While I like Amy, she has never been a professional I found very exciting to watch. I do feel sorry for her having to deal with more health problems, the poor woman can't catch a break.

Lauren on the other hand…. she catches your attention.

Although I agree Lauren is a very exciting pro, neither she nor Amy choreographed that dance so it might not have made a difference.

I'm not convinced Bruno Mars or Pink have achieved icon status yet!

I hope Sam Quek goes this week.

Pink had been around for more than 20 years. I'd definitely have her as an icon.

I do like Pink, I just feel she and Bruno aren't on the same fields as Madonna yet.

Did the Sunday show start early? I turned it on at 7.20 and the opening number was already over

Isit my imagination or have there been no charlestons this series?

(I have the memory of a goldfish so maybe I'm well wrong!)

ETA - having googled, I'd forgotten about Tasha's (didn't particularly like it at the time, I remember) and obviously missed Sam's, whenever that was!

    No more Nikita 😭

There were a couple of charlestons alright? I can't remember who did them. Mind you. Did Chris do one?

I don't know are the ballroom dances starting to get lost in the pizzazz of these theme nights? I thought Sam and Nikita did well, but the music didn't suit at all and made it look lifeless.

Completely agree. It's all theme night after theme night. One of the kids asked last night "what's the difference between an American Smooth and a normal ballroom dance?"

I actually had to think about it for a bit and finally replied that pretty much all of the ballroom dances nowadays in Strictly are American Smooths. They just don't stick to the rules anymore.

Couple get absolutely shafted nowadays if the music is crap or their "theme" is rubbish. Choreographers now helping them with their routines because the pros aren't half as good as they used to be. The show really has changed a helluva lot over the last decade.

I find myself increasingly bored with it. I have no idea what the point of the boy band tonight was... 🤷

I wonder who actually chooses the music? Sometimes I genuinely scratch my head at the music choices.

It feels like the music can make all the difference, and if its wrong, the dance doesn't look or feel like it fits. When the music fits, it just adds that extra something.

Kudos to the choreographers who have to try and work with it.

It has been announced that Amy has withdrawn and Lauren will partner JB from now on.

I thought that would happen. Amy must have returned too soon. She needs more recovery time after everything her body has been put through.

Yes, definitely. I feel sorry for her. I know most people, after serious illness, just want everything back to normal as quickly as possible, but I imagine she needs more time to be fully better.

They mentioned a foot injury in the statement, but I thought I'd read she collapsed previously. Hoping she will make a full recovery whatever the cause.

Yes, she collapsed on the last night that she danced, apparently, and was taken to hospital by ambulance. I saw that was what was mentioned in her statement, that it was a foot injury. It may well be, I expect it's a hazard of the occupation. Or it may be that she doesn't want speculation that it's anything worse.

It was too much, imo, coming back full on with a partner, after her illness and treatment.

Oh, I read somewhere it was a flair up of her Crohn's disease. She is dealing with a lot, poor woman.

Aww, I'm delighted that Wynne went through tonight - I've played that AS back a few times, it just makes me smile! For a big fella he's very light on his feet.

Shane looked properly shocked when Shirley gave her vote - to be fair I was as well, I thought it would be unanimous for him.

I was praying for Sarah to be in the dance off - I can't put my finger on why but I'm finding her intensely annoying - and Vito pawing her the whole time isn't helping, that's beginning to creep me out at this stage.

Competition is fierce though, they're all very good that's left in it - even Chris who is just blowing my mind at this point - Dianne deserves a bloody damehood for her job this series!!!

I read somewhere recently that it was a stress fracture in her shin - I'm sure all her treatment has to have had effects on her - maybe it was just too much too soon. Hopefully she makes a cool recovery whatever it was/ is.

(But I'm delighted to her to see more of Lauren, esp now that Gorka is gone, they're my two favourites!

I'm so happy Wynne stayed. I think he's terrific. He's improving all the time and I just loved his jacket. Nancy looked so peed off. I really thought she was going to say something controversial!

Chris though. How are they doing it.

And Katya's dress! I loved it.
I kinda wanted both to stay 😁. It must be a bit gutting to leave just ahead of Blackpool.

Loved last night's opening dance by the professionals to a (live?) Pet Shop Boys medley. One of my favourites, I think.

I've missed Carlos this year! Vito makes me laugh. he is like a big over-excited puppy.

Chris continues to amaze. I'm really watching just for him. Kudos to Dianne for her teaching skills.

  • Registered Users, Registered Users 2 Posts: 9,733 ✭✭✭Heroditas

Yep Chris has done amazingly well but I do think the judges are over-marking him a bit. Still though, Diane has done amazingly to teach him. Apparently she was in contact with Karen Byrne to get tips after she trained Jason on DWTS this year.

I thought it was a shame about the Blackpool night. Barely any tails in sight, hardly any traditional music and only two (I think) of the classic dances last night. It all felt a bit of a novelty rather than giving us something that belonged there. I appreciate I may sound like a boring old traditionalist fart saying that 🤣

How on earth is Pete Wicks still there....he should've gone home this week.
