He might as well be retired at this stage. He he is found guilty here I can't see it stopping him fighting as this isn't a criminal case. Bear in mind the UFC and boxing is no stranger to criminals, rapists and woman beaters. With the new found love of Saudi by the UFC and boxing they'd never have a problem sanctioning a fight anyway though..

Based on what's I've read I'd vote guilty for Mcgregor. It all sounds dodgy as hell and she seems to be consistent with her story. It's a shame it isn't a crinimal case.

I’ve no idea how the jury will go with this case- there’s a lot of evidence to weigh up. It’s rare we get so much detail on a civil case where the lower bar of balance of probability is used as the decision making tool.

I think the delivery of how the testimony was spoken from each contributor will be an influencing factor- something armchair observers, which we all are, won’t have heard.
End of week 1 for me still remains very strong testimony and evidence -yes, there’s definitely now a lot more for the jury to consider as we approach the end of the trial .

However, the key focus for the jury will still be around what happened in the privacy of the bedroom - between two people.

I don’t envy the jury on this case - it’s going to be a tough discussion

I believe it was taken down. All the absolute cesspool, toxic posts left on there and he managed to get this taken down. Money talks.

I would disagree strongly with that statement re: older people. Don’t know how old you are or your parents but with age also comes wisdom of experience.

It may have been a legitimate issue say up to 15-20 years ago - talk of what the person was wearing and what that represented or how they might have “led on” someone -

but today, all people are far more aware of the issues around sexual consent, the inability of someone to provide consent when highly intoxicated etc

Your parents are likely very well experienced with such matters having lived through a time when issues of sexual consent were trivialised and fault and blame directed towards the victim. They will have friends or indeed even personal experience of such matters.

As a result they are probably more likely to not be sidetracked by “red herrings” or secondary issues that don’t take away from the primary issue of consent .

I was a jury member in a criminal trial a few years ago- the only person on that jury who had “doubts” of the persons guilt was someone in their 20s -the youngest member of the jury everyone else who were mid 30s-60s could clearly read the “red herrings” we were thrown

Id actually prefer a jury of 50+ year olds than a jury of 20+ year olds personally for this case.

I did. I couldn't see it! I searched "conor and dee VIDEO" "conor mcgregor" and "dee devlin" and it didn't bring anything up.

Ah it was taken down. Can anyone describe what was in it please

A few lads in the garden next door from the gaff McGregor is renting filming him riding his missus (I assume) through the glass doors.

Maybe its just the older people I am in contact with, family, neighbours, etc (people in their 60s) but they wouldnt be as you desribed at all, they are victim blamers in my experience, if she went to a hotel and depending on what they were wearing.

It would be mad to be more worried about the fact that you were riding your missus was being made public, than being worried that riding random ladies around the city was being made public

It's still on Twitter, what are you talking about. I literally just seen it there and won't be embedding it due to the sexually explicit nature.

Funny yesterday I heard that advert again in the radio. The one about threatening to upload images of people online being a crime. Well these lads actually did it never mind threaten. I wonder will he be charged.

    Edit:

Just did a few more searches it's all over Twitter still. Came across a voice note of McGregor saying he'd be calling the police and another of the group of lads sniggering after he'd realised they'd filmed him and was in the phone. Disturbing behaviour by these young men.

Let's hope nothing similar ever happens to themselves.

Well He got it taken down, so someone must have put up a new post.

  • Registered Users, Registered Users 2 Posts: 4,317 ✭✭✭RoyalCelt

I have a link in my DM's from the night it was uploaded. Clicked on it and it's still up. Might have been a nudity warning that's it. Did a few basic searches and there are many other posts.

Sick move by those lads. Let's hope nothing similar ever happens them.

Edit: Before the conspiracies start, you should probably consider it's illegal to upload recordings of people like this and maybe, just maybe the uploaders **** the bed after realising how open they are to legal action and getting sued.

He made his millions in America.

Donald Trump just got elected there again despite losing his own civil case involving a sexual assault.

I don't think a ruling against McGregor in a civil trial will therefore hurt his earning power much there.

    Mod Note

The case is in front of the courts and as such, no more discussing it in here.

A few Warinigs have been issued already and some posts will be deleted.

MMA chat only as per Mod Note in OP.

Just to clarify. Are we not allowed to discuss the trial at all?

Or can we discuss it in another thread.

It is being discussed on lots of forums online.

It's a Boards wide policy not to discuss a case that's before the courts. Some other platforms, mainly English based ones don't have that issue. It's a pity as it is very topical but it is what it is. As soon as it's over, drive on.

Post 309 presser earlier Dana White mentioned Conor was stateside meeting with sponsors Chandler called him out again and few mentions of BKFC next weekend.

Wonder have the sponsors dropped Conor and was that just obligatory mention/call out by Chandler, two years+ of waiting to take a rubber fight he probably wasn't going to win must hurt, he won't be fight ready for a fair few months if Conor can get back to a fight would he want to fight Chandler despite losing he put up a serious effort against Olivera.

  • Registered Users, Registered Users 2 Posts: 5,061 ✭✭✭The Rooster

I think McGregor being called out by Chandler, despite being in the middle of the case, is indicative that the UFC (and it’s US supporter base) won’t care too much either way about how the case goes.

Jake Paul also called him out this weekend. Said Conor has offered to fight him at 170, which he says definitely won’t happen. But Paul said he would happily face him under MMA rules with no weight limits, like the UFC’s initial cards.

Mcgregor will absolutely fight again. Not at the top but probably some exhibition against a YouTuber or whatever.

Remember, Tyson is a convicted rapist and he's a hero in the US.

It'll probably a Saudi gig for Conor due to his drugs admission. They won't care about any rape claims either.

  • Registered Users, Registered Users 2 Posts: 40,513 ✭✭✭✭eagle eye

Yeah, they treat women like **** in Saudi. He'd probably be a hero over there for doing something to a woman. Hell get ridiculous money there too.

  • Registered Users, Registered Users 2 Posts: 12,930 ✭✭✭✭Frank Bullitt

McGregor going anywhere near a UFC fight will result in him being slaughtered. Even though Chandler lost, he was not totally outclassed, just imagine what he would do to McGregor.

McGregor against Jake Paul is all the he should even begin to entertain, and if people paid to watch that then they deserve to be hoodwinked.

As much as I dislike McGregor for what he has become, I would absolutely love to see him in a proper ufc fight against Jake Paul. It would be a murder.
