Playing Silent Hill and see it does the Resi thing with the yellow tape and paint but it's white cloth instead and I like it. It's there to help but it's subtle and not screaming "Here, bozo!"

GTA San Andreas has turned twenty.

    Same age as my daughter.

People who know me: Wait, you don't have a daughter or kids.

Me: I know, I just felt like saying it.

I 'member playing it over the mid-term and one day playing it until the sun rose. It was mind-blowing at the time.

It was my most favourite game until I played that remaster and I was like what the hell was I thinking.

In my defence at the time there was no game like it and I thought the game world was massive too with so much to do.

That was me with gta 3 we had a mid term tour to Switzerland and picked it up the day before spent the entire tour letting everyone know cool it was, as gta 3 was silently dropped on everyone at the time. Crazy to think how under the radar that release went.

As for most recent silent hill yep it's a joy to play a ps "exclusive" that's not all yellow paint, birds or chalk markings that treat you like an idiot while trying to sell immersion.

New showrunner is Ronald D. Moore. For those of you who don’t know he is, Battlestar Galactica (2004) and For All Mankind. Now I’m interested

It looked kind of terrible and the press didn't really get it from previews. Nobody expected it to be good until the reviews dropped.

For Five Nights at Freddy’s on Switch is it better to buy each game as an individual download rather that the Core Collection ?

I read that there is missing content on the physical release of the Core Collection but I cannot find out what that is.

There is also talk of “iffy controls” but I don’t know if that is on the individual downloads, the Core Collection or both.

Starfield: Shattered Space is pretty good. I haven't come across any duplicate locations so far anyway. I was on a side mission and on the way back I came across this location and decided to explore it and it is a underground building / bunker and cave system. I think you actually have to go there eventually for either main story or side mission as I found a special formula in a locked by a keycard fridge(I found the keycard for this). I also came across a locked by keycard location in a dam. So I hope that is part of the story as well as I never found a keycard to get in.

I also was on steam and seen negative reviews on it and I honestly do not know what the hell DLC they were playing as it's actually pretty good.

Have been a 'performance above resolution' person for a while now, but god Monster Hunter Wilds beta on PS5 really tests that resolve. Looks like a mess on performance mode - aliasing all over the place in the cutscenes and really just a muddy look overall. Even then the performance feels unstable.

Granted, this could just be the RE Engine limits, as Dragon's Dogma 2 also showed it wasn't up to busy open world environments. Curious to try the PC version when it's out to see if it's any better.

FFVII Rebirth was that game for me, went through it entirely at 30fps as performance mode was distractingly blurry. To be fair it wasn’t a huge deal, at the very least it was a rock solid 30 all the way through.

FF16 would have been that game if I was remotely interested in finishing it.

Yeah I haven't played FFVII Rebirth but I know that tested a lot of people.

Funny enough for what I played of FF16 I just trudged through with performance mode on, as even with the distractingly unstable frame rate it felt much more responsive and fluid to me than the 30 FPS mode. It still looked good too. Monster Hunter is on a different level entirely due to the image quality, alas. Hopefully the PC fares somewhat better, as at least it has crossplay (playing with friends on PS5 is a prerequisite for MH).

I did play an awful lot of MH Rise on Switch at 30 FPS, so I can deal with it… but when the option for higher frame rate is there, the compromises stand out more.

Will be interesting to see how it runs on PS5 Pro. From previews it seems like it resolves pretty much all the issues with FFVII Rebirth.

The PC specs look awful high so not that hopeful and dragons Dogma didn't run that well.

Nintendo never put the prices down on first party games, physical at least. On digital they reduce by 33% and it only then matches the physical price. I do notice just after launch time you'll see stuff a few quid off.

Amazon and other online shops, used to do 2 for the price of 3 kind of offers on first party Nintendo games, but no more.

There are no "Nintendo Selects" reduced price first party. There was for Wii/WiiU/... I was expecting this as Switch 2 is due to launch soon ...

    PITA

Dead Island 2 is that bit more fun with Dani as the playable character. Her Irishness adds a nice bit of local humour to it.

    Finished Silent Hill 2.

    Untitled Image

Gonna try the Metaphor demo. Some anime bullshít might be a good palate cleanser after 15+ hours of tense misery.

I played Jacob who I found had some great dialog. Tbh I preferred Dead Island 2 over Dying Light 2. Dead island doesn't take itself serious

Ah yes, anime bullshit that is a take on the US presidential campaign trail to remind you of the real dystopia we currently live in. Not much of a palette cleanser 😅

The Nintendo music app is pretty neat. Also means I don't have to put up with YouTube now for Nintendo music.

  • Registered Users, Registered Users 2 Posts: 3,650 ✭✭✭McFly85

It’s got great features but very little content. Looks like it will be drip-fed to the app in the same way as the games, so not done with YouTube just yet.

  • Moderators, Category Moderators, Computer Games Moderators Posts: 53,756 CMod ✭✭✭✭Retr0gamer

Seems to only be internal Nintendo composers other than donkey Kong. No Xenoblade which is frustrating.

Does have the Wii channels music which is keep Hip Tanaka.

  • Registered Users, Registered Users 2 Posts: 2,659 ✭✭✭recyclops

Hopefully Nintendo don't go after YouTube now as the music app is great when you create custom playlists.

I still wish Nintendo would do the same thing as every other major publisher and just release their soundtracks on the streaming services.

Probably don't want to offer cheaper games if it's true that Switch 2 is backwards compatible.
