Same nothing, very short on radio station choice in the south east.

It stayed on FM here in Cork until midnight, when it shut off during the outro of Fairytale of New York.

I'd have been very surprised had it been any other song!

NYD 1am I think. Schedule only goes up to today but that’s what it’s been for years now.

I listened to it earlier. It plays a better selection than the junk churned out daily by Radio Nova 🤦

I find Nova and RTE Gold the only official stations worth listening to in Ireland really for music.

Classic Hits 80s is only available in Dublin, Cork City, Limerick and Galway City.

Shrewd move taking over a frequency many people had presetted in their cars.

Had ChristmasFM still playing in the car via the TuneIn app this morning on the quiet drive to work this morning, I have to say the songs did not lift the spirits I thought they would! ChristmasFM has the drive home tonight to keep it's place in the car!

haven’t tuned in yet today in the app still in the pjs contemplating what to do for the day..

Think I'm done with it now for a bit. If there's any urges when working I'll stick on classical for some background music though.

Same, while I think it's nice that they don't disappear off the playlists at 12:01am on the 26th (like Today FM does), I find myself enjoying them less once we get to the 29th/30th.

So while I was sad to hear Christmas FM switch off, I think they timed it well (maybe another 24 hours would have been nice though…)

Confirmation of the live DJ close off at 1am. Lar has done the last few years now. Very enjoyable listen. Definitely tune in if you have the opportunity.

IIRC the online sign off tends to be a little more poignant than the FM one too.

Valerie Twomey is a new name to me. I looked up her biog and it seems she did one of Christmas FM's radio training courses in 2021 and has presented since then. I heard Brian Boyle start the FAKRO Christmas FM Top 40 Countdown on their last FM day (Friday 27th). Is there a link anywhere to the Top 40?

It really does! First year I tuned into it it really left me with a lump in my throat at the end.

they don’t publish the top 40 list anywhere. Which is a shame as it’d be a good read!

Yeo, a very poignant ending where Lar thanked everyone and finished up with FTONY. I only remembered at the 00.55 and turned it on just in time.

The 2025 return looking likely to be November 28th… which could possibly be the Toy Show day as well. Will also be a decorations going up day.

That is shaping up to be an amazing day in that case 😊

I've been listening to the app this afternoon. I have to say, it's been a playlist of belters so far, no songs I dislike at all.
