Hey, kidnapping Ukrainian children is hard work. The guy needs some downtime.

It was something like 18% Beterbiev to 38% Bivol the last time I saw it on DAZN. Bivol's would not have changed much after that as he didn't really throw many in 11(especially) and 12.

DAZN team all had Bivol ahead for the whole flight, and as soon as result is announced they are all "yeah Artur won that? WTF

Beterbiev looks like he is made of steel.

Think people need to keep in mind that Bivol isn't that big a puncher. Whereas Beterbiev hits like a train.

Ya barely a scratch but I'd imagine the stats will surely show he ate far more clean shots. Bivol with lights out power would be phenomenal.

I felt a draw or a very tight Bivol win was the call but I didn't attentively score it rd by rd.

Thanks, thats percentages but I’m wondering about the numbers more so

Saudis showing themselves up for what they are letting that **** in the country, never mind in the ring at the end.

I thought bivol landed the cleaner shots and performed very well, 116-112 seemed a huge leap to me but each to their own I guess

Yes, but I mean his body shape. He is all compact and wiry.

Interesting that all 3 judges gave beterbiev that last 3 rounds, that's quite impressive for a man who has never gone 12 rounds.

    That was pure quality.

Haven't enjoyed a fight as much for years.

Stats were almost identical in terms of total and head punches landed. Obviously beterbiev threw far more.

They had bivol landing more "high impact" punches which is always subjective as, while far from a powder puff puncher, he doesn't have the same power in his fists that beterbiev does.

I'll not go back over it round by round tonight but a draw or a round or two either way fine for me. Think 116-112 definitely too wide.

No complaints with giving Beterbiev the last three at all. Bivol was completely out of puff.

Had Bivol by 2. He landed the far cleaner work and was landing at will when he opened up. Close fight all the same and a brilliant fight from both men.

116-112 Beterbiev I find far too wide though.

he’s Kadyrov the head of the Chechen republic, some call him a criminal warlord

Problem is he didn't really open up that much at all, particularly in the second half of the fight, apart from the 9th.

    Great stuff.

    Fight flew by.

Will need to watch that one again.

Ramzan Kadyrov. Chechen dictator and warlord.

Given the US military's use of Shannon and some lickspittle politicians cosying up to Putin, Ireland not really in a position to get too high and mighty about "those awful Saudis" though.

I remember thinking Bivol had a great round ten. But all three judges gave that round to Beterbiev. Just looked at Compuboxes stats, how did Beterbiev get that round at all, Bivol did far better than him in that round. I felt the whole way through that fight that Beterbiev was throwing far far more punches, and was missing with them very badly. Bivol did a great job avoiding being hit. Bivol was throwing far less but when he did, he seemed to be landing more and landing the better punches. And the stats absolutely back that up, he landed more power punches and jabs and the stats seem to suggest he was ahead in every way, except for punches thrown. How on earth did Beterbiev get 8 rounds from one of the judges. Looks to me like two judges preferred the more attacking fighter over the more accurate fighter. But by that wide margin? Very harsh.

It’s irking me a bit that not one of the three judges gave that fight to Bivol. I think he’s been so hard done by. I think there is a good argument for a draw but Beterbiev won a lot of those rounds due to the fact that he is a very tough man and can really take a hit. I’m not too sure what more Bivol could have done. I think experienced judges should be able to look at the whole round. Plenty of rounds Bivol outlanded significantly and then defended. I wouldn’t quite call it a robbery but very harsh judging on Bivol.

If one judge can give it to beterbiev, why not two? It was a super close fight.

Close fights don’t have to be split. Maybe all three pro judges saw similar. 116-112 is being argued about, but some very tight rds that you could argue for either man. Twas a very close fight. Bivol getting the win would have been fair as Artur getting it

I personally was a bit disappointed with that fight. I felt it never really properly got going.

Bivol was obviously worried about Beterbievs power and mainly remained well guarded and on the back foot.

But at the same, that counter 1 2 was beautiful and Beterbiev was worried about that.

It was a bit of a stalemate.

you know, I don’t disagree. I enjoyed the fight, but it never really caught fire. It was like 12 amateur rds of boxing, as in the style and feel off it. I also thought Arthur looked a bit too relaxed and lacked real fight/urgency in parts. Bivol lost because he was giving away too much ground. He seemed to try steal here and there and then rest/move away.

Throughout the fight I always felt that Beterbiev could knock out Bivol. Beterbiev never looked in any trouble.

  • Registered Users, Registered Users 2 Posts: 6,708 ✭✭✭EagererBeaver

That and the fact he really faded the final few rounds. Considering his age and the questions about his knee and training camp, the shape Beterbiev was in and his tank were remarkable.

Brilliant fight, one for the purists.

Had Bivol by one round. They are really different type of fighters, and the Judge who had it 8-4 obviously likes that pressure style of Beterbiev.

The whole Saudi thing is disgusting though.
