The 2 boys trying to gang on MLMD.

Watching it on +1 (missed the start) but it's hilarious listening to Harris and Martin in particular promising to fix it all in their manifestoes.

Just don't remember that between them they've been in Government for over a decade now with confidence and supply and then outright coalition.

But this time they're gonna fix everything - honest!

You know what is even more unbelievable! These morons and their inept parties who will return to power, will be saying the exact same thing to us in four years, four more years of listening to the lies, the incompetence… its beyond insufferable. I am not watching any of these debates etc, I've been listening to the BS for over twenty years now, endless money, endless talk ZERO action, leadership, visions or spine!

As for the rest of the parties, equally as hopeless, possibly worse!

Wait till you get the part about the childrens hospital.🤣

The one that they couldnt decide on where to build for years and years and ends up costing hundreds of millions if not a billion more than it could have? the same way the metro will cost billions more because those morons cant make decisions? dont worry lads, its only your money, sure we are all rolling in it so much…

It's gotten worse though in recent years.

Harris with zero experience of any job in the real world. A drop out FG staffer who somehow has managed to become Taoiseach.

McEntee another one who is dangerously incompetent and obsessed with nonsense but somehow justice minister while crime, Garda discontent, and an immigration crisis she oversaw (while handing out citizenship like cornflakes box prizes) worsens year on year. Worse again is that this completely useless excuse for a politician will probably make Taoiseach yet and will be hailed as a sign of how "progressive" we are!

O'Gorman - an academic and an ideological fantasist who invited the 3rd world or anyone with a sad story to come to Ireland for rewards while his idiotic party threaten our energy independence and tax everything they can think of under the guise of saving the planet - because a small island nation of 5 million people is going to be the decider of whether civilisation collapses apparently!

Chambers - another unimpressive FF staffer type who somehow has become Minister for Finance at 33 years old??

It's no wonder the country is going down the plug hole with this level of "quality" at the helm!

Is irish politics unique on this planet for 1. How similar the parties all are (cowards wanting to be all things to all people) zero choice with any parties of any size (all centre left economically) believe the elite here on 44k should surrender over half their salary, for the banana republic we live in… Maybe some day, we will have a party, lead by a strong leader, who would cause the seat losses of a lot of these FFG traitors, sort out the endless list of issues that need to be addressed here…

O'Leary was right, what is government spending going to be this year? The place is literally run by boyscouts! And people can hate O'Leary all they like, but he wouldnt run his business, the way this country is run, financial reckless abandon!

I imagine McEntee driving around with a bootful of irish passports giving them out like Albert Reynolds use to do when people where years waiting on getting a phone.

  • Registered Users, Registered Users 2 Posts: 7,991 ✭✭✭Floppybits

I think that is what people are waiting for, if there was a 4th party that a straight talking strong leader and not the weak leaders we have who are trying to be all things to all people, people would vote in their droves. I don't believe people really want to vote FF, FG or SF but there is little alternative as we seen tonight. The stand out leader tonight was Tobìn. There is really no alternative.

Oh I saw that one alright. The Minister for Health who wasn't responsible. The sheer arrogance and contempt shown by Harris in that statement alone should tell you everything you need to know about the man and what he stands for!

Many FFG voters, would love to give them a kicking and vote for a new decent alternative, if there was one… With the quality of Taoiseach we currently have, honestly, next time, lets just do a random draw from the population , all adults qualify and that person can run the country…

I don"t think Ivana would allow it. Not live on air, anyway...

Who came up with the ten leader debate idea?

    RTE are idiots.

It is quite cowardly for FFG to gang up in blackening the Greens just because they know being anti Green will sell.

What are they doing in the Hyacinth House?

The parties moaned last time, the people moaned last time that XYZ wasn't in the leader debate

This time they put the leaders on and people moan

    Can never win

    It's 9 weeks off full-term. It's only an early election if you're a pedant.

Ive a feeling Fine Gael are going to get a pasting next week, I think people have had enough of them.

    FF may benefit.

The problem is the calibre of political parties and politicians in Ireland is atrocious. Its utterly depressing, I had a look at the candidates in my constituency and they are all useless.

Not fit to run a chip van.

The debate last night and the 2 lads bullying Roderic at any opportunity.

What are they doing in the Hyacinth House?

  • Registered Users, Registered Users 2 Posts: 11,342 ✭✭✭✭Cluedo Monopoly

I have thought that all along. The Harris hop is evaporating day by day. The public sure hated Leo though. FF will be largest party less than 20 years after bankrupting the country. Only in Eire.

What are they doing in the Hyacinth House?

I think Jack Chambers will be Taoiseach by the end of next year.

  • Registered Users, Registered Users 2 Posts: 20,903 ✭✭✭✭kneemos

I think the moaning came from SF because they weren't included.

  • Registered Users, Registered Users 2 Posts: 526 ✭✭✭harryharry25

That sums up the state of Irish Politics doesn't it.

Surely one of the older FF like Jim O Callaghan will contest any leadership's battle if Micheal steps down or goes for President, not that Jim would be much better

This time around if they'd gone for any higher cut off level than 1 seat, there'd have been plenty of moaning

Aontu have an army of blue tick supporters/reps/candidates who would point at (cherry picked) poll figures if they were included.

Going for 5 - the size of a Dáil technical group below which a party needs to join with others to have speaking rights - would have cut out II, which would have lead to much moaning, pointing at having an MEP etc etc.

Just having the big three would be excluding a party that's actually in Government - although in the old days of head to head FF vs FG debates, the PDs or Labour were left out too.

Goes to show the sad state of affairs in politics when a party like FF that destroyed the economy and have shown time and time again to the be corrupt and rotten to the core, should have been consigned to the bin or at least a 2 - 5% party and now could be the largest party as you say "less than 20 years later". Goes to show the absolute lack of talent there is in the other parties.

Another thing that stood out last night was how all the parties seem to be same, yes little tweeks here, more housing there but essentially the same, this is why I think Aontu stood out because they are something different. Not for everyone with all the God stuff but still are offering something different. FF and FG are basically 1 party in all but name and that came through last night watching Martin and Harris tag teaming attacking the others, for me there is no difference in the SD, Lab or the Greens maybe they should become one party. That just leave SF who put the fear of god into FF and FG, Aontu as I said offering something different, PBP happy to shout from the sidelines, didn't hear much from the independent party but they seem more aligned to FF and FG and the Alliance barely got to speak maybe if they have a stronger voice there it would have been different.

I don't like FG, have never voted for them and never will. However they will garner the most votes on Fri week.

  • Registered Users, Registered Users 2 Posts: 10,211 ✭✭✭✭Seathrun66

FF were the largest party in the Dáil after the last election.

If you put a gun to my head and marched me down to the polling booth. I'd vote for FF and MM, before I'd vote Fg. Harris cannot be taoiseach, it's gone way too far... is that the solution to them being two sides of the same arse? If you think ffg are the best of the appalling options, you don't split the vote. You give it to say Ff this time, fg junior coalition partners, non of this confidence and supply shite. But at least one of the parties, then has to accept the consequences of failure, seat losses and will have to get serious come next election... I'm honestly ashamed as an Irish person with Harris as taoiseach, and I don't say that lightly....
