one post saying melting fast in N Tipp and another saying now dirty slush (don’t know where)

sounds like an unexpected thaw to me, the decision to close schools in some areas might have been a bit hasty. Those who get a day off aren’t complaining though.

Rathcoole must be one of the only places in Dublin outside of the Dublin mountains where there has ben some snowfall.....and Rathcoole is a good way out

Maybe but will be a mess in the morning either way one would think. The aim should be to get everyone back for Tuesday morning with slighly later starting times if necessary.

it’s below -30 there today which is bad enough. I’d be more worried about that side. Hopefully it will warm up a bit for you.

actually not too bad after today. -30 is no fun at all. Hard to do anything in it.

Well that was a lengthy event. Has anyone the final snow depths reportes from limerick north Kerry areas?

It's been a tough 24 hours for emergency services down here.

No snow here but temps have risen to 3°C here in north Clare. Those with small fans of snow might lose their cover.

went for a spin around cork city suburbs, some places have mushy clear snow others wet roads. One common feature though was the amount of water pouring off pitches, down hills etc. if this freezes over night it will be deadly. Some amount of rain has fallen here in the last two days

Ah I grew up in a similar winter climate to that. So it's all good. But does look like it will "warm" up a bit during the week.

That, along with some other posts, should be a wake up call to some of those who thought that the ME warnings were OTT, or that we're becoming a nation of 'snowflakes' or some nonsense.

ME issue their weather warnings for a good reason, and this is what they mean by a 'multi-weather hazard event'.

Galway City here. No snow here, and in a way I’m happy.

Don’t get me wrong, I love snow. Love to watch it falling. Love seeing snow on the ground and walking in it.

However, I’m getting older, I’ve had two hip replacements and I don’t want to fall. So, for all those who got snow, enjoy it you lucky b@st@£d$.

    ha ha.

Bet all the eejits saying the warnings were not warranted are feeling very sheepish now. 😄😄😄

    Snowing heavy in lucan now

  • Registered Users, Registered Users 2 Posts: 25,184 ✭✭✭✭Kermit.de.frog

Big splodges of sleet striking windows in Santry.

  • Registered Users, Registered Users 2 Posts: 2,353 ✭✭✭red_bairn

The worst is when they are saying that the warnings aren't warranted and then you come on here seeing photos of the snow between 10-30 cm in depth.

In south tipp visiting the in laws for the weekend, I'd say it's only stopped snowing for a few hours during the day but it's been pretty much non stop all day
