. He'd need to get his head back in order for the next set!

Vukic getting everything back, nothing worse. Can see why Draper is losing the plot. 🤣

Pegula looks to be going out. She can't handle the power of Danilovic.

Draper hanging in there, just about.

Think Draper is on the way out. Everything is going right for Vukic, then again he is playing out of his skin.

If i had to put a tenner on this, I'd put it on Vukic right now, he seems to have all the luck and momentum at the right time

    Tight as a ......

It was hold your breath time for Draper there.

    Bloody hell, what a match!

I can finally start my day now!

  • Registered Users, Registered Users 2 Posts: 7,989 ✭✭✭Floppybits

How did Draper win that? Seemed Vukic was on top from the second set onwards. The net cord helped him there.

Not as good as yesterday's late match, but still a great scrap.

Good news is one less Aussie in the tournament. Is there only De Minaur left? Why do they have Jim Courier and Pat Mac doing the on court interviews, surely they could get an ex Aussie player to do the interviews.

    Alcaraz next for Draper!

After three tough matches that went to 5 sets....I can't see it personally....

Courier won two Australian Opens, and I guess they like his style as an interviewer and analyst. He's been working on the Australian Open for years.

Will be interesting to see if Raducanu can at least make it competitive with Swiatek. Their two matches in Stuttgart were reasonably close, but Indian Wells not so much. I'm expecting a routine win for Swiatek, but you never know.

Looking at the men's draw, I think Sinner should make the final again without too much trouble. Alcaraz, meanwhile, has to get through Draper, and then most likely Djoko and Zverev. Not easy.

It was looking competitive for the first few games but after that it was all downhill. 6-1, 6-0.
