Sinner wins 6-2 in the third. Draper was out of gas after 3 hours.

Draper always seems to have a problem lasting in these matches. Something he needs to work on.

    Fritz wins the other semi

He looks fresh but not sure he can beat Sinner in the final

Sinner did injury his left wrist so I wonder if that will come in to play during the final

The women's final IMHO would have been more interesting if Muchova hadn't contrived to lose to Pegula from a 6-1 2-0 lead in the semi-final. I can't see Pegula beating Sabalenka, who doesn't fold under pressure nearly as much as she was wont to do. I live in hope though.

Interesting challenge ahead for Sabalenka tonight. For the second year running she'll play the final against an American and the crowd. Leads the h2h 5-2 but on hard courts they're split at 2-2.

As long as Sabalenka keeps her head together I think she'll be making the h2h 6-2 and winning slam #3. Will be keeping my fingers crossed for her.

Certainly wouldn't want to meet him down the proverbial dark alley.

Jesus I hate the shrieking , I know I should be used to it at this stage but it’s very irritating.

The roof being closed makes it even worse than usual.

Is it just me or is noticeable that players are changing their racquets a lot more often in this US Open than in tournaments in general

  • Registered Users, Registered Users 2 Posts: 1,272 ✭✭✭ledwithhedwith

ah I was wondering why I was more annoyed than usual , thank you haha

  • Registered Users, Registered Users 2 Posts: 886 ✭✭✭klr87

Sabalenka didn't help herself by abusing a racquet she switched to only a few minutes earlier.

  • Registered Users, Registered Users 2 Posts: 42,039 ✭✭✭✭Itssoeasy

salalenka takes the first set 7-5.

Pegula saved 4 set points (mostly caused by her finding the net with poor shots), but not the 5th. Set to Sabalenka 7-5.

Sabalenka tried her hardest to lose that set but thankfully gets over the line. Wouldn't trust her to see this out though, last year's final is still firmly in the memory.

Martina Navratilova is so good on commentary btw.

Pegula was almost a set and 4-0 down, but now leads 4-3 with the break.

sabalenka has to be the most successful ,lowest tennis iq tennis player I’ve ever seen lol, literally just bludgeons everything. Takes on 1% shots haha
