Depends how low the temps get when the skies clear. The precipitation will be gone from Cork in the next few hours.

Still waiting to take off so if will be dark when we arrive. Pilot is trying to time takeoff with the opening of the Cork runway which is imminent (I hope)

Stopped in N Tipp and now its melting fast, even with my 140m or so alt. Clearly above 0°.

Hi MunsterLegend! Really? As in no rain overnight? I'll be honest, I'm hankering for a duvet day with post Christmas blues!

I think the excitement of seeing so much snow is starting to be replaced with crap we aren't going anywhere for awhile 😬

Not that hard to believe, it was forecast as rain all along.

Dublin has to be amongst the worst places in the country for snow, too far east for anything from the west or north west, too far south for a northerly and any time we get a setup like this marine layer mixing will always make it marginal at best.

The only real way for Dublin to get reliable snowfall is a direct easterly but they're rare as hens teeth and even when we do get them they're often accompanied by high pressure which supresses showers from forming

Yep can confirm that Firhouse D24 at 5pm it's still lashing rain. No snow. Given up hope. Great to see all the pictures though, keep them coming!

It has finally stopped here , Portlaoise. Live on a back road, it's extremely slippery as it is , without any frost . This was the windscreen on the car a few hours ago 😳

    @Thunder87

Dublin is statistically one of the better places for snow in the country… but we have been unlucky this time. I suspect our time will come at some point this winter…

This is my fear. If the precipitation makes it well inland via troughs you can be sure mild sectors will turn things into a wintry mix rather than showers being all of snow. If that's how it pans out then I'd rather it stay cold and dry and have an ice day. Frost persisting on trees all day make for a great photo.

Update for Kerry. When even the main route in Tralee is blocked, it's bad.

More updates on roads from Kerry County Council - to report a problem, call 066 7183588.

The council is asking to avoid driving, unless essential, in particular avoid all roads, especially those high up.

    - Caha Pass (N71)

    - Healy Pass

    - Molls Gap

    - Ballaghasheen

    - Ballaghbeama

    - Lyreacrompane

    - Quills Cross (N70)

    -Conor Pass is closed.

    - Oakpark road in Tralee is blocked and should be avoided.

    - The main hill road in Killorglin reported as near impassable.

    - Many local and secondary roads have significant amounts of snow. The council says its road crews are dealing with priority roads, with snow continuing to fall, staff won't be able to get to other routes.

    - Muckross House, Gardens & Traditional Farms is closed.

Nope it's done, front has just about passed Athlone heading southeast away from you. Snow showers during the night might be the only chance this coming week.

Looks like a heavier burst of precipitation heading towards Cork city for between 6pm and 8pm, hopefully it’s snow!

Only light dusting here south of Cork city, temp was at 0.7C but gone up to 1.2C, hopefully the heavier precipitation will bring the temperature back down again.

A yellow low temperature warning for Ireland ⚠️ has been issued from this evening till Thursday midday, I wouldn't be surprised to see an orange low temperature warning especially over snow fields-10c is possible , my attention has been moved to tomorrow night as hopefully I will get snow ❄️ in that north westerly airflow , my heart goes out to those that are currently without power because it's vital in this situation to stay warm. Hope you have gas , batteries , and candles to keep you going

Anyone know if it has been snowing at Dublin Airport or in and around it. I'm not too far from the airport in Meath and it's been snowing here for a good while now. Have an early flight tomorrow. To fecking Lapland of all places.

Looks like it’s all over for Cork City northside - was nice while it lasted. Snow turned to sleet which seems to have passed off now.
