This is the set list that will more than likely be played in concert hall on Saturday looking forward to this now.

That's a good setlist. All of them stand out.

That reminds me, i really need to play Dear Esther.

Don't bother. It's insists upon itself.

I think I played it too late as I didn't get the hype for it after playing much better walking simulators. It's one of those stories that thinks its cleverer than it is, just purposefully obtuse because there's actually nothing behind it all.

I suppose if you must, it's quite short although there's randomness to it as well for repeat playthroughs.

Dear Esther is so early into the walking-sim boom that it almost plays like a parody of the genre in 2024, so much of what came after iterated upon it that it all now feels a bit farty. Granted, still a better use of your time than Everybody's Gone to the Rapture.

Everybodys Gone to Rapture is the Perfect Dark of walking simulators. Everything is great until the aliens.

Had mostly tuned out in the latter half, but the sudden pivot to intergalactic chicanery did manage to get a "wait, what?" out of me. The other highlight being walking around a caravan park and having to insist to the Mrs that it was, in fact, actually a video game.

As someone who really liked both those Chinese Room games back in the day (Jessica Curry’s soundtrack doing a lot of the heavy lifting), I do look back at them as more of an evolutionary step in game storytelling and form. I think a lot of the best indie games we’ve had over the last ten years - your Obra Dinns, Outer Wilds etc… - wouldn’t have happened had the likes of Dear Esther and other key walking simulators (Gone Home, Stanley Parable etc…) not shaken up the space and (crucially) proven popular. No clue what they’d look like if played for the first time today.

Obviously it’s quite out of fashion as a genre these days, but I think it lives on in the smaller indie space where there are a lot more formally audacious and playful games with fairly limited interaction.

Anyone ever been to one of these. Would it be suitable for an 8 year old or would there be video in the background from the games that might be too mature.

Thinking of the last of us and Battlefield

As there is 15 euro unreserved seating in the choral balcony there wont be a screen with video, been to a fair few movie nights in those seats and its a great experience, the john williams / hans zimmer night was excellent and a few weeks back went to best of bond and that was well worth the price.

Dear Esther was alright I thought. I played it on Gamepass a few years ago. Easy 1000GS or Platinum if on Playstation. Or steam achievements depending on what platform you play it on.

Romancing Saga 2 remake is getting unexpectedly rave reviews.

Pics of original HZD and the remaster. Looks good, worth a tenner upgrade.

Certainly looks good, but I just don't think I could bring myself to play through the whole game again. Played it at launch and then with the PS5 upgrade a few months before the second game came out.

That's part of the issue of doing this to open-world games; sure you get a visual boost and some QoL improvements, but the base game will still be the same and it's a long-ass game to play. Even for a tenner, I'll pass.

Are we now getting to the point where there is no point in playing games until the third or so iteration, I know this gen has been fairly poor in getting new stuff to gamers but its getting a bit ridiculous

I'm not a fan of the Horizon games, but Zero Dawn was already perfectly fine in its previous iterations (even PS4, allowing for the limitations of the platform). Ditto TLOU. Plenty of point in having played them prior to their next-gen touch ups.

In the most Activision move ever, the new Call of Duty will support Enhanced Headphone Mode which uses Immerse Spatial Audio technology to "increase the directional accuracy of sounds" in-game, which can be further customised to your head shape.

And it can be yours for just $20 for five years! We are now in 'Pay to Hear' territory 😂

Absolute madness. The entire industry is so close to breaking point right now, it's just not working correctly at all.

Not as clear cut as it... sounds... they've enabled a sound pack to be selected by those who have an Immense account, and that crowd create custom sound eqs for games. You're subbing to a 3rd party app. But, it's still **** for the gamers. Again, those with money will buy the advantage, albeit I'm not sold on the idea to begin with... not that it'll matter with perks like Ninja which silence your footsteps. Just like real life Warfare!

Not that I needed any more reasons to not get back into CoD. It has left me behind.

Starfield: Shattered Space DLC is pretty good. The game world you mostly play in is so good looking. I find myself just admiring the buildings and sky.

Kind of the same. I platinumed HZD and I only do that with games I really love. Bloodborne and GoW 2018 being the others.

But I may go back to it, the original was far better than Forbidden West, which was a bit too meandering.

  • Registered Users, Registered Users 2 Posts: 9,586 ✭✭✭SuperBowserWorld

I bought HZD complete years ago for a tenner and so far it's got 60 FPS upgrade and now this remaster. One day I'll force myself past the intro. It definitely looks better now. Maybe I'll eventually play it on PS7.

Good to know it's better than the sequel.

Does it support good gyro aiming on dual sense ? Switch BOTW/TOTK has this and it's just perfect for the bow in those game.

Fallout 2 and New Vegas. 4 is easily the worst that isn't a spin off.
