She is quite happy to arrest people putting memes on facebook but not willing to arrest a wanted war criminal. The mind boggles honestly.

Why does Israel get immunity and impunity?

Why are western democracies willing to burn the whole facade of rules based order down to defend the indefensible?

Even Whitehouse spokespeople who waxed lyrical about the ICC when it issued an arrest warrant for Putin are now delegitimising the same court when it issues an arrest warrant for Netenyahu.
Their credibility and integrity is holed below the water line.

Why is Israel so diplomatically protected? It must go beyond any strategic interest because as strategy goes the relationship with Israel has been disastrous.

The US's reputation has been shot for a while. Since effectively the second world war they've been the global hegemon and it was easy to understand why, they've had all the natural advantages you'd expect a global superpower to have; geographic, resources, population etc and the rest of the world, European powers in particular were in tatters. Since then they've overthrown governments they didn't like, funded coups, waged wars on false pretenses and basically lied through their teeth about it all. In fact they've done more interfering in other countries business than basically any of the other bad actors out there; China, Russia, Iran etc…. They only thing, prior to now they were able to get away with their lies but they're now expecting the world to believe them when they can see the truth with their own eyes. It was much easier to control the narrative before, harder now.

What's baffling to me is that there are still people that believe that ****. Like the murdering of innocents is somehow going to stop the spread of extremism; i.e. my brand of extremism is better than your brand of extremism. Here's an idea; if you want to stop terrorism, stop being a terrorist. Then again they've used many terror groups to their own end throughout the last 50 years so they probably don't want rid of them really. They've been creating reasons to go to war for years now.

Orban is inviting him over for a long weekend stay with him.

Orban is the ultimate European Politician troll, buddying around with Putin and Bibi. I guess you can judge people by the company they keep.

Sometimes you have to respect Hungary. Between their (rational) decision to pay EU fines to avoid taking in ridiculous economic migrants abusing the asylum process, and this pro Israel stance.

Unfortunately Ireland, despite a claim of "neutrality" dropped that facade a long time ago. We are no longer a neutral country. We are firmly behind an EU defined terrorist group, who are leading an insurrection against one of the world's oldest countries.

If you look back to the pre balfour state of play, what was then the british mandate was to be split between a jewish palestine (before the name Israel was returned) and an islamic Jordan (transjordan), what we have now is an islamic jordan and a terrorist crisis in Israel. Make no mistake, the west have caused this problem, but it is now in the hands of insurgents.

So no mention of the ICC decision. None at all. You support any other international criminals?

  • Registered Users, Registered Users 2 Posts: 23,121 ✭✭✭✭ELM327

I mean that decision is completely ridiculous. If I break into your house and you attack me, am I guilty of assault? If I have a gun and I shoot you, am I guilty of murder? No.
So the ICC got the mention it deserved in my post… none.

Israel cancelled a planned visit of the Dutch foreign minister after the Netherlands stated they would comply with the ICC ruling. And it’s hardly a surprise about orban he’s a mouthpiece attention seeker.

I dont think it is fair to try to dumb it down to a simple analogy. it is better to address the charge of starving a civilian population. If you cant argue against that then you are supporting this form of war crime.

To attack Ireland in the day after international arrest warrants are issued for the Israeli PM though? What is that about?

Absurd post. If you defend yourself against the person who attacked you, there are limits to that defence, there's a case in the courts right now on a similar situation.

However, let's run with your silly analogy - if you hunt down the person who attacked you and beat him to death then find his partner, children, parents, aunts uncles, neighbours and beat them to death too, then dissatisified that he's paid a sufficient price you then burn down his house, his workplace, his car, his gym, his GPs office. Then it's you who has the problem and thus Netanyahu is rightly indicted.

Now stop justifying mass slaughter of children.

Well, unfortunately that will never happen. But the optics here are very important. Netanyahu now joins some very unsavoury characters on that ICC list.

    And not before time either.

    What?

If you break into my house you are guilty of breaking into my house. If you have a gun and you shoot me of course you are guilty of murder!

When your killing hits 70% women and children you are guilty indeed.

People wonder why the minority pro israel accounts don't post much on threads like these in Irish forums and boards, the amount of terrorism glorifying simps that come out to attack anyone with a hint of pro israel sentiment is astonishingly overwhelming.

Is this 1933 Berlin again? Must we all be Judenfrei now?

Edited to add: I'm not jewish, my family is mixed Irish and Prussian descent.

What is it that Israel has on UK politicians that they are so scared of it?

  • Registered Users, Registered Users 2 Posts: 7,147 ✭✭✭SafeSurfer

Defenders of Israeli genocide have got scarce since Netenyahu has become wanted for war crimes.

It’s just a reflection of common decency and morality that Israeli defenders are thin on the ground.
Your only argument against being opposed to war crimes is labelling people terrorist supporters.

Now stop justifying mass slaughter of children.

The thing is now the Pro-Israeli contingent here on boards can no longer justify any claims of self defense and can no longer excuse the Israelis for killing innocents.

  • Registered Users, Registered Users 2 Posts: 4,823 ✭✭✭Sudden Valley

Posters were only challenging your opinion on how the ICC decision was wrong. Just make a counter argument, that is what a discussion forum is for. I would hope you supported the ICC when they issued an arrest warrant against Putin, they do not seem to be a corrupt organisation.

  • Registered Users, Registered Users 2 Posts: 4,823 ✭✭✭Sudden Valley

They will just ignore the ICC decision. Or not mention it. The ICC was right about Putin and many others but in their minds it is now a disgraced Court.

Well Germany simply cannot criticise Israel. It's a Jewish state and they'll just have the holocaust rubbed in their faces if they dare open their mouths. Israel has, long ago, weaponised both the holocaust and "antisemitism" in order to use both as a bulwark against any criticism of it and the easiest people to point the fingers at are the Germans.

Time for EU wide sanctions now. Travel bans etc. It’s time for consequences.

  • Registered Users, Registered Users 2 Posts: 20,712 ✭✭✭✭Tony EH

    What absolute trash.

I suggest that you go back and read post #6854 by MFPM to see how ridiculous your attempted position is instead of trying to pivot to a faux victimhood.

Id like to see some football team stand up and refuse to play Israel or one of their clubs.

I think many would follow them, but we need one brave one to get the ball rolling.

I dont thinks theres any terrorism glorifying going on - personally I cant stand Hamas / Hezbollah as much as Israel - but Hamas and Hezbollah have been the"bad guys" in the region - this ruling now shows there are 3 "bad guys" in the region and not just 2 anymore.

Its also that people can and could see it for what it is - Israel commiting genocide and crimes against humanity. Now that the ICCJ has issued these arrest warrants those people that called Israel out for it are completely vindicated.

That doesnt mean they are anti-semitic though - It is completely possible to hate Israel and the IDF (and what they are doing to Gaza and Lebanon and their civilians) and not be anti-semitic. But even the mention of calling out Israel on their crimes seems from Pro-Israel supporters to automatically make you "anti-semitic" when in reality you are "anti -crimes against humanity"

They are two completely different things.

The funny thing is you are the simp trying to justify the war-crimes and terrorism here.

  • Registered Users, Registered Users 2 Posts: 14,367 ✭✭✭✭hotmail.com

Joe Biden overseeing and complicit in the war crimes.

Biden doesn't even recognise the ICC.

  • Registered Users, Registered Users 2 Posts: 20,313 ✭✭✭✭Strazdas

The ones claiming the ICC decision is a flawed are unable to provide any legal evidence that the charges are trumped up. The ICC decision has a ton of evidence to back it up in the form of thousands of documents, witness testimonies and videos.

(Some of the Israeli fanboys appear to be under the mistaken impression that the ICC have issued an arrest warrant on a whim and that they don't have the substantial legal evidence to back up its issuance).

Harris got a lot of flack from democrats over this in the run up to the US election. I wonder were yanks hoping that Trump will be less complicit and recognise the ICC

I suspect the situation in Gaza had little impact on the US Election.

The US supports Israel and that's it. Biden reflects American public opinion - they do not care about the suffering in Gaza.
